Those that live in Glass houses shouldn't play golf

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution I know you don't like that amendment, but it's there for a reason. You don't like it, start a campaign to get it repealed. I'd like to see your slogan. -- Rob -
You don't have that much. You're not that important to me. -- Rob

Catalunya 41 51 03 15 N 1 31 08 19 E That's not bad. Only a couple of hours drive from BCN which is where they might ship me off to. I'll let you know if it happens. -- Rob

That's your opinion, but as with guns, it is their business. You might disagree, but that is the law of the land. You misunderstand. It's between a woman, her doctor, and the father of the baby if the woman chooses to involve him. Nobody else need be involved. I wonder if there were people (in teh south) saying slavery isn't the gov's business? See, when you have states running amuck, w/o gov intervention there would be totalitarian BS as with Mexico and other countries where isolated factions, we call them states, could just make up tehir own rules. as with abortion, gay marriage is between the two people being married (as with all marriage). There need be nobody else (including state governments) involved. Clinton didn't please you? Why? I didn't vote in that election. I was drunk most of that year. Of course you won't disclose that, as it would easily prove my point; you're a classic conservative: - Blow up the military - Run up the debt - Shoot before negotiate - Kill social benefits - Etc, etc, etc BTW, telling who you didn;t vote for does nothing. aybe you went with the loons and voted Libertarian, maybe you abstained. The secrecy of the ballot refers to compulsory disclosure, I'm actually proud of who I voted for, you apparently are not of who you voted for. No, actually you confirmed them quite well. Just keep pretending to be bipartisan while being a typical conservative. you make me laugh. Thanks for the evening humor. I'd quote quade right here, if I didn't think lame poetry here and a disclaimer that I was using the royal you would be ignored (as it should have in his post). -- Rob

where is your restaurant? Slim chance I'll be in spain for work this summer. I love lamb. -- Rob

in my opinion, using that comparison is an attempt to shock to influence others that "guns are bad mmm-kay". I don't mind disagreeing with you. just wanted to clarify. -- Rob -
I'll tell you I didn't vote for McCain, I didn't vote for W the second time, I did the first time. Beyond that I'll choose not to share. (since it IS a secret ballot and all) I'm sorry, am I breaking your misconceptions? -- Rob

I'm happy to learn from others. Let's learn from England how to remove our right to defend ourselves in our own home. OOPS, that's one of their mistakes. Let's confiscate guns and misreport crime statistics. OOPS that's a mistake too. They have lots of things we can learn from over there. I like to learn how not to do things as well as how to do things. What's your proposed solution again? -- Rob -

quoting absolute numbers against populations of such disparate sizes like that is exactly why nobody can trust the use of statistics any more. You have no credibility by quoting numbers like that. All you're hoping to do is troll up a pro-gun response, stir up some shit, and jack your post count. If we had a killfile feature to ignore posts from users, this would have earned you a spot in mine. UK pop 60M gun deaths 42 US pop 300M (approx) gun deaths >10,000 Population ratio 1:5 Gun death ratio 1:240 The reason you dislike his numbers is that they very strongly support his point rather than yours. was I trying to make a point pro or con guns in that post? No... I was expressing my dislike of mis-use of statistics. In any case, it's not a matter of the tools in use, it's a sociological issue. -- Rob -
when was Sarah Palin ever relevant? Your party selected her and her senile boyfriend to lead the country and they got 59M votes. how many times do I have to tell you I don't belong to a party. You keep claiming to know things about me. But you don't. -- Rob

Dodge is a truck. billvon is a duck. Redirect is a way, For a lawyer to say, Go fuck yourself all day. (Sorry, I just couldn't help myself on that one. BTW, that's the royal "yourself" and not you specifically Divot.) Wow . . . So a mod can say go fuck yourself in a royal way and it isn't a PA - good to know. In his defense, after he told you to "Go fuck yourself all day", he did say it was the "royal yourself and not you specifically". So if your PA has a qualifier, it's OK. The rules do not apply to all. we should get bill to add that to his "what is a PA" notice. "It's not a PA if it's bad poetry and has a qualifier in it." -- Rob

