companies won't raise their prices or they'll go out of business - they'll steadily improve the productivity of their workers instead

nature vs nurture. you may have the brain to be very productive in society, and have a high IQ. But if you never learn the habits to promote that behavior, but instead learn habits to live off of the government, then the behavior can become self perpetuating. -- Rob

Because inflation either cancels the gain out or gives them even less buying power, nope

I think we might see a stab at amnesty or some other immigration reform towards the end of this term to get the "look what I did" sound bites... I don't know that there would be any gun control try until a possible second term. Even then, There's so much "do what's good for the party, to keep the party in control" as opposed to "do what you believe is right" that I think any gun control ramp-up would be put down by the Dem Party leaders. -- Rob

I'm not aware of a change in the production rate, and I believe the answers to the rest of your questions is no. I don't believe there's been much change around the laws regarding the purchase and use of firearms. When states started issusing carry permits, one of the things the opponents trumpeted was that we would have the "shootout at the OK Corral". People would be shooting in the streets at each other, because everyone had guns. Clearly that hasn't happened. Some places have experienced an overall reduction in violent crime. It's near impossible to say for certain that the CHL laws are what made the difference, but they clearly didn't cause the shootouts in the streets that were feared by some. -- Rob

Same as those who speculate that more guns LEADS to less (or at least not more) crime. ok. so you're battling suppositions with suppositions. Good luck with that. At least you shouldn't pretend like you don't know why nobody takes you seriously. Well, for several million people I am a nobody. But when did I allow you to talk for me? don't believe I was replying to you. But if you feel like people here aren't taking you seriously, maybe my statement applies. Are you battling suppositions with suppositions? -- Rob

Right, so that means the Dems aren't looking so bad. There you go again assuming you know what I think. Remember what Benny Hill said what happens when you assume? It makes as ass out of u and me. (just the way it's spelled) We are, at least our system of election works that way. Of course enter thej electoral college and we're a bastardized democracy. Here come the representative Republic fanatics. We elect our representatives in a quasi- democratic way. ah... so you DO know how it works. So you also know that the national popular vote means crap-all. Anything beyond that is noise. -- Rob

ah yes... the majority of the popular vote... if only we were a democracy. but we're not. -- Rob
-
No, it does not, as there is a probability that without the guns the drop in crime rate would be significantly larger. where did you read that? Or are you must making suppositions? (you're allowed to make suppositions, but then you don't have much ground to stand on when people start supposing right back at you) -- Rob

Statistical analysis is not your strong point, it seems. all it shows is that at the same time that there are more states adopting shall issue laws for CHL's, there is also a down trend in firearm homicides. Also, at the same time, there is nothing to show they are directly related and neither is there anything to show they are completely disassociated. statistics are near meaningless. -- Rob

"If you voted for Obama … seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your healthcare begin right now, not in four years." "I'm not turning anybody away — that would be unethical, but if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it." -- Rob -
