I haven't posted this year about our L&L society fundraiser yet but we just had out big raffle for our industry and we went over the $9000 mark for the first time in 7 years of raising money. Our total raised in 7 years we are over 45k my wife has run the Disney half the Honolulu marathon the Vegas century ride which was last year and was absolutly brutal. She finished the race when more 30% quit because of 20-30 mph head and cross winds and 90+ degrees but the team in training members that thought of quitting at the 90 mile mark were all taking and trying. To decide to keep going. Me and our pup walked over to my wife and the rest and reminded them what she would say during the training for her marathon. No matter how hard it was it would never be as and as chemo. When the crossed the finish line everyone was gone except the team in training members. Nothing except watching my children being born was as emotional powerful as watching my wife cross that finish line. Me and our pup chased her all day sometimes driving in front of her to let her draft off my truck when she was going straight up with head winds or when we parked and walked a 1/2 mile hill with her or we the course director tried to get her to quit or the ambulance driver who told her the editor of biking magazine rode the rescue truck back in. What she does is amazing compared to my part. All I do is beg beat up and manipulate my friends customers and suppliers to donate money and items to the L&L society. Went and made a jump today with my good friend Steve Osborne. Steve is battling AML. I haven't been officially cleared to jump but I don't know when or if I'll get another chance to jump with Steve. We cannot run (punch in) a card if the CVV doesn't match our machine wont process the card. Bullshit, and a reason I am particular about what packers I use (when I use them, and it's rare). I expect people to take pride in their job, and do the best they can. I had the same thing happen to my OLD vector when I had tuck tabs installed instead of the Velcro. I landed it with stuck risers after doing a control check and was more worried about it not releasing then the risers coming free on landing since I couldn't make them come free in the air. I worked at Caesars Palace as a 20 year old long haired rocker who didn't work for the casino and had complete run if the place. The waitress's loved me the bartenders loved me the security loved me. The first time was when I watched my father die from cancer, I was high on meth as he took his last breathes/ I knew I had to do something different or I was going to die or end up in prison. I moved to Utah and got clean on my own but I didn't really do anything but stop using. I got married had a daughter, got divorced and jumped into a bottle of Jim Beam. In 9 months I was back to sticking needles in my arms and while I was a functioning (great liar)addict (always had been) I was right back to were I was when I left Vegas. On 2/10/2002 I was in bed after having been high for nearly a week and I had vision. I real honest to goodness vision, of my daughter. She was asking her mother where her daddy was. I watched as she bent down and looked in my daughters eyes and told her " your daddy is dead because he used drugs" I immediately jumped out of bed and grabbed my insurance card and called for help. The lady that answered the phone that day saved my life. She kept me on the phone for 2 hours until she found an outpatient treatment center I could go to that wouldn't give away that I was in treatment so I wouldn't lose my job. She even threatened to lose her job by violating the law and calling my employer If I hung or didn't go immediately to the appointment she got for me. There are many miracles some small and some big and some HUGE that I have experienced since then and lots of them have been posted here over the years but none of them would have been possible without my daughter asking her mother where he dad was....I am truly a blessed man..I wish I could give that to everyone...reminds me I need to get to a meeting... There are lots of trolls so you have to have thick skin when you get here and ask the same questions that have been asked a thousand times but if you can handle that jumping is going to be a breeze. :) The tunnel will help with the free fall but it will have very little to do with your survival odds. That will come from the training you receive from your instructors. I'd suggest finishing AFF and making your first solo jump then you've truly been there done that and if the drive to get right back up and do it again isn't there buy your beer and ride off to the next adventure.
