  1. though it's painfully obvious where you lie (from your obvious generalization), arguing with anyone who considers themselves part of either democrat or republican parties is a waste of time. most people, once they've identified themselves entirely with a party have rendered themselves unable to hold a logical discussion over politics. -- Rob
  2. The obvious answer? Because they can think for themselves. which explains http://airamerica.com/. Liberal talk radio for lefties who can't think for themselves, by lefties who can't think. (not a slight on all lefties, just these) -- Rob
  3. I think if he's going to prison, he's more interested in tossed salad. -- Rob
  4. with respect to citizenship. with respect to all the constitutional requirements for eligibility. so maybe "eligible" would be a better word than "qualified" which in my mind implies a whole host of other things that are outside the scope of this thread. -- Rob
  5. did someone say gang bang?? oh wait... -- Rob
  6. as the anti-gunners here contend that violent crime wouldn't go up in the presence of a gun ban, and certainly gun crime would go down. The pro-gunners are carefully (sometimes too carefully aka cherry-picking) watching crime stats in the area and pointing to just these such events as indicators to what might happen in the presence of a gun ban here. -- Rob
  7. here in austin last year, they did just that. trained a handful of officers to draw blood on the side of the road and had a judge on standby to write warrants for checkpoint stops as well as suspected dwi traffic stops. At least they had some training. The PD Chief recently moved here from CA. -- Rob
  8. so you admit to drawing a conclusion based on incomplete information. -- Rob
  9. did you read all the fine print? it also says that refusal will not land you strapped down in a bed with a needle jabbed in your arm. It says it'll land you in an administrative hearing with a state judge to determine if your license will be suspended. -- Rob
  10. not another one... "wah.. what are you afraid of... wah... what are you hiding... wah!!! read the 4th and 5th amendments. please try to understand their meaning. -- Rob
  11. http://discovermagazine.com/2006/apr/anything-oil -- Rob
  12. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fascism certainly the first definition. the second? well... not yet. -- Rob
  13. You might wanna check a map for exactly how few drop zones could actually do that. You're implying that number is small. let me see what I can find within a 2hr drive from my house. Looks like 3, but it's been a few years since I've read these maps. Considering I started by saying I had limited knowledge and admitted I might be wrong, you'd think that rather than a smarmy useless reply, a moderator that represents the administration of this website, might be helpful. -- Rob
  14. ok... so I only have a few hours of flight instruction and ground school, so I'll claim ignorance if I'm wrong. If flying out of an uncontrolled airport, into uncontrolled airspace (class G), you're not required to even contact, much less actually use ATC services. So under those conditions, how would the $25/flight be tracked, much less enforced? -- Rob
  15. someone pass me some popcorn... I like this show. -- Rob
  16. I liked "I think it has more to do with who's driving." because you know if you pull over a car driven by a black man it must be racial profiling.... -- Rob
  17. And there are laws against shooting people. So to prevent swearing, would you be OK with making people wear gags? If it would save just one child from hearing a swear word, wouldn't any amount of gagging be worth it? think of the children!! -- Rob
  18. fixed that for you. That I agree with. I'd rather have the gun than my belt, but they'll let me carry my belt on the plane, but not my gun. -- Rob
  19. I hope you're right and my concerns are unrealized. That's 100% true. I hate that teachers spend so much time teaching for the tests. It makes them invalid metrics really. Yet they're still used. -- Rob
  20. I'm afraid that more damage will be done during the "recovery". -- Rob
  21. with you 100%. unarmed combat skills are very important. Up until now we were discussing improvised weapons, but thread drift happens (hell, this is like the 3rd or 4th drift in this thread alone) The topic I was discussing was self defense versus an assailant with a blade. But what if they are armed with a banana, or a bunch of grapes? what if they've got a pointed stick?? -- Rob
  22. and don't forget: A handgun is what you carry when you're not expecting trouble. -- Rob
  23. I hope the hypothetical assailant jumps to that same incorrect conclusion.
