  6. Same here, as an Engineer I am a logical person (mostly). It was reasoningout the scriptures that brought me to a point that they were real. It still required a step of faith however, since proof was not forth coming. Once I took that leap of faith however. God opened my eyes to many wonderful things. Previous post of mine (which are posted after yours that I am responding to) try to say the same thing.
  7. Huh? Does not the word average mena that some live longer and some live less? Not possible that John lived longer? Wow you must have a time travel machine or some amzing powers or access to death records no one else has ever seen. As far as religion, religion is ritualistic conformity. I have a relationship with a living loving God. Hey Meunkel, I'm with you. I have seen to many things to tell me that my faith is real. Including hearing the voice of God on one occassion. And I do not care if people think I am crazy either. I don't live for them, but for Him.
  8. I think everyone needs new avatars anyway. There should be a thirty day limit and then you have to post a new one. Yeah, I like that Idea.
  9. Really? And you know this how? Have you and I had an in depth discussion of my views of what is said in the Bible? How is it that you know EXACTLY what I think without me telling you? Are you that arrogant?Do you know my life story? Do you have one inkling of insight into what led me to a life of faith? Have you walked in my shoes, seen what I've seen, lost what I've lost, gained what I've gained, and done what I have done? Have you any clue of the peaks and valleys of my life? My joys? My Sorrows? My hopes and fears? What part of my life do you even remotely have any clue to? Please oh almighty seer and knower of all things pertaining to me, enlighten us on your great and vast knowledge. Show us your power. (I hope you sense the sarcasm because I am laying it on thick.) You say that to read the Bible with an open mind means that you will come to a conclusion that it is false. You have no idea why, where, how or in what state MY mind was in before, during or after I read it. Reading it with an open mind means you will draw your own conclusions. For your information, I read the Bible to DISCREDIT it in a five year attempt to show my wife that she was following RELOGION in a blind, small minded point of view. I went into it BELIEVE, hell, KNOWING it was a book written by men and trasnlated into a set of mind controlling laws to control the masses and keep them uninformed. What I found in the end was truth. I went in with a CLOSED mind thinking "This is crap." and walked out with an open mind of the love God has for me. Instead of being told what to believe (true or false) I walked out with my own beliefs. I did not become a true free thinker until that moment. Do not be so arrogant as to assume that you know my life, and my state of mind. It shows how much of a fool you are. Anyone who does not think as you do is not a free thinker? That's your stance? I freely choose to think differently than you. That makes me a free thinker. I freely choose to go the way that is right for my life. That makes me a free thinker. I freely choose to believe, live, act, speak and love in the way I believe to be right. That is free thinking. I freely profess my faith in God without care of the way people like you talk or think about me. That is free thinking. Yes, I accepted the scriptures on faith after reading them. Because logically, it made sense to my free thinking mind. If that makes me weakminded in the eyes of someone I neither know, see, nor enjoy the company of, fine. I will let you know when I loose sleep over it. Don't hold your breath. In fact, if any of my friends decided they did not want to be friends with me because of my beliefs, I would still believe that way freely. I will not succumb to peer pressure to change my mind. That makes me a free thinker. Furthuremore, your response does not discount my original statement. You still took scripture out of context and twisted it to your own ends. And I know this because I see what you said it meant and I look at what it says in context with the chapter it is in and any fool can see you are missing (deliberately or otherwise) the key point of that part of Acts. My response to that still stands. As far a BLINDLY accepting it as faith. There again you are wrong. Many times in scriptures, God says "Come let us REASON together." He does not want blind automatons. God wants people who know what they believe and why. That hardly is BLIND faith. He wants people who can say what they believe, why they believe it and why it is right. HE wants people who can effectively bring others to know Him. That cannot be done blindly. And according to those Scriptures, YOU are the one who is Blind. That is not from me, that is from God. So don't shoot the messenger. On second thought, go ahead and shoot me so I can go home.
  10. Dude, that's harsh. Rub salt in his wound

Hey Lisa! I use them as my closing loop!
  13. They were struck down for their sin against the Holy Spirit. They lied to God. Period. That is why they were struck down. Not because they did not give up their posessions. They could have siad, I will give up this much, and as long as they did that they would have been in no trouble at all. But they said they were giving up everything, pretended to, and then lied about it when confronted. You should read things in context, not twist them to your own game.
