  1. For solo jumps transitions are bread and butter. You will learn to feel the air more and fly better just from doing them. Everyone figures out fall rate and foward movement when they start doing two ways and bigger. After 5 jumps where your buddy is 20-30 feet away you both start to make the effort to get closer, and thus learning happens. bloo skies ramon
  2. Sounds like your doing good Zennie. The pull up cord thing sounds like a good idea too.
  3. I lost my free bag in Chicago . And lost the pop top on my best friends rig this weekend....duh Today I found the phone number of Bomber Manufacturing who is continuing spare parts support. They have not advertised yet because they were waiting for some FAA approval (which they just got). If you need parts call 1-888-772-2846 Ryan Gifford is the General manager. bloo skies ramon
  4. This weeknd amidst the best swoops of my life, this is what I heard. "Nice swoop, where did you get that ugly canopy?" "dude that is an ugly canopy" "Did you buy that?" "send it back" "you got ripped off" "I missed your landing, does that canopy look better inflated?" oh well it flies well ramon
  5. Precious is mine....oh my precious...... ha ha sorry dude I wants my precious ramon
  6. End of Sept, begining of Oct is good. after that I will be out of the country for an indeterminate amount of time. bloo skies ramon
  7. Are you cutie Paula with the long hair and the Racer? Wane's container is ugly...I've been jumping the neon pink and green samurai lately and I'm starting to like the colors..hahaha. bloo skies ramon
  8. I have a full time job and I skydive on the weekends. I am a fun jumper, but am good enough to coach beginners (sometimes I'll do it for free, when I'm trying to fun jump with my friends and someone wants me to coach them and they want video , I ask for my slot and a pack job for my time.) I think you post something in every thread multiple times...Do you have a job? ramon
  9. Your boyfriend is obviously a very lucky individual. If you break up come down to Spaceland. Maybe we can hook up your ex- and my ex bloo skies ramon
  10. You get first place, for simply owning an ugly canopy and telling me what it looks like (what the original post requested) Your Sabre sounds pretty ugly so it will count...I hate Rainbow patterns First prize to Kris is one of the follwing; 1. Free fun jump with me at Spaceland...or 2. Free freefly coach jump with me at Spaceland (with video)..or 3. Free jump ticket at Spaceland (and I'll hook you up w/ the RW folks). bloo skies Ramon P.S. Ugliest parachute I ever saw was a brown yellow and red BatWing
  11. I am now the proud owner of a Vengeance 135 light blue, red, red, red, red, red, red, red, lightblue, light blue airlocks it is uglier than it sounds My friend trey just got a 120 purp/blu/pink/orng/yell/orng/pink/blue/purp with lime green airlocks We are tied for ugliest Who else has an ugly(er) canopy. ramon disclaimer: in the closet I have a neon green FX109 with purple cross bracing, it is beautiful...but too fast ha ha.
  12. Blank page...? I can only guess you might be updating.
  13. Hey, Go to any DZ that has a swimming pool and you can probably do it on the spot. If there are none in your area (poor thing) I guess you need to organize somehting good luck ramon.
  14. My friend Conway was jumping an 85 or 95 I beleive. He is not super aggressive, but he liked the way it flies (that doesn't say much, but..) He said it slammed him 4 times out of 5 where as a regular cobalt did not....he called the rep and the rep said it was designed for terminal openings not just a hop n pop competition item.... I gave him some packing tips (small rubber bands 3-4" line bites, 18" after last stow), but it still smacked him??? Something to think about. ramon
  15. Similar to an Alpha/Space 105 but it may open a little harder. I expect to compare to a stilleto the riser pressure will be lighter and the brakes slightly deeper (not really deep just less twitchy than stilleto) history 1. vipers were made 2. small improvement and renamed (Impulse) sold here as Space and Alphas. 3. Sky Depot went under (distributor for Atair parachutes), then Dan Preston did a really good job marketing the new Cobalt (slightly improved Alpha...so they say ). and that is that. ramon
  16. Sorry about the reply, I thought you were a vendor trying to advertise and that makes me mad. most people here are nice to newbies. use ground-rush.com for lots of links though ramon
  17. What the hell is a skydiving company? Oh I get it a company that makes skydivers....You mean a dropzone.... Oh. try USPA.org. for companies that sell or deal in skydiving paraphenalia try ground-rush.com. If you are really an ignorant wuffo you probably did not look at all the companies represented on this website, if not, you did look and you must want European companies. I can find them just fine, but I see you live in the states, supposedly, in Florida . Maybe you can find a skydiving comapny in Florida BWAHAHAHAHAH ramon
  18. Reason I'm wondering is because of Alleged riser cover openings on Javelin Odysseys (oops did I say a brand name) with their plastic riser housings. at freefly speeds I want the rig to stay shut. Thanks, I'll get them and maybe replace with teflon if I don't like. ramon
  19. Anybody have any experience with the hard riser housings for the vector III. Seems they are made of metal and the rep says they are as big as the cutaway cable housing in the container. Sounds bulky as hell. I know of one extreme canopy pilot that claims it saved his life the other day when he had line twists all the way back to his three rings. Any one know if the riser covers will stay shut with this? I want to buy one. thanks ramon
  20. Ted watch and ask some of the fellas at our DZ. We have some of the best canopy pilots in the South I've done them several times just trying to swoop the nurf noodles (never perfectly on the wind line). Watch Eric, Josh, Chris....and especially Super Dave if he shows up, he really has good down wind technique (the secret being to slide your feet on the ground during the surf to steady your self and get ready to stop or run) Zennie, the easiest way to get a taste is to do a cross winder that is almost downwind. turn on to final much further out than you normally do as you will glide a lot longer. Don't do a PLF and get your gear messed up if you think you can run it out, you probably can. If it is an emergency down winder in sort of high winds, and you have a lot of room to land, I would butt slide, but that takes practice. PLF if you feel the need just remember that is from the days of round parachutes not square wings skimming along the ground at 20 (5 mph stall speed 15 mph down wind as example) Actually I would hope your cross winder will be 5-8 mph (3-4 mph stall speed 2-5 mph wind) Good luck ramon PS. I realize the point of this is not to be afraid to land down wind, not to get practice swooping downwind all the time, but when you see how weel some of the hot shots do it on fast canopies, you know that in a little higher wind with a slower canopy, you can downwind it and not have a scratch.
  21. I always do one from high (either right out the plane 13k or suck it down to 10k) Some parachutes (Extreme fX) are not supposed to be deployed above 5k, but that is the only one I have heard of (and I have done that twice and was fine). Up high you can try everything, flat turns, front/rear riser turns. stall popints flare points etc. You could also do a hopp n pop from say...5k instead of 3.5 if you beg your pilot, ha haha. bloo skies ramon
  22. Safire's suck. IMHO sorry rigger rob. You are much better off on a sabre. ramon
