  1. There's no place like home . . . there's no place like home . . . there's no place like home . . . there's . . . damn it is not working!!!!!! I am still stuck in Ohio with the snow! All this talk about Miami, West Palm, sunny weather makes me home sick. I never knew how much I missed home till I started skydiving and winter hit. Anyone wanna sponsor a born bred and raised Floridian's trip back home? I miss The Grove, South Beach, Key West, Hollywood . . . Oh well guess I will be jumping in the snow with the guys a SGC. Yeah you can't do THAT in Florida!
  2. I officially dub this "The Jason Thread" because no matter how many times someone tries to kill it it will not die.
  3. WE have a Super Otter as well as a 182. We almost always jump the Otter but on slow days we take the 182. I jumped it for a H&P but I really felt cramped and really did not enjoy the flight to altitude. I did however enjoy thi=e exit. But the Otter is more fun.
  4. LMAO but feeling your pain. Let us know how it goes. Did you get videos? That could help.
  5. P.S> Welcome to the forums and skydiving
  6. Ummm I was an Army Airborne Qualified Marine. Landing with a PRC-77 radio, spare battery, all my 782 gear a rifle and the POS Kevlar helmet at night from 800 feet under a T-10 or the 101 steerable rounds was no bullshit. It sucked. I landed in an irrigation ditch and was folded in half once. Just because it is not a "skydive" does not negate its value. Do not sell yourself or your experiences short my friend. edited for spelling, i think
  7. No way I will ever jump naked. Think Michellin Man falling under canopy. Besides with my luck the temperature would drop to about 3 degrees just at the time I hit 1000 feet and then my manhood would look like a turtle hiding in sea moss.
  8. Man congrats! I hope to get there soon. Yeah sometime next year maybe
  9. On my first solo I could do nothing but look around. I just did 90's and 180's and stared at everything.. I was so awed. Especially since it was the first time I could actually enjoy it because I was not thinking left turn right turn or anything like that. No agenda just watch the view and my altimeter. What a blast. Congrats to you. It only gets more fun from here.
  10. You are so lucky that your brother is into it too. My Brother hates to fly and no matter how hard I work him he just will not jump. I would give anything to get him the do this. Hell I'd give anything to get my wife up there too. Sucks being the only skydiver in the family. Congrats to you both. Happy jumping!
  11. Welcome to the forums and congrats on your A lisence!
  12. At AerOhio they completely release you on level three once you are stable and only redock if you become unstable. My instructors had a particularly nasty suprise when they did my Level 3. I was stable and they let go and caught them off guard when I dropped 500 below them in a matter of 1-2 seconds. It was not until after I graduated and got my A lisence that one of them said. You remember your level 3? We screwed up. It was our job to stay with you but you fell so fast it caught us completely by surprise. Glad they did not tell me on my debrief, that would have been a scary level 4. Our Level one is pretty much them same as everyone elses. Arch, Altitude, Legs Relax Check Left, Check Right, 3 practice touches. Continue circle of awareness until 6000 lock on, 5500 wave off, sweep, pull, throw, count to 5 and check. Is it there, square and steerable? Decision altitude 2500.
  13. Thank God! I am so glad I am not the only nerd on this site. I have been restraining myself considerably every time I see a physics error or a spelling error or, for that matter, a grammar error. Thank God there is not much math going on here or I would be sitting in a corner talking to myself. "2 plus 2 is 4! 2 plus 2 is 4!" P.S. I love the apostrophe abuse cartoon.
  14. You could look at the progression of the equipment from performanc eand safety aspects.
  15. Yeah I was thinking the same thing!!! That clearly cannot be the exit door.
  16. I could not agree more. Every time I exit now I try something new. My personal favorites are 1.Backflip exit 2.Front flip exit 3.Barrel roll exit 4. (This one I do not know what to call it) I lay on the floor head out the door and just kinda roll out. You actually end up under the plane for a split second it is cool. 5. Then of course I enjoy the floater because I like the feel of the wind in my face. Kinda of like a dog
  17. Yeah please. I could hardly move to the door and I was the second to last person out. We just want to see if it can be done that's all, honest. No other alterior motive at all. Cross my heart hope to . . . well . . . there may be another reason
  18. What?!!! You do not know the difference? What is wrong with you? Oh wait . . . niether do I?
  19. I am a member of the OSU Skydiving club and we are planning a Spring Break Trip to Skyventure. I cannot wait to go. Just watching my student video (I have 19 jumps on video) I can see the remarkable improvement from jump three to jump 24. But what I really see is that as I watch the ground I am all over the sky. Secondly, I have an extremely fast fall rate. Around 145 mph in the arch. My bestfriend whom I have been going through the progression with has a really slow fall rate. Instructors were having a hard time keeping up with me and they were having a hard time staying up with him. For his 26th jump(my 31) we did a two way. We exited fine but once we let go of each other to do some turns I plummetted past him. I worked hard to slow down and he tried to swoop to me but within a few seconds he was a good 1000 feet above me and we could not get back together. I look forward to the tunnel time to get a better control of my fall rate. Of course maybe I should shed 50 pounds too but well I like food and I worked hard to get my gut so I aint getting rid of it But I definitely want to get some tunnel time. Find my column of air and control fall rate and we will have the club coaches with us? Sounds like money well spent to me.
  20. WE get 10 dollars for every referral we bring and they also get 10 off their price. But I always forget to give the card to them so I have not gotten any of the referall money yet. . My own fault though. Whatcha gonna do?
  21. Hey Jaded! Funny how I am just noticing this post. Thanks for the story and just to make you feel better I did a hop and pop for my 12 jump and the winds were coming over the buildings and I planned my landing pattern but then somehow allowed myself to get too far downwind and well ended up landing in that turbulent zone behind the manifest building. Needless to say that like you I was at 500 one second and on the ground the next. Hurt, scared me and I knew I had to go up agin or I might never. No . . . wait . . . I would have because . . . well . . . you know.
  22. Been 3 weeks here in Ohio. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. 19 more and I can go for mine. Cangrats on another milestone!!!!
  23. hmmm in both cases she did exactly one foot more than the original poster? Well I saw this one chick at this one dz this one time do 577' on 5 foot gates and 777' on 20 ft gates. And she didn't just stand them up. She did it with a margarita in one hand while wearing horse blinders and singing "Someone left the cake out in the rain."