  14. AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Now, Everyone talks about the portrayal of Pilate being wrong in the film. Do not forget that Pilate decided to give the crowd a choice. Free Jesus or Barabbas(? someone correct the name here) a known and convicted murderer. They chose Barabbas. Pilate said, in reference to Christ, "I find no fault with this man." His fear of the crowd, however, prevented him from setting Christ free. The crowd killed Christ. And if I had been in that crowd, I most likely would have killed Him too. That is the point. Of course, as Luvtofly said. None of us could actually kill Christ. What He did, He did willingly out of love. He even said as much as He lay himself down on the cross. Our disobedience, however, made it necessary, and in that way we killed Him. Not Romans, not Jews, but mankind. And I for one will not forget the awesome gift He has given me. Thank you God, for Your grace.
  15. Earlier this month I was looking at getting a 160 PDR. I just bought a 210 Pilot. The only reason I was thinking about buying it was because it was used for a good price. Needless to say, I was not thinking at all. Quite a few people smacked me upside the head saying why a 160 with a 210? Duh, I realized my mistake and said thanks and did not buy the 160. One of the things that people kept repeating to me is that one of the functions of my reserve (when taken together with my cypress) is to hopefully get me to the ground safely should I be unconscious. Would you really want to land a reserve loaded 1.4 while unconscious? Armed with this new info I am not going to go over a wingloading of 1 on my reserve. Think about this, please, before you heavily load your reserve. To all of you who smacked me upside the head, thanks for looking out for me.
  16. Yeah....well you don't live somewhere launching a crusade against media of all forms because we saw Janet Jacksons boob for a split second. More importantly, you do not know what company I work for nor do you know what they consider to be internet porn, I could very well get fired for opening that up at work.
  17. well let's see. Consider that I did my AFF 1 on October 5th of last year and got my 33 jump on December 28th. That means that I am still in my first year in the sport. So let's assume I am in year one and include everything I have spent to date (which is 5 months). $2386 on getting my A lisence $166.00 on jumps 26-33 $2600 on my used G3 with PD reserve and Cypress $350 on my Bev Suit $129 on my Galaxy Alti (used) $544 on my Havoc and my Neptune $435 on my Da' Kine Rags freefly suit $80 on my two pairs of Converse All-stars (bought to jump in) $1439 on my New Pilot 210 $1000 on my Hornet 230 Money to be spent by end of March $1600 for new G3 for my new Pilot $925 for PD Reserve 218 $1200 for Cypress 2 (unless I can get a good deal on used Cypress) $900 on Wind Tunnel just before the Sebastian boogie. $XXXXXX dollars on Sabastian boogie Total in 6 months (includes March) $13,754 + $XXXXXX Holy shit! No wonder I have no damn money! I actually had no idea I spent that much. Like someone else said, I am also in the next tier. I voted wrong saying between 5 and 10 thousand. Opps.
  18. My thoughts exactly. I think we should, as Christians, support the work Mel has done. Even if it is just by buying the DVD. This film is certainly gotta be better than some of the crap being put out there by other director/producers. Bill, I certainly respect your opinion and have no problem with your take on it.
  19. I voted "Could not live without her." It is not always fun and games. We have our own views on things that often collide. Sometimes life keeps us so busy we don't have time to go somewhere to be alone. But, when we walk passed each other in the tiny hall of our home and have to squeeze by, one or both of us will still reach around and squeeze a butt. Or we'll smile at each other and kiss as we pass. Or maybe just lightly brush hands. We still wrestle around like teenagers. Any given day can find one of us chasing the other around the house just for fun. We still have plenty to talk about. Sometimes we still stay up till well into morning just talking about everything and nothing like we did when we first were getting to know one another. Even though neither of us have the bodies we had when we first married, I still find myself staring at her, or I will catch her just watching me. We still enjoy the physical part of our relationship. Basically, we love each other unconditionally. And after 12 years, I still don't sleep well if I can't feel her there. She is my partner, my friend, my life. I would give everything up, including skydiving, if she needed me to. And I know she would do the same for me. Love is work, marriage is not easy, but the hard times make the good times that much sweeter. And it just keeps getting better with time.
  20. um I hope it means beer, otherwise I am afraid.
  21. Hey Andrea! Thanks for adding my name to the list. I rarely make it into this forum and I came to see and there I was! I'm so excited, And I just can't hide it, I know I know I know I know I know I want to . . . JUMP!
  22. So I'm asking, overall, society-wide, does everyone agree with the Christians that gay people should get it on all day long? Wow, all Chritstians who are against gay marriage are condoning promiscuity amongst gay society? You actually need help from people outside your relationship to maintain monogamy? What? You have no character to maintain a committed relationship without the "support of society"? Guess if I call myself Christian in your eyes I want you to be promiscous. Here's a statement equally as asinine. All gay men want to have sex with underage boys. Sounds stupid, doesn't it? Why? I am sure you know why. And it probably pisses you off. Yet, haven't you just done the same thing?
  23. I have to say the smell of farts makes me think of Otter flights too! You must know Foggy!
