Hi folks, Trump is beginning to be the albatross around their necks: at the House GOP conference in Orlando, where dozens of congressional Republicans . . . hoped to focus on the party’s legislative priorities and achievements three months into the House majority. Instead, they faced repeated questions about the implications of Trump’s latest legal woes. Hi Wendy, Re: (“if it bleeds it leads”) That was for when we all had newspapers delivered to our front doors. Today, on the local tv news, it is: BREAKING NEWS About 9 out of 10 local tv broadcasts in my area begin with it. About a week or so ago, my local 5 PM tv newscast had a BREAKING NEWS story that had appeared on another channel two days before. But, it was BREAKING NEWS now. It's all about making the sale(s). Hi Joe, This is a great book: A Civil Action is a 1995 non-fiction book by Jonathan Harr about a water contamination case in Woburn, Massachusetts, in the 1980s. A Civil Action - Wikipedia If you have not read it, I do recommend it. It also was made into a very good movie. Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, The Oregon legislature is considering a bill to provide $1,000/month/person for a 2-yr period as a Basic Income to people in need. Bill sparks debate on a guaranteed income program for Oregon - OPB My concern is that it could lead to more drug overdoses [ they now would have more money to buy drugs ] and it could lead to a lot more people coming to Oregon to get on the money bandwagon. I am interested in what people think about this; and, especially, those of you outside of the USA. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, Both parties would disagree with your premise bolded above. It is a subjective statement. As I have posted many times on here, the first time I voted for POTUS was in '64 & the choices were LBJ or Goldwater. Then & now, the choices are almost always the lesser of two evils. * I do not see that changing. Jerry Baumchen * I did not want Joe Biden to get the nomination in 2020.
