  1. Hi shade, I have posted about this waiver a number of times. I, also, have never seen it. At the 2005 PIA Symposium, I was sitting in the coffee shop talking to one of the major players from PD. He is the one who told me that they had to get a waiver to get their Optimum canopies certificated. That's my story & I'm sticking to it. Jerry Baumchen PS) All of your other recent posts are spot on.
  2. Hi John, David Stockman, Reagan's economic advisor, got sent to the outhouse for even suggesting that Reagan's Trickle Down Economy would not work. Jerry Baumchen PS) I think it is moran.
  3. Hi Joe, There are things in one's life that just warms your heart. Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi hexentrics, I would still write them a Letter of Demand. Another, idea would be to 'sell' the rig to someone you know & trust in the US for about $1.00. This person, then could write the Letter of Demand. Don't give up, this is your legal property. Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi falls, IMO what we did 'back in the day' is not what one should do today. Back when Security Parachute Co's Security AeroConical ( SAC ) canopy suffered from the 'Acid Mesh Problem,' Security had gone out of business and could not provide any info on what to do. Therefore, the FAA issued an AD directing riggers as to what to do should they come across any of these canopies. The AD said, among other things, to mark out the TSO markings & write on it something to the effect of 'Non-airworthy.' In today's litigious world, I would not mark up/cut up another person's property unless the FAA gave me specific instructions to do so. At the end of the day, this rig is someone's legal property. It is not the property of the mfr. Jerry Baumchen
  6. Hi hexentrics, Disclaimer: I am not an attorney. Something similar happened to a local jumper with a different item & a different company. I told him to write to them demanding that they return the equipment that was his legal property. He did contact them with this argument via email & his equipment was returned to him. I suggest that you write them as professional of a letter as you can [ get some help with writing it if you feel you need help ]. Send it as a Registered Letter via the US Postal Service with a signature req'd upon delivery. If that does not work, consider an attorney. Just my $0.02, Jerry Baumchen
  7. Hi Phil, Lippy is not; and, neither am I. Once again, Brent has not seen the football since kickoff. Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi Robert, And, it would seem some other attorneys are learning from her mistakes: Trump withdraws Florida lawsuit against New York attorney general - POLITICO But, but, the winning. NOT!!!!! Jerry Baumchen
  9. Hi lippy, You have an insight few others have. Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi Ken, From personal experience, it is more misery than joy. Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi folks, Looks like the 2nd amendment can get a little costly: Oregon Firearms Federation owes thousands in legal fees for challenge of Measure 114, lawyer says in suit - oregonlive.com No tears for them from me. Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi airdvr, Then how do you fit that into the fact that Kevin McCarthy absolutely wanted the FBI to stay out of the investigation of 'papers at home' when it was Trump that was in the headlines? Now, McCarthy cannot get the feds into looking into Biden's 'paper stash' soon enough. There is no equivalency here. Any 'investigation' will be a shit-show. Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi Canada, I am well aware that you are the USA's largest trading partner. And, I think that is a good thing. Back when I was still working, I made many trips to your country for projects that I worked on. I never had an occasion to work with a Canadian company that I did not like; from Vancouver to Montreal and a number of places in between. However, I sure hope that you do not export this: Canada's drastic new alcohol guidance What's behind Canada's drastic new alcohol guidance - BBC News And, along those same lines: Hotseat: Ruby Warrington (wweek.com) Disclaimer: I have never had a DUI; although, I did come really close one time. Lesson learned. Thoughts?????????????? Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi Rich, I first met Jay in 1973. He had just moved into this area & he was looking to buy a ParaCommander. Someone told him he could get a good price on it from me. He called me up & I looked at what patterns were available & we made a deal. To make a little more $$$ on the sale, I decided to make the sleeve myself. I made it & it worked just fine. To this day, it is the only sleeve that I ever built. Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Bill, Yet, you just posted [ #2065 ]: It's fruitless to pass laws that can't be upheld. I would appreciate if you could provide us with just one law that cannot be broken. I think your heart is in the right place; I just cannot keep up with your scattershot posts. Jerry Baumchen
  16. Hi Bill, Re: Gov Pritzker says, "yes you will." I don't the situation in Illinois. Here in Oregon, all LEO's have to be certified by the state. While a sheriff is elected, I 'think' that to retain their job, they must have their state issued certification. That leads me to think that, here in Oregon, should the governor void their certification(s), they would be out of a job. There is always more than one way to skin a cat. Our newly elected governor is a very strong personality. I do not think that she would any BS from any sheriff in this state. Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi folks, If you are going to go, go big: charged with 52 counts of voter fraud Iowa official's wife charged with 52 counts of voter fraud : NPR Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi Joe, That begs the question: Who on here would expect something different? Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi Ken, That one is so Dark Ages that, while I considered it, I did not send it on to my daughter. She would have responded with what she really thinks about this kind of BS. Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi folks, Now, this sounds like a winning strategy: Bannon . . . has been delayed by his refusal to speak to his . . . attorneys Bannon has reached out to at least seven law firms . . . to find new representation Bannon refuses to talk to his own lawyers in charity fraud case - POLITICO Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi folks, He should be glad that the restaurant did not shoot back: Washington man shoots at Taco Bell, angry because it was closed - oregonlive.com We keep talking about how the mentally ill should have access to guns. I would argue that this man would not be determined to be mentally incompetent. I have talked to my son about what Oregon considers mentally incompetent and could be put into an institution. He says that if he can tell you his name, his address, etc, etc, then he would be considered sane. So, just what is the solution? Obviously, the loony-tune above should not have access to guns. Jerry Baumchen
  22. Hi Bokdrol, A good friend, Jay Gile, who is 75 just called it quits. He was very active right up until then. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi folks, Now, that it is settled, it looks like the GOP does not want the truth to come out: The subcommittee . . . is expected to be helmed by Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a combative ally of Trump. GOP’s ‘weaponization’ panel would have power to review those probing Trump | The Hill If there ever was an un-biased member of Congress, Jim Jordan is a perfect choice. NOT!!!!!! Jerry Baumchen PS) And, this for a follow-up: Trump calls for primary challengers to McConnell, GOP senators who vote with him | The Hill It would seem as though the Forgotten One does not want to be forgotten.
  24. Hi Robert, As the old saying goes: Like minds think alike. Jerry Baumchen
