you may note that the DC ban was ruled unconstitutional in Heller v. DC. And ChangoLanzao wasn't talking about a ban, but regulation of firearms. Which Heller v. DC established to be constitutional. Also note that that ruling established the individual right to keep and bear arms. (yes, that's from wikipedia, but it's a pretty good summary, inserting the operative clause after it's referenced making it easier to read) The reference to regulation referred to above comes from When those conditions or qualifications become excessive, then there may be another court case. Until then, SCOTUS has ruled, and I've not heard many pro-gun people disagree. (edit to fix attribution) -- Rob

Did Bush Jr just admit to committing war crimes?

Is it torture to shoot the enemy with a round that is small enough to not kill them, but will require at least 2 more soldiers to care for them? -- Rob -
I don't know about you're area of the world, but there's plenty of clean fresh water here in TX. I think we'll be just fine still. Were you trying to imply something? -- Rob

Worked so well for us in Vietnam. do you believe activism and demonstrations during the Vietnam war were at the same levels of today? I believe they were higher. Which would indicate a public more connected to what is going on overseas. -- Rob

the point of the sign as I read it is that those who are not directly involved with the military (through direct family members) are so disconnected from any damage done that they are not involved at all (other than watching on the news once in a while). -- Rob

my wife is amazed about the slang terms I know for different parts of the body. I'm amazed she's never heard of the rusty sheriff's star, or the chocolate star, or the red-eye, or a skin flute, or a meat flute... the list goes on. -- Rob

I could get behind that. a quick googling tells me http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/politicians_with_children_in_iraq/ ***It turns out that no less than five federal legislators (four Republicans and a Democrat) have children currently serving in Iraq. (it has a cite for that but it's expired) -- Rob

That wouldn't be fair - I believe there are still some that haven't been indicted. that's kind of like "There are two kinds of pilots, those who have landed with the gear up, and those who have yet to land with the gear up." :) -- Rob

"crooked politician" it would be more expedient to just say "politician" as the "crooked part" should be assumed. -- Rob

Let's hope he can pull it off. I'm no tree hugger, but I'd love to see the tech for other forms of energy develop, and that won't happen until it's demanded by consumers, which won't happen until they have to use the current tech. -- Rob

Obama upset about the oil spill "blame game"... Seriously?
rhaig replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
perhaps, but you might also note that I didn't post that I agreed with it, and had you actually paid attention to the content of my posts between there and here you might see my position is not that the government has failed so far to clean it up, nor that they are they great savior and will save us in the coming days. You man continue to have an opinion on what my position is (the O in IMHO) but you are at this point, wrong. -- Rob -
So no source. I see your assertions are as reliable as always. and another thread completely devolved. NEXT! How dare I ask for a source when someone posts data. I call devolution when both sides make a zero argument back to back. as I quoted. next -- Rob

I thought implied attacks on personal integrity of posters were not allowed. OK, being like FOX News indicates a lack of personal integrity? I agree. exactly my point. also, anyone who gets their news from only one source only and considers themselves informed is sadly mistaken. Whether that source is fox, msnbc, abc, cnn, AP, BBC, or any other news organization. -- Rob

agreed. beck, rush, O'reilly... All of them are entertainers that happen to work for a news network. Fox's statement on their programs stated hours where they report news, those hours stopped when the entertainers took over. -- Rob

I never said they were doing so. I said (and you quoted me so I assumed you read it, which might be my bad) that "I don't think the govt is going to swoop in here and save the day." I did not say they were able and were choosing not to. (though you seem to be defending them awfully quickly) I did not say there is some vast conspiracy. I don't think they will be able to do much better at the helm than BP has done. You can read the quotes from the CinC. BP has all the heavy machinery, They are taking direction from the government now. Will I be happy if the government steps in and saves the day? sure. I'm not sour grapes on the Obama administration and their efforts. I just don't think it's that simple. damn.... people in this thread are awfully damn defensive. Seeing attacks on the actions of the government when there are none. -- Rob -

you're jumping to conclusions faster than Lucky has done in the past. I stated an opinion. I don't think the government is going to be able to swoop in and save the day. It's a pretty fucked up situation. I didn't see any whining and complaining in my post. I did see you having a kneejerk response to it. So you're basically calling me a whiner, for other's complaints. Is that it? -- Rob -

no, the government will prove your point for you. Not to say that the BP run cleanup effort wasn't a CF, but I don't think the govt is going to swoop in here and save the day. -- Rob -
Unless he gets in a pinch, then it's, "Gubbment, help me." and why not? he's paying taxes to that government right now isn't he? See, I love this. I worked for this old guy who was/is a tea bagger and he hates socialism and all it stands for. Of course I could shut him up by tellingg him the way it is: He's a socialist who hates socialism, unless it's for the people who deserve it (according to him). He's colleccting social security an getting Medicare, yet he hates the idea of any kind of socialized medicine, even the innocuous BS that takes eefect in 2914. He's 67 and won't have to bear the burden of any of whatever the sky-is-falling crowd tryies to convice us of anyway. Many, many socialists vote Republican and receive SS cause they deserve it. If you would be kind enough to tell me how to legally stop paying into the SS system and get out what I've paid in during the last 3 decades, I'll gladly opt out of any payments from them during my lifetime. -- Rob
