The Unemployed Now Have Their Own Union, and It's Catching on Quickly

imagine the stop-work protests. I supposed they could picket. They do have plenty of time. Except that they should be LOOKING FOR JOBS! -- Rob -
Rock Island Armory's tactical 1911. put some slim grips on it and you're set. http://www.google.com/products?q=rock+island+armory+1911+tactical&aq=f -- Rob

lik you said. doesn't hurt to ask. Chalk it up to experience. Not sure how to properly dispose of ammo that's too much trouble to shoot. I don't know that I'd be comfortable just tossing a brick of .22 in the trash. I'd probably call the gun shop and ask for suggestions. or find someone with the tools and the time to disassemble it all for the lead. -- Rob

this is where I differ. I don't think it should be a law. If lenders want to loan that much more to someone based on their history of payment and ability to pay, that's their business decision. If that person defaults, then the lender eats it. They shouldn't be bailed out by the government. More severe consequences mean more thought in the lending policy. -- Rob

but clearly you missed my point. clever attacks against groups, as defined in your own post. as a mod, you should hold yourself to a higher standard. if you can't, then your moderation slant starts showing (yes, we all know about it, but dont say much because it's usually well hidden). so either be a mod, or dont. quit riding the line. -- Rob

yes bill, that's exactly what you're saying. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1155892 It's your own post. Man up for fuck's sake. You're smarter than that. -- Rob

If you're not saying anything, why the fuck bring it up? I'm not saying you're a child eating, woman dismembering pyromaniac. Not at all. I seem to have struck a nerve... -- Rob

Perhaps it was a little immediate gratification, maybe a necessary evil. When you say longer, I think you mean 5 - 10 years longer and I think we both know that. so far I'm with you, but don't pretend to know what I think. And I won't pretend to know what you think. buying some car manufacturers that couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag was not retooling or investing in infrastructure. It was simply injecting cash into the situation. Note that I said "re-tooling failing industry." Not "buying out of failing industry" if what was proposed was instead a large government contract to GM to re-tool some plants and build (for government purchase and implementation) parts for solar power plants, along with long term leases or purchase of some mostly unused land in some of our more sparsely populated states, coupled with construction contracts for solar power plants, then THAT would be retooling. *** What else would you add? I posted: - Do nothing - Stimulus good - Tax cuts Not sure what I missed. And by placing 10 options some of the meaning gets convoluted and diluted, so I wanted to keep it general. ah... your posts are never convoluted... yet while "keeping it general", you made the first option so specific that it has no meaning any longer. (except to you and how you would twist any vote for that option) yes, your post later cleared things up a bit, but if your main purpose was trying to "keep it general", you would have done so in the posting of the questions. Clearly that wasn't your main thought when devising questions for the poll. -- Rob

yeah... I doubt that the presidential administration had anything to do with a new missle defense logo. But there once was a country in economic peril, it found a young, charasmatic leader with great vision and direction, that rallies the population to improve the economy, yet greatly divides the population on political boundaries.... Is that paragraph about 1930's germany, or 2000's US? It all depends on what happens next. Am I saying Obama is Hitler? No. Don't try to put those words in my mouth. Do I think he is evil? Other than being a politician, no... Not yet. -- Rob

I believe that letting the economy fixing itself would have taken longer, but may have been better for our country in the long run. HOWEVER I think the problem is that the quick fix (the stimulus package) should be seen as baggage. It's not possible to know how long the economy would have taken to fix itself (outside of some educated guesses) so it's hard to weigh the consequences (baggage of the massive extra debt) vs the benefits. Also, misapplication of stimulus funds can cause or is causing (depending on who you talk to) more baggage. If we'd put it in to infrastructure, and re-tooling of failing industries, instead of just injecting cash into the system (which is mostly all it has done so far) the effects would be much more long lasting. The extra qualification you put on your "do nothing" option in this poll means that there are not any valid choices for some responders. This is why statistics and polls suck. They tell the story that those gathering the numbers want to be told. -- Rob

It's Time to Enact Health Care Reform With 51 Senate Votes
rhaig replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
To me that's semantics. I don't care what you call it. As I see it, that compares to uneducated people calling themselves street smart so they can use the word, "smart" in their description. my question was really mean more to ask "do you understand the reasoning of the founding fathers when they decided on a republic rather than a democracy?" It's not clear that you do. -- Rob -
I hope it's going to be a recirculating model. Otherwise I'll be able to hear it in operation from my front door. -- Rob

you're implying that you do NOT want to take guns away from everyone. Can you make a simple statement to that effect? -- Rob

Please describe to me a way to make it harder for the loonies and criminals to get guns that won't make it harder (or not as much harder) for the law abiding citizen to get guns? -- Rob

It's Time to Enact Health Care Reform With 51 Senate Votes
rhaig replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
both yous posts read like bad ad copy. "less sugar!" (less han what?) well... a majority of what?? you're referring (it appears) to a majority of our congressmen. but you're talking about two bills like they were one. skyrider is likely talking about a poll of the people, though unreferenced, so I' just guessing. Polls tell you what the question writers want them to tell you. -- Rob -
oh hell.... a skyventure tunnel less than 2 miles from my house. I'm going to love it. My checkbook is going to hate it. -- Rob

I have a better idea. How about literacy tests and poll taxes? (nice knee-jerk, content-less response. btw) see, in today's world, you just have to pay attention. You don't have to be able to read, or have money in order to learn what your candidate stands for. Straight ticket voters should get a boot in the ass. That's ignorance or laziness plain and simple. Part of our problem today is people aren't invested in the choices they make. "let me vote for the woman for that office, and the black guy for that office, and the old white dude for that office... nah, I don't know what they stand for, and I won't care how they do their jobs" That's the attitude I see in a lot of todays voters. Do I think there would ever be such a quiz enacted? No. Because of the literacy test and poll taxes of the past, there will never be any obstacles to voting. Nor should there be. I just wish there were some way to make people give a shit enough to know who they're voting for. But not only do voters not give a shit about the issues, other voters (apparently you, though I could be wrong. your response didn't give much indication of anything) don't give a shit that some voters don't give a shit. -- Rob
