Hi Joe, The combatants in WW I were little more than cannon fodder.* The generals would just ask for 50,000 more, or more, whenever they wanted. In WW II, the US was determined not to wage the same type of warfare. Our mfg capabilities allowed us to carpet bomb our targets. I once read that only about 5% of the bombs dropped in WW II, actually hit their targets. Jerry Baumchen * It seems as though Putin is following Stalin's methods: new mobilization wave for up to 500,000 men to fight in Ukraine Moscow to mobilize 500,000 new conscripts, Kyiv military intelligence says – POLITICO

Hi Ken, IMO if a post gets us into a good discussion, then we are all better for it. I learn a lot from posts on this website; even some that I disagree with. Jerry Baumchen PS) I tried walking on water once => Blub, blub -
Sexual orientation being "shoved down our throats"

Hi Ken, That old saying is probably older than I am. It is not true. I had some great instructors that could have made more money if they had left the teaching profession. I also had a few [ damn few ], who IMO could not. The greatest instructor that I ever had left the profession for a number of years to go into land development. Once, he made his 'fortune,' he returned to the classroom. Jerry Baumchen -

Hi Wendy, And, sometimes it is not: The Nazi's first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me. Rev. Andrew Tate, Republican and trump Supporter

Hi Ken, That is one way. I argue that the best way is to eliminate all political parties. For every office at every level, a person would run on what they stand for & who they are. I would settle for ranked choice voting since my argument is merely 'pie in the sky.' Jerry Baumchen -

Hi Bill, Just like in 1972 when CREEP decided that Sen. Geo. McGovern was the weakest D candidate when compared to Nixon. Nothing new here, folks; move along. Jerry Baumchen -

Hi Wendy, There are a lot of restrooms on this Earth of ours that are just that way.* IMO it is only this country that has these hangups. Jerry Baumchen * I've been in quite a few. Not one iota of a problem. It is sort of like eating with your fork in your left hand. Not wrong, just different. -
Hi Keith, Since you do not have to be a member of the House to be Speaker, go for it. You will be better than any names that I have seen being suggested. 'BIGUN, HE'S THE ONE' I like the ring of that. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Robert, This is an area I do not know much about. I seem to remember, that once elected, he/her must be seated. And, no recall election until after 6 months in office. As I recall, many years ago, Adam Clayton Powell was given the 'silent treatment' for his transgressions. I think that is about all the Congress can do. Thoughts??????? Jerry Baumchen
