PA's don't count as long as there's a mod that agree's with you. -- Rob -
no, and you can't tell me how many were not members of the Taliban. And I wouldn't ask such an asinine question. zero. He's not an Afghani national. see my first response in this post. Don't be a dick. He gave his life fighting for something he believed in. Friendly fire sucks yeah, but combat is combat. Ever been shot at? By someone trying to kill you? also, the unfeeling term "collateral damage" is an unfortunate reality of the real world colliding with combat. War sucks. Yeah.... nobody will disagree with that. -- Rob

that's is what I was asking for the source for. The rest of your post is clearly conjecture and/or opinion. I won't try to counter or ask for proof of it. Not because there is none (for I don't know that) but because it's your opinion. And I don't care to reverse your opinion if I could. -- Rob

actually I thought his question was "Do cellphones work so well in those conditions? " If he's asking specifically if the phone works on that particular flight, then the answer is of course indeterminate. It looked like he was asking about speed and altitude, so I thought your answer made perfect sense wrt the question. -- Rob

So.., as suggested you have no self restraint. put a piece of chocolate in front of me and watch what happens. some restraint. but not when it comes to chocolate, and web forums. *** Are you a member of ,or have you ever been a member of the military ,rhaig? I have never been enlisted in any military organization. All my beliefs regarding military service come from working closely with military service men (active duty and otherwise) as a civilian contractor. -- Rob

it's like a train wreck. I just can't not look. -- Rob

my point was you pick a line below which you don't tax, and another line above which you accerate the tax rate. I'd prefer something along the lines of the fair tax proposal (http://fairtax.org/). The only downside to it is that it discourages spending, and we don't need to discourage spending right now. Once the recovery has taken hold, it would be a better time to implement it as at ends up increasing cashflow (both positive and negative) for consumers. -- Rob

can we please get a killfile feature? -- Rob

is that opinion, or do have something credible to back that up? added: I meant my question to refer to your last paragraph. -- Rob

Are you an American or a republican? That is the question.

Is that state or what? What is the employer? I find it hard to believe, is there a website? the way I read it was that when he said at my property insinuated that he was paying these employees to work on his property. you may have missed those 3 words if you just skimmed the second paragraph. -- Rob -
Kinda hard to tax the poor. Remember, money is taxed, not people. Don't like taxes, don't move money. so it really is all about arbitrary lines then. -- Rob

What do you think this is? Twenty Questions? he's jsut trying to understand your reasoning like many here tried to understand the reasoning behind awarding the Nobel to Obama. -- Rob

read further up and you'll see where I note that the REMF's have an effect on the front line troops. You inferred from my statement that I was disparaging the REMF's. When to me it sounded like you were doing the same. -- Rob -

when I don't agree with them you bet your ass I do. I don't expect that my bitching and moaning will make a difference about either though. Neither is something voted upon. My question has been pretty consistent. I wonder what he did to deserve the nomination in the first week and change of his presidency. Now that I've seen the rationale behind the comittee's decision, I understand why they did it. I think that awarding the prize based on what someone might do cheapens the name and value of the award, but I understand their thought process. .... and I know that my opinion means crap-all to the comittee. You don't hear about me calling them to correct them do you? No, because really I don't care. Certainly not now that the Nobel prize is being awarded based on potential. Especially not when it was likely awarded to try to influence policy decisions. (my opinion that means crap-all again) -- Rob -

And with recent Repubs, they are concerned for their cronies with taxes. Tell me how Obama is being self-serving by wantint to raise taxes on teh rich (himself) and by getting HC to all, considering he has never wanted for HC. you keep bringing up the Obama administration. Defensive? I mentioned political parties in general. As everyone has pretty much agreed, the Obama admin hasn't had much of a chance to do a whole lot. Though you can bet that the party has a say in what happens. Have to maintain the reputation of the party. -- Rob -

rhaig replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
Political parties are more concerned with themselves and not the state of the country. it used to be that a president's second term was where he would get things done because he didn't have to worry about re-election. Now, the first term is where the president establishes reputation and gets re-elected, and the second term is where the president worries about the party. somewhere in there the country lost -- Rob -

Only if you value the winning over everything else. Some people think that winning something without deserving it isn't worth anything. Who deserves to win is decided by the committee. Their prize, their decision. blah blah blah... you've already established that your opinion is meaningless -- Rob -

take your pick... which are we? though I wouldn't say that the citizens fail the government. I would say that they've failed each other, and those that fought to establish this country. -- Rob -

actually, you stated as fact (not a suggestion) that a "large chunk of the military sits behind a desk for their entire careers". -- Rob -

it also sounds like a reference to the above mentioned divorce rate statistic. (much higher among married couples) -- Rob -
the friends I have that do business with the military (wrt ammo and munitions) echoed the last point to me. They also understood that the conversion to 9mm was because of the ready supply of 9mm ammo, and so so the soldier could carry more rounds as well as have more in the magazine. That was expanded on by adding that the reason they need more rounds is because soldiers in general do not train with "hot" weapons, and are not as accurate because of their comfort levels. I do not know of any data regarding that opinion, it was passed on to me over beer. Reportedly from a Major in the Army. So this is 2nd hand at best. Though not the only time I've heard complaints about lack of training with hot weapons. -- Rob

Isn't it clear to everyone? They chose him becaue as the sitting president, he couldn't accept the money. They're having a party with strippers and booze at this very moment. -- Rob
