so $10K total (ignoring the solar system that doesn't have the price listed, nor seems to be used) for me is about 4 years worth of electricity bills. That's a reasonable payback time. It's been a few years since I looked into lifetime of solar panels, but back then it was 7-10 years, so a 4-year ROI is reasonable if you have the upfront cash to do it. Now, lifetime is probably more like 10-15yr (totally guessing) and without tax credits and buyback, that's about an 8yr ROI. again.... considering the longer lifetime, reasonable if I had the cash upfront. -- Rob

difference being my handgun killing an active shooter may save more lives than my own. The rig on your back jumping out of an airliner (nice fiction bill) will save your ass, not anyone elses. Not everyone needs a concealed handgun. Just a few armed and trained individualsare enough. A few (or even one) carrying CHL holder can ruin a shooter's day and save a bunch of sheeple. -- Rob

miranda applies to the US civilian court system. If they are arrested and processed in the civilian court system, then miranda applies. If they are processed through military court system, or not the US court system, then miranda doesn't apply. edit to add: miranda doesn't just apply to US citizens. -- Rob

depends on the unit. Cubs can shoot BB or pellet (I think) but that's it. Scouts (11-17) can shoot .22rifle or shotgun. Venturers (coed 14-21) can shoot anything. All shooting activities have to be supervised by an NRA certified instructor. none of these activities are required for any ranks in any scouting program, so you can't say that anyone exiting a scouting program would have any sort of firearms training under their belt. But I don't personally know of any scout camps without a .22 range on them. It's a favorite spare time activity. (mostly I think because they don't get to do it at home) I do believe that training would remove the mystery surrounding firearms. It might not remove the desire to want to shoot them, but I believe would make kids less curious about their operation. -- Rob

I told the guy to call his manager, but he got all excited and called the cops. So I took a seat and waited. I was in no hurry. No sign out front about being searched, it was a used CD store, not a theater (don't hink I was clear) not that it matters. They were probably used to lots of theft. -- Rob

years ago when I carried my handgun in a fanny pack, I was asked to allow a search of it before I left. I refused, they called the cops. The cop showed up, asked why I didn't want to let them search my bag, I explained I didn't want to cause a panic, and I thought a calm call to the police would be better than a panic'd man with a gun call. He agreed (after checking my CHL) and told me to go. Nobody looked inside my bag. -- Rob

buddy of mine got booted from a jury in a drug case once. they found "trace amounts" of coke in a guys car. My buddy asked the judge if he had a $20 in his wallet that wasn't new. (this was 1992) He suggested to the judge that any 20 dollar bill in circulation in the late 80's probably had "trace amounts" of coke on it. so yes... money is very dirty. -- Rob

Yes in fact I have. My first CHL instructor carried with an empty chamber as an undercover cop. He trained to chamber a round as part of his draw. We timed him from draw buzzer to first shot and it added 0.2sec to his time. His point when he explained to us how he used to carry was it's more dependent on your training. -- Rob