I would hope most here would know the the UK has a much smaller population (65,000,000.) than the us (290,00,000). Why don't you run off and start a new truther post, your over due. when have I ever posted in favor of the truthers? you must have me confused with someone else. Either that or I was right and you're just trolling. -- Rob -

why yes, they are referred to as a POS. Point Of Sale system. I always thought that odd when I worked for a company that made POS's. And really we're talking about Occam's razor here. He's not arresting anyone, he's forming an opinion. Opinions come with assumptions. That's why they're called opinions and not facts. In TX, especially in one of it's sanctuary cities, when you come upon a spanish only speaking man or woman of less than 40years old, it's likely that they are not in this country legally. There are exceptions, sure. And I've learned to speak spanish (partly) so I can interact with them and be a nice guy. (still have a hard time reading it) I recognize the benefit we get from their presence. (as well as the detriment) call me what names you will, but Occam's razor usually applies. -- Rob

I'd add to John's advice... You might be surprised to find you enjoy shooting it. Add some practice after you stash it. (even if it's only once a year) You don't ever want to be uncomfortable with your gun. Remain familiar with it. -- Rob -
and that is impossible. understanding what the internet is makes it clear why that is impossible. (that is, it's impossible without government control of every piece of networking equipment inside the borders). you don't hope to kill a worm like that. You plan to protect your servers. Harden them from outside attacks, use multiple layers of protection between them and the outside with intrusion detection systems at every layer. Can you make it impossible to penetrate? To all known attack types, yes. (not all known attacks, but attack types) Clearly you understand there's more to the internet than a few websites. I don't think you understand network security. At least it's not made evident in that post that you do. -- Rob

Yet you voted for him. I know people who voted for Obama who didn't like him. Why? More because of who he wasn't than who he was. -- Rob

when I visited there last summer, the folks I talked to were telling me that the published 20% unemployment rates were about half the local perceived actual. That may be because the unemployed are in the cities, I don't know. But about a third of the people I talked with in bars were unemployed. -- Rob

the problem I have with a fence is that if we're building it to stem the flow of immigrants, we're solving the problem from the wrong end. All it will do is make them more creative. If we're building a fence to secure the border from hostiles (possibly terrorists) entering the country, they aren't going to come in where the fence would be up anyway. So a fence doesn't help any. -- Rob

Not sure whose point you're trying to make. The article talks about a few different cases where illegals weren't properly compensated, and how the state is making sure they're accessible for illegals who want to report their employers. I never said it wasn't happening, I simply don't believe it's a "vast majority". And that article still has no numbers for how many illegals are paid under minimums. In fact, keep scrolling your google search and you'll find this: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/IndustryInfo/story?id=3189288&page=1 what happened to intuitively obvious? -- Rob

I'm with you up to the minimum wage part. Where did you get that. Two things really; 1) It's highly Googleable, but depending on your point of view or how one might view a web site's bias, you may or may not believe what they have to say. I'll pick through those though the first few appear to be opinion pieces with nothing more than your "it's intuitively obvious" brand of "argument". It's also intuitively obvious that the workers with more skill will be retained and paid more money. You assume that just because they're here outside of legal process that they're unskilled? Or is it because they're brown? *** If your friend paid his people minimum wage or above, uh, "good for him" (even though he's part of the problem), but the vast majority of illegals work for substandard wages and in many cases the standard is minimum wage. well I'll just have to trust your opinion won't I. Or I could read that NY times piece that comes up in your google search. oh wait... it's an opinion piece too isn't it. (and I couldn't tell... was adding "uh" your attempt at wit, or are you trying to mimic the speech patterns of our president?) -- Rob

I'm with you up to the minimum wage part. Where did you get that. The industries I know of that use illegals where I also know someone in that business (cleaning, landscaping, construction) I'm told they all make above minimum wage. The largest savings is in the taxes, SS, and insurance. It's apparently common for a business owner to contract the work out to someone who is here legally. That person pays his illegal immigrant buddies cash under the table for their work. Insulating the business owner from the immigrants by a foreman. -- Rob
