  1. Hi Bill, Re: I don't have any special or inside knowledgeable about insurance I do not either. However, a few years before I sold my last motorcycle, my rates for it nearly doubled. I had not one claim in the 4 previous years of riding; I've never made any claim about any motorcycle I've owned. I called the agent as was informed that my bill had jumped because of the Zip Code that I lived in. Apparently, this Zip Code had a few 'too many' claims; so all of our rates went up. C'est la vie, Jerry Baumchen
  2. Hi Keith, Re: I don't trust polls where I can't read the questions to determine bias. As an engineer & a guy who loved his Statistics class, I am 100% with this. Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi Keith, We can only hope. And, my hope is that you are right. Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi Joe, So, are you going to your grave in the most expensive coffin T can buy? Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi Mods, This is getting a little tiresome. Maybe a time-out might be appropriate? Jerry Baumchen PS) And, yes, a no comment post should be removed.
  6. Hi Robert, Terrible, absolutely terrible. Think they'll let him wear his horns in the pokey? Jerry Baumchen
  7. Hi Bill, Where I live most of the major grocery stores offer just about that. You go on-line & order what you want,* later they text you that your order is available, you go to the grocery story, drive in & they load the groceries into your car.** Both of my kids ( with growing families ) often do this. Jerry Baumchen * Of course, this takes away the fun of fondling the tomatoes to see just which ones you want. ** My understanding is that this has about a $5.00 surcharge for the convience.
  8. Hi Bill, And, I have probably seen just as many simply going thru the light after it turns red because of 'get there-itis.' Be careful out there. Jerry Baumchen
  9. Hi folks, A glimmer of hope: Biden signs . . . deal with bipartisan crowd Biden signs $1T infrastructure deal with bipartisan crowd: ‘America is moving again’ - oregonlive.com I suppose Trump will now condemn every R that showed up. For me, it's nice to see some of the GOP willing to be there. Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi Rob, Re: Only Strong Enterprises and Free-Flight stuck with MIL-SPEC fabric and mesh. From what I learned back then, all of the mesh met the Mil-Spec req'ments. The problem was that the Mil-Spec did not consider/address that the materials might be treated with this 'non-flammable' coating. Not all of the mesh used had this coating. Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi Joe, That was Henry Ford's thinking also. Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Stumpy, Re: their collective IQ is only in double figures, and I prefer to believe that most people are smarter than that. Well, half are. Jerry Baumchedn
  13. Hi Big, I agree with your comments on ranking; except that I think we all know * that Trump has already gone down as the worst POTUS ever. Jerry Baumchen * Well, most of us.
  14. Hi Will, And, IMO what is worse is that they do not want to learn 'to use basic maths or analyse data.' They seem to revel in their ignorance. Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Robert, Back in the 60's, before I got married, I always voted for school bond measures. * For that very reason. Public schools are not perfect. But, the alternative is worse. Jerry Baumchen * I still do.
  16. Hi Rich, I'm OK with that. However, it does seem as though few people agree with you. Something to consider there. Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi Ken, And, let's hope he keeps right on going. I see where Mark Meadows failed to show up today. I think this indictment of Bannon may just getting him to re-think his actions. Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi Phil, Re: Imagine for a minute you'd had a lobotomy and became a republican. Hey, knock it off; I have enough bad dreams as it is. Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi Kleggo, Pretty good, if I do say so myself. Re: Some round canopy's drive slot mesh was not properly cleaned / treated during manufacturing which led to a low ph condition on the surface of the mesh = acid mesh. It wasn't that it was not properly cleaned. It was that the mesh mfrs added a non-flammable 'coating' to the mesh. The mesh still met the Mil Spec req'ments. But, this 'coating' is what caused the interaction with the nylon fabric in the canopies; resulting in strength failure. They added the 'coating' so the non-flammable mesh could be used in things like tents, etc. The parachute mfr's did not know about the coating, so they used the mesh without concern. Anyway, that's my story & I'm sticking with it. Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi heels, Well, that did not work so well at the Nuremberg trials. Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi Joe, You could have voted for Trump. Jerry Baumchen
  22. Hi Mark, Yup, it would probably be just Security's 26 ft LoPo canopy. That was not a subject of the AD. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Wendy, In '67 it was probably an accuracy competition without a 'name.' While I did compete over in Boise a number of times, I never went into Montana. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi folks, Some update info on the 6 Jan rioters: N.J. man charged in Capitol riot sentenced to harshest prison term yet for Jan. 6 insurrection - oregonlive.com US Capitol rioter who fled to Belarus says he may seek asylum there - CNNPolitics I think, so far, that the gov't is getting them all to plead. It takes a goodly amount of money to present a decent defense; and, little chance of winning. And, if Evan Neumann thinks living in Belarus is better than here; well, good luck with that. Jerry Baumchen
  25. Hi Ken, And, that is why de Tocqueville found it so interesting: Alexis de Tocqueville - Wikipedia Jerry Baumchen
