In a vacuum, they'd be correct. In a vacuum, they'd be dead. Exactly, and dead people are NEVER wrong -

I have suffered from chronic nightmares since I was a child. Sometimes I wake up and have to grab my wife to make the images go away. And yes the affects linger for days. What I have noticed is that it is one of two themes or variations of the same theme maybe. I am either running from something and cannot get away or running to something and cannot catch it. I had read something in a book when I a teen and I do not remember the book but I remember what it said. It said that control of ones dreams can be learned through performing an exercise and so I tried it. Took well over a year but it worked to some extent. I set an alarm to go off ever hour and wrote down my dreams that I had during that hour of sleep. At first I could not remember anything about the dream. But by the third time I could remember some details. AS I continued doing this for several weeks I began to notice that I was remembering more andmore details. I was also able to extend the time between alarms. Eventually you will go all night adn be able to remember most fo the dreams but they will seem like one dream with ever changing scenes. What this seems, I am no expert here, to do is help you remember, as you are dreaming, that it is a dream and that therefore you have a certain amount of control over what is going on. Sometimes it gets really weird though, Like you tell yourself you have a gun so you get a gun and it turns out to be a toy nerf gun and you change it in your dream to a real gun only to end up with a stun gun, or one of those vaccine air guns, and so you change it agin. Even this weird thing, however takes the focus off of the event going on and places it on your actions that are not so much scary as comical and by the time you can fix it your mind has shifted through sleep phases and you are on to another dream. Point is, I still have my nightmares, but they are not so bad anymore and they do not have the same affect on me because I can actually tell myself that what I am seeing is not real and then I prove it by doing something totally impossible in real ife. Maybe you should try it and see if it works. That is if your nightmares are as often as mine are.

Guess I don't get that one. You saying the USPA would not use the money for it's intended purpose? Or am I reading that wrong? -

Thanks for the update. As far as having to be un-insured for 2-3 years. There is nothing that says we can't have a policy in effect now, then in preparation for self-insurance or higher premiums, we could still raise the price per jump by 1 dollar and in a few or more than a few years see where we are? This way we are not diverting current funds we are creating new funds with a specific goal in mind. Of course we would probably have to somehow vote on it or soemthing to protect jumpers from ever increasing unecessary "jump taxes". -

USPA Member ??? READ THIS !!!

IN RESPONSE TO EVERYONE: Okay, A. I was not talking about forming a Union. I was talking about how they were able to take a member base of 500-600 over a 40 year period and invest properly to have a fund that has well over 80 million (noticed I missed a zero in my original post) and grows constantly thereby providing all the benefits including retirment to their members. B. Said that so that we could discuss doing the same sort of thing for the USPA to somehow afford Insuracnce etc. C. In response to the Union Argument. Yes, Unions have done a lot for the working conditions for this country. Now they are bastardized versions of what they once were. Collective bargaining in it's purest form says, we will provide a service to you the company but we want good wages, good benefits and certain protections from being abused. In return we will offer you better quality by training through apprenticeship programs and such. Now this is how it really works. I a union member work for x dollars an hour and you cannot fire me without due process and I will only do so much for you, the employer, each day as we have negotiated. Should lay-offs be necessary you cannot lay me, the lazy only do what I am required by contract worker, off. Why? Because I have 12 years here and you have not layed-off the guy who has 6 years but does far superior work in a shorter amount of time. My seniority guarantees that I keep my job. The union mentality of lots of pay for little work of poor craftsmanship has become part of the problem with this country. Now, before any union brothers go getting pissy. There are many within union ranks who work hard, take pride in what they do, and provide top quality work. Unfortunately, I would bet many of you experience problems with your co-workers who do little and reap the same benefits as you. In my union experience, which spans insulation, steel, freight and communications (I was a member of the Heat Frost Insulators Union, My wife, father, mother and Mother-in-law were all CWA, my grandfather was Teamster's back in Jimmy's day, and I currently work with SteelWorkers at my new company, but not with the union as I am now on the other side) and spans my entire life, I have seen the unions become fat and lazy. And yes I was actively involved in things like strikes with my father and grandfather, and they taught me to be pro-union and why. They are sickened by how things have changed. As an Insulator I was told to only do 3.5 rolls of duct wrap per day, no matter how quickly the job went because that was what we were contracted for. On many jobs I was able to do, not 2, not 3 not even 4, but 5 times that much and when I did I was chastised and ridiculed by my co-workers for making them look bad. I believe I do the best I can with what I am given and that I am being paid good money to WORK. Doing 3.5 rolls when you can clearly do more, to me is not work. Then we wonder why companies want to send jobs oversees where more work is done for less pay? Unions done right are a great thing. Today's unions? They are a disease. The nepitism within the unions is killing them like cancer. You got a guy who doesn't want to work bringing his son, who he has taught the same values, into the local. Hell one could call it inbreeding. Now back top the real reason for my post. Not union BS but investment of Membership dues. Is the idea I preposed even remotely viable? How about this? If every USPA member DZ were to add one dollar to the cost of every jump and place that into an insurance fund we would be seeing well over 3 million a year, right? Invested properly by the board of the USPA we could easily be self insured in no time. Is this a viable option? Just looking for answers. Unfortunately this thread has been hard to follow and I may be proposing something that has already been proposed. If I have refer me to the responses and I will shut up. -
Sounds like I won't be flying this canopy anytime soon

