  1. Heya Blake, Is this the Bird you are talking about? It is called the HH65 Dolphin. We Marines affectionately call them Puddle Pirates. Edited to add ----- I would love to jump from one of these. And man are they fast.
  2. You would be surprised at what can be done with ONE. But now that you mention it I must add another to my list. I got plans now !!!!!!!!!!!!! AND LM-Freakin-AO!!! Why do you think they make baggy suits? You think that's freeflying they do up there?
  3. KELLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought you were gonna keep the Superman lunch box a secret!!!!!! What next? You gonna tell them about my Spiderman underwear?
  4. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Gimme some fin! Noggin! Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude! Congrats!
  5. I jump a Mirage and it stays where I put it. I would be freaking out if it did not.
  6. Me too. I just got my A this November at AerOhio. I do not know if we have met or not. But welcome to the forums. Yeah I would be too. I want to visit other DZ's but I am nervous about jumping over unfamiliar landmarks. I am just starting to get the lay of Rittman down. Let us know how Eloy goes.
  7. At first it will be a little weird. But soon you'll get used to it. Your mouth has to adjust to the extra material that is around. Also remember these things are actually moving your, up to now, stationary teeth. They may be a little tender which can make eating a little taxing. Wait till they tighten em for the first time. Yeah I was sore fore a week each time.
  8. I would question your sanity if you weren't searching at least a 250 mile radius around you. I check Columbus, Rittman, Xenia, Toledo and South Pointe, Ohio. Hell if you look at the map that covers the whole state then I check WV, IN, KY just in case and in each case I am fully prepared to drive the distance. At this pointe I figure if they got planes going up I want to be on em cauz pertty soon noone is going up in the area. Take advantage of all opps!
  9. if by your question you mean does watching skydiving videos get your blood boiling thne um yeah me too. In fact I saw a terrible movie the other night. "Cutaway". Oh man it was awfull so I watched three times that night. I couldn't figure out why I had to keep watching it because the acting was so bad then I realized that more than 40 minutes of the film is skydiving! Um maybe I should seek help for my addiction. Nah, I can quit anytime. I am fine. Gonna go jump now.
  10. I'd be up for that. Take a look at the Portals again. Stand on the yellow feet. Hump through the sugar sand with our rigs on, get eaten by sand fleas. Maybe even spend some time in the pit. Who wouldn't want to go?
  11. The only thing I would ask is that you keep your mouth shut on sunset loads so you do not blind your fellow jumpers.
  12. OMG! Your post is great! I think I peed I laughed so hard. Remind me not to land off around you if we ever jump together. I do not want some Red-tick barking after me chasing me through the woods. You could however leave the warm towels out and just bring me coffee. Lots of milk and sugar. Better yet, a margarita. Or even a senorita.
  13. A fifth of whiskey, condoms, a whistle, a rubber duck, three wingnuts and a green glow stick. With these I can usually McGyver something that will get me back should I land off. Oh yeah and a Jimmy Buffet CD.
  14. 1.) A childhood dream since I was five. I wanted to fly fighter jets but my eyesight is really bad 20/450 and 20/400 with stigmatisms. No way I was gonna get to fly so I decided since I could not fly jets I wanted to jump out of planes. 27 years later I am finally doing it. 2.) My wife and kids think it is cool. She is actually happy that I am doing this instead of riding motorcycles. I have always ridden and she always worried. Somehow the thought of me jumping from 2.5 miles up does not bother her which is cool with me. My kids are begging to jump when they get old enough and my wife said no way in God's world she will ever consider doing it. I keep up hope though.
  15. What did I do to deserve you heated anger?! Geez I ALWAYS check in unless of course I forget. But then I get paged and I go to check in. Unless of course I am at the bar and can't hear the page.. I couldn't resist since you specifically said that it was. . .I mean wasn't directed at em. I agree with your frustration here. I don't do night jumps yet but when I do you can bet I will be checking in. You manifest girls take good care of us we should take care of you. (I'll take that beer you promised for the public display of support now..)
