  1. "Universal security called Orlando police" This was on universal theme park property. universal citywalk: http://www.universalorlando.com/OverviewPages/Nightlife/citywalk_nightlife_overview.aspx not an amusement park. but private property owned by a company that makes its money on people being comfortable there and spending their money. What I see in this is a man who was likely asked to leave, and refused, universal's security folks couldn't get a hold of him to escort him off property, when the officers tried to restrain him he reacted violently and they tased him. I wouldn't expect any media would report what is in italics above because then it wouldn't make good news. what would you rather they had done? Their options were to injure him with 100% certainty through increased physical restraint (likely at minimum a dislocated shoulder) or tase him to incapacitate him that has a much smaller chance of permanent physical damage. Or continue to let him roam the private property he was on after being asked to leave. what would you rather they have done? -- Rob
  2. right... at an amusement park. So they asked him to leave, and he wouldn't. At that point it becomes criminal trespass. They were trying to get a hold of him, he was being disorderly. he got tased bro. what would you rather they had done? -- Rob
  3. yeah, but making fun of Canada was sport for so long, it's still fun to do. And see how quickly you rose to the bait? -- Rob
  4. did you read the article? looks to me like they were trying to escort him off the property. what would you have rather they done? -- Rob
  5. Wallmart does pay $12.00/hr around here and the left still hates them. yeah, but those are canadian dollars. -- Rob
  6. but I do know of cases where judges have required that someone regularly attend AA meetings and their PO regularly questioned group leaders and their sponsor about their level of participation. Of course the group leaders and sponsor were very tight lipped regarding this information as they greatly resented the intrusion. But in any case, the judge DID ask of my friend if he had surrendered to a higher power. My friend committed perjury and said he had. Now he lives somewhere in Canada. -- Rob
  7. I see, I thought we were supposed to play the ball? You have stated support for this. he's a mod. backhanded PA's are allowed -- Rob
  8. Ignorance does not become you, counselor. careful.... that "I" word is specifically forbidden. People have been banned for that. -- Rob
  9. you're feeding the troll. it's fun to watch though. -- Rob
  10. anyone who uses the party under which a candidate is running as their primary means for choosing a candidate is an ignorant lazy voter. Uh how many non rePUBIClowns do you think watch FAUX NEWS??? I wasn't limiting my statement to a political party. I was referring to the masses of lazy ignorant voters who straight ticket vote based solely on party affiliation. you're the one referring to a political party by using silly names and spelling fox like you're a coon-ass -- Rob
  11. where it looks like you're going is "because it's a safety issue" but you're trying to get someone else to say it. (debating like that always annoyed me) we can all point to studies that say you drive worse with a BAC of 0.10%, we can also point to studies that say tail lights increase visibility of your vehicle even in the daylight. (ditto horns, but windshields shield primarily from the wind bill. thus the name. make a jump without your goggles, it's much harder to see, now drive that way) Can you point to a study that says BAC interlocks decrease the incidences of DUI? Can you point to cases where a BAC interlock has caused injury (indirectly) by preventing a sober driver from starting their car? (I can) Can we all agree that police cars and ambulances won't have them because they're emergency vehicles? (only the less equal vehicles will have to have them) Can we all agree that they are mechanical devices that are bypassed somewhat simply (even though it is illegal to do so)? so would interlocks installed in all cars prevent DUIs? I don't know. They keep the honest people honest. Would they save lives? Again... don't know. Would they cost innocent people money they shouldn't have to spend? yes. would they increase the amount of time required to start your car by at least 30 seconds? yes. explain to all the women here that the creepy guy in the dark parking lot now has extra time to bust their window and attack them while they give the BAC interlock a BJ. -- Rob
  12. Because otherwise the terrorists win... you should know that.... and don't forget "Think of the children!!" -- Rob

  14. pre-9-11 I carried a knife with me on every flight I took. I took it out of my pocket at the metal detector, put it in the bowl and put it through the x-ray machine or handed the bowl to the security folks to inspect (seemed to depend on the airport). There was (until 9-11) an FAA regulation that defined a certain class of knives (less than 4" blade I think) as a pocket knife and not a weapon. since 9-11 I've accidentally carried a knife onto a plane twice (in my carry-on). Neither time was I confronted by the security folks. (they didn't know it either). police are a reactionary force. Arrest is a reaction to a condition. Laws don't keep those conditions from occurring in all cases. Punishing law abiding citizens by making them install interlock devices is wrong. -- Rob

    Texas Tunnel

considering the cuts in phase I that were announced, that doesn't entirely surprise me. I even alluded to the possibility above. If I see other articles or get notifications (living in a neighborhood down the road from the site, we get periodic updates) I'll pass along what I hear. -- Rob

All I'm saying is that schlitterbahn, who originally announced plans for a tunnel in phase I of their proposed new park in CP, has announced the end to their funding woes and intends to move forward with the project. Why do you say no tunnel? Just a negative vibe? Or other information you're not sharing? -- Rob

correction: http://www.hillcountrynews.com/news/article_16d4a01c-5a53-11e0-9062-001cc4c002e0.html though there are rumors of scaling back phase 1 (which was slated to have included the tunnel) so they could make the opening deadline of may 2012 to not forfeit the tax breaks from the city. -- Rob

stop waiting. There is a new "For Sale" sign up on the property. Not a good sign no matter how you slice it. -- Rob
  19. so you're going to paint all Libertarians with the anarchy brush.... nice broad generalization. Most of the people I know that call themselves libertarians are socially liberal, and fiscally conservative. You're hanging out with extremists apparently. We could say you were an extremist also. (you're hanging out with them... you must be just like them... generalizations don't work) -- Rob
  20. Libertarianism does not equal anarchy. That's why there are two terms for it. To assume they are equal is either done out of ignorance or malice. As for Liebertarianism, I was never a fan of Liberman.
  21. let's start a campaign. who will chip in a few bucks to some developers to add a feature to manage a killfile feature?? It would give you the ability to ignore posts by and replies to posts by a list of users. -- Rob
  22. "US Uncut Movement" - unfortunate name choice. sounds like a group against circumcision in the US. -- Rob
  23. That's just your opinion. Do you have any facts to back it up? Fact: 2+ 2= 4 Opinion: 2 + 2 may equal 5 for very large values of 2 -- Rob