Yeah I just realized I only have the hip rings. No chest ring. Any chance anyone can post a pic of the chest ring?

Don't listen to the moochers! Listen, Give up the beer, get the gear, then go back to beer. If you cannot stomach completely giving up the hops then buy a keg, it gives the lowest cost per unit price and it will last quite some time. Then you can save up money for the gear because you will not have to worry about spending money on the beer.

I do not get into any kind of racing but I must say watching the last 30 or so laps was pretty fun. My best friend is a huge NASCAR fan so he was kinda answering questions helping me to understand. It was kinda cool to watch really. Wouldn't spend a whole day doing it for a whole race though. Rather be watching skydiving videos if I cannot jump.

Must be true cuz that's what she said. I guess I am just lucky she puts up with it.

Sounds like you have a problem with rednecks. Actually just watched Dale Jr. win the Daytona 500. Only watched the last 30 laps and I must say I got pretty into it in the last 15. I can see how some people are into it. I don't understand how people like Asparagus, cooked spinach, and whiskey. Blech! -
oh God no . . .

Never a truer word spoken. Wow....and I thought I was a dumbass. Yeah that suddenly makes all the dumbass things I ever did seem pale in comparison.

Ladies and gentlemen, My fellow Americans, the first female President of the United States . . . Carress! So then would President's day become a steak and BJ day too?

You know? This is the one Holiday I do not understand. I have my wife's birthday where I celebrate her birth as God's gift to me. Then we celebrate the day that we met as the day that my spirit first woke from slumber. Then it is our wedding aniversary where we celebrate the day we pledged our choice to love one another above all else. Now add to that I spend every day telling her how much I love her, how important she is to me, how I would not get through a day if she were ever taken from my life. Cards, flowers, love notes around the house. Hugs, kisses, and other things. She knows how much I hate valentines day, and yet she insists on buying me a card knowing full well I refuse to by into that bogus and most commercial of holidays. She never gets mad that I do not celebrate it. She never gives me a hard time, but always, always, always she buys a card which makes me feel like I have somehow let her down by not getting her one for this damn day. I do not think she means to but I cannot get her to stop buying damn cards for V-day. So did my V-day plans go as expected? No - or should I say yes. I got another damn card. Now I feel guilty. I guess she feels she does not show her love for me enough throughout our lives. I cannot seem to get her to understand that I will die knowing that she loves me with every ounce of herself. So why the damn card? I hate V-day! Maybe next year I should just break down and buy a freakin card.

Can someone explain to me . . . what is an adult toy store? And why would you want to go to a sleazy one? Doesn't that mean you'd just get screwed?