  16. I can see where that would be a little difficult. They do this very well at my home DZ. They keep a CLOSE eye on students. It is rare here too. But it does happen on ocassion. I think the thing to remember is that we are counting on fellow human beings to keep and eye out and let's face it there ain't one of us that is ever perfect so sometimes mistakes do happen. We just gotta deal with it and move on. This certainly would not keep me from returning to a DZ.
  17. I travel 1 hour 45 minutes from Columbus, Ohio to AerOhio in Rittman. Worth every minute. Of course I do not do the driving. My best friend does because he LIKES driving and I hate it. Damn SLOW-hio drivers drive me nuts.. I could drive to Skydive Greene County which is only about an hour away but the OSU skydiving course took place at AerOhio, which is how I started, so I just continued to go there. Now it is home. Though I plan on going to SGC for poops and snorts. I hear good things about them. But AeroOhio will always be home for me. Unless of course I move back to Florida then I think I will visit skymama in Deland. Then again, if I go back to Florida I will probably just waste away in Margaritaville with Jimmy. Man I miss the Keys.
  18. Wait till you ride a plane with Foggy. He will stink it up and it wont be a dream. I hope he doesn't visit DZ.com
  19. At my dropzone they ask that everyone check in with manifest after they land. When we manifest we usually say put me on with so and so, what's his face, and the one guy who did that thing that time. Then when we all land one of us goes and tells manifest that we are all here or hey so and so landed off. 99.9 % of the time when someone is landing off somebody catches it and whoever is standing around volunteers to go get them.(I did this for the owner's wife two weeks ago). That said, every once in a while we miss someone and we forget to check in with manifest so no-one knows. In fact, Ohio's oldest active skydiver landed off a while ago by 2 miles and none of us noticed. (And his wife is the manifest girl!) He walked back and we all felt bad but he laughed it off. I think you have to except that sometimes things go wiry and get over it. I mean doesn't every DZ have that sign that says "Skydiving is dangerous. You do not have to jump"? But then again I only have 31 jumps so what do I know? In this case, someone's previous post, who was apparently there, makes this sound more like a case of "I am mad so let me blow things out of proportion." Stepping of my soapbox now.
  20. I disagree. I do not think that skydiving is addicting. As a matter of fact it took me well over a month just to get my A license. I do not think about skydiving all the time. In fact just a second ago I was thinking about eating. I was thinking "Ramen Pride noodles or go to Quaker Steak and Lube." I went for the noodles because I was thinking "If I eat out I will spend money that can better be spent elsewhere." Oh yeah and I was thinking about canopy control so there. See I do not think about skydiving all the time and I am not addicted to skydiving. Welcome to the skies!
  21. Hey Way To Go! My first AFF was October 5th 2003 and I just got my A license on November 9 2003! And I bought my rig too. Looks like I found someone equally addicted as me. Welcome to the forums and welcome to LICENSESHIP!!!! Woohoo! (Hmmm, is licenseship a word? Prolly not but . . .WHO CARES!) Here's to many thousands of jumps for you!.
  22. Nah, I jump in my glasses. By a Bonehead havoc and you can jump all day with your glasses on and they don't fog up . . . often.
  23. Some people just have no brain. I would not have wanted to be in the air with someone who had not jumped in 11 years and did not WANT recurrency training. That is a long time to forget a lot of stuff. Mike, I think you went "above and beyond". You could have justfiably charged much more and no-one would have had a problem with it except for Mr. Farley. Thanks for looking out for the safety of everyone at your DZ. I just received my A lisence and was wondering are you open this winter? Cuz I would love to come jump at your DZ. You seem like good peeps. Take that Mr. Farley.
  24. Yeah what she said. Great job keeping your head. Welcome to the skies and welcome to the forums
