  1. well, tea party members aren't just going to come out and say - i'm racist (even they know that's a politically negative thing to say) actions and beliefs. not words. words can deceive too. what actions have they done, or beliefs that they hold make you believe they are racist? or is is simply the majority of their membership being one color that has helped you form your opinion? from this thread you are the only tea party advocate that admits the historical need for affirmative action. the others can't even get that far. it's like arguing with people who say they are not anti semitic - but at the same time say they don't believe in the holocaust. so you haven't stated any reason for believing that they are racist other than your prejudice. I will just have to take that as the only reason until you inform me of your other reasons. -- Rob

  3. People donate money to help a cause they appreciate. People are able to donate more money because there is a tax write off available. Nobody donates money for a tax write off. That doesn't even make sense. Haven't there been cases where someone forms a foundation, gives a bunch of money to it, puts their son in charge, and then uses that money to pay for the kid's travel, jet, and other goodies? Answer -yes, because I know of someone who did exactly that. certainly. there are ways to game any system. especially when our tax code is so complicated. simplify the tax code. Abolish income tax, institute a national sales tax. -- Rob
  4. then hockey is racist too by that logic because a group is composed mostly of one race, does not make it racist. it's actions or beliefs determine that. you are engaging in wholesale prejudice whether you recognize it or not. let me summarize: "it's a group of mostly white people forming a political movement. They're racist." is that about right? Or di you have anything else that helped you form that opinion? -- Rob
  5. I think that where racism is perceived, people will continue to use the legal system to expose and correct it. Affirmative action exposed white-first institutionalized racism. Now, AA extends the life of institutionalized racism, but in the other direction. How about instead of making vague comments about the police stealing something back, or asking open-ended question, you tell us all why you think AA is still needed? btw, if you're going to berate canuck for not answering your question, how about mine? -- Rob
  6. 50 years ago, it was needed. Now, it is institutional racism. There should not be a "race" set of checkboxes on any college application. No unqualified applicant should be hired for a job or admitted to a school over a qualified applicant based on race. By making race a factor at all (even if it's not the only factor), affirmative action is (by definition) pre-judging an applicant based on their race. Prejudice based on race. That's racism isn't it? (by the way, nice non-answer on my question. because you know the answer would have involved "what color is bob") -- Rob
  7. so you're saying that if Joe and Bob both apply for the same position, and Joe gets that job because of his race, and Bob is left unemployed, that it's not racism? -- Rob
  8. Me neither, so I have no idea what are you talking about. I think he's referring to this http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=3790162;so=ASC;sb=post_latest_reply;#3788922 while you don't say anything about creation of a police force, neither does he. He's referring to an apparatus through which citizens inform (or blow the whistle to use your term) on each other. -- Rob

  10. but did it snow there yet, or are they flying the snow in from elsewhere yet? -- Rob
  11. calling me clueless? veiled insult? don't worry. you won't get a warning. it's not like moderation is handed out evenly or anything here. I was suggesting you're a bit edgy. did I make any comment about your beliefs in the post you replied to? it was a fucking joke. try decaf, or better yet, take a deep breath before you hit "post" (apparently the decaf comment offended your 2nd amendment sensibilities or something) -- Rob
  12. Indeed! Why that greedy corrupt government does not allow me to own a bazooka for self-defense from those ugly military robots they develop? It is of course the part of their strategy - so all your guns gonna be all useless against government invasion. And we all know what happens next - those CRIMINALS will steal those robots (you know, they are criminals, they steal everything) and hack them to commit murders, robberies and rapes - making a honest gun owner completely defenseless against them! Also it would be fun visiting that place where open-carry nuts crowd gets together while carrying a nice bazooka. Maybe some of them would immediately get an idea that just maybe open carry is not really a good idea. dammit george!! why do you have to turn every thread into a gun thread!! Hell! this started out as a thread about a shotg... oh. yeah... move along. nothing to see here. -- Rob
  13. You would think a dude that is afraid of guns and gun owner would not make machine gun posts ! I own more guns than most, even so-called gun rights enthusiasts. You once again are w/o any understanding of what you state. try decaf... -- Rob
  14. the guys that tick me off are the ones that race up past everyone else (sometimes on some shoulder) and expect me to let them in. I let people in who merge before the line goes away. After the line goes away, I'll let them in if they have their signal on. Never let the hot chick in front of you though. Because very rarely will she ever pull over and fuck you after. -- Rob
  15. never actually heard it pronounced with the P. Maybe it's a regional thing. But in 40 years, the last 20 involving frequent interaction with military personnel and contractors, I've not heard the P pronounced. hmmm -- Rob
  16. Nope-just noting a lack of variety from you. What's the matter, did he get under your skin? :) -- Rob
  17. looks like someone complaining (whining) about air travelers and crew not thinking of other people first when traveling. wah! a business traveler knows all these things that were whined about. get on your flight earlier, you'll have overhead space. get to the airport a bit earlier, you'll not care who's taking an extra 3min in security line. I was hoping for a news story about someone going postal in the security line. Not a whiny avweb article. -- Rob
  18. So is it, "corpman" or "corpsman?" I presented evidence of corpsman, here's evidence of corpman being used by a Navy site: http://www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=9015 SO WTF? If the US Navy can use it, teh pres can't? Did he misspeak or not? SO his policies have flipped the GDP huge time, slammed the market past 10k and now unemp has fallen to 9.7 and all you can do is hope for US failure and complain that he misspoke a word, even if he didn't? Gottta hurt seeing Obama look like such a buffoon It appears it is those who can't determine the correct spelling of "corpsman" or "corpman" to be the buffoons. I know you can, enlighten us. So Obama spelled the word incorrectly? No... he pronounced it incorrectly. It appears there are 2 spellings of the word in use in the wild. -- Rob
  19. good thing Obama took a different tack then. -- Rob
  20. Damn, you got me! I was trying to be slick but I could'nt get it by you............. .....look your shoe is untied................ Look, shiny keys. shiny!!! ooohhh... what were we talking about? -- Rob
