I say no matter what we are talking about. If everything is built to current code then there should be no lawsuit unless gross neglegence can be proven. If I climb on my roof and fall off should I sue the home builder for making the roof to steep? If I load 100,000 pounds of brick on the roof and it collapses and the roof was rated for 20,000 should I get to sue? No. I did not have to put 100,000 pounds on my roof. In truth my kids all agree with me. We just had a discussion as I asked them how my ideas made them feel. Yes it would suck to not be there fore them for however many years I would be put away, but they also said they will sleep better knowing the guy who did this to them could never do it again because he would be dead. They would actually deal with me being in prison fine because they know I would be there because I was protecting them. And I have enough brothers that I would not fear for them while I was put away. Of course how you think you would handle a situ and how you handle it once in it are oftentimes two different scenarios. But for now suffice to say I think they would handle it well. And they would certainly feel safer.

First off you are right. No way my kid goes to that house with a convicted sex offender there. Hell there is no way my child goes to a halfway house even if there are no sex offender's. As a parent my first priority must be their well being and safety. Now let's say someone commits a sexual crime against my child, and I have three, two of them daughters. They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Well, let me tell you, they never seen the fury of this father if his child has been molested. Everytime I see a story of a child molested and/or murdered I think about what I would do. There is no forgiveness in my heart for this and I will break every law I have to to create as much suffering in this person as I possibly can. I would not tell the authorities when my child identified the person. I would capture this person with my brothers and we would spend a month keeping this person alive an torturing them and let me tell you I have a very wild imagination. I have invented things that most people would never think of doing. I would video tape it and make copies and send it to the corners of the earth. Every News station and prison would get a copy and I would let every sick bastard out there know that there are fathers out there who will retaliate with a vengeance that has never yet been seen nor will be seen until Revelations comes true. And I would gladly spend the rest of my life in prison knowing that this person will have suffered to cruelest pain imaginable and there would never be any remorse in my soul for it. I agree Jimbo. WE are the ones affected. Those who break the law will always find ways to circumvent the law. And outlawing guns willonly take the guns out of the hands of lawabiding citizens. You know, two nights ago, (When my fever was at it's highest) I had a dream that I went to pull and my hackey was missing. I could not find it. I tried to find it 3 times and said screw it and went for the reserve. (I tried three cause I was doing a 13000 H&P) Hey it was a dream ok? Anyway . . . I went for my reserve handle and it was not there. I did my check of threes on the plane and everything was there. True, I would wonder why the hell the tail fell off too. And maybe a lawsuit would bring out that there was no neglegence on the part of anyone and it was a new problem that would be addressed in future safety regs. But with juries awarding frivilous amounts on nothing lawsuits I think there needs to be some regulations on people who bring these suits. I think if you bring a suit against anyone and you loose you should have to reimberse all their legal expenses. That might make people think twice and stop the BS lawsuits from people who just want the easy money. Oh and I guess we do agree. Damn. foiled again

Here I will have to disagree. If I fullfill all the guidlines by law, meet all current government safety standards, that should be enough. OF course I should want to exceed them, to improve safety all the time. The problem with your statement is that everyone else cannot possibly know what is enough. Every joe schmoe thinks he knows what is best but most people ar NOT engineers and have no clue what is possible or what is not. At some point you have to realize that the experts know more than joe schmoe in their area of expertise. Now if a large group of engineers said I did not do everything I could have done then maybe I see your point but if just the average guy on the street thinks he knows more about materials, physics, stresses, loadings, heat transfer, etc than the engineer, well, there is something skewed in his thinking. That is why we have governing bodies filled with experts in theirs fields making safety standards. Because the average guy does not know. Therefore if the design met all safety standards at the time of manufacture then there should be no lawsuit.
