Billions spent on charging stations = zero

Sure you have. It became famous as the Pantera restaurant chain. -

Another own goal. As the only simpleton here who offers support that you are not a total troll but are a true believer and consistent, if naught else, I'm jerked that you couldn't just admit to an easy swing and a miss. -
Are you teaching your kids to post here?

And at the same time give them social agency and access to credit or grants. Otherwise they're still under the boot.

Why the push to transition to EVs will fail
JoeWeber replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
There are no practical reasons to go in any new direction, only results that prove out the idea. Sort of, you're like a semi blind cave dwelling newt whose buddy tells him: Brent these dents in my head seem to be telling me something about the world around us but I'm not not sure what. And Brent says: why worry about it when we already have all the bugs we'll ever need. -
Don’t be a snot. Yachters are people, too.

I reckon he’ll be running for president now.

President of UN Climate Summit speaks the truth!

It's poor form for a mod to encourage ad hominem attacks. -

You are right to make the point and the point you make is right. On my sailboat I use relatively little diesel and gas, relying on wind and solar for power but I'm not sure that gets me an extra cookie considering how I got here. My careers in aviation were based on burning tanker loads of fuel. Even my real estate activities were fuel consumptive especially when I sold to aviation users or leased to farmers. Of course, I've never owned an EV. So in that sense you are correct to point out a level of hypocrisy in the opposition. -
How very Ken of you. Joe won't win because he is defending a belief system, not feral cats. House cats are an invasive species that have been cuteified and anthropomorphized in a way that is unavailable to jumping carp, for example. They have no "but I love it" constituency like kitties.
-
Because you love feral cats, and I and others, have vast reasons to consider your activities to rehabilitate them counterproductive? And because I disagree with that provably wrong position you won't engage me on any other topic? That's quite intellectual of you, Joe.
-
I'm the fool? Sure they don't get allowed outside. Who would do such a thing to their kitty buddy when it's just sitting there looking out the window, longingly. Thanks for the validation.
-
So people from nowhere hit a donate button and the cat rescue gets the money? Okay. You didn't join the Cat thread but now here you are: give us who cannot justify the idea of feral cats roaming and killing birds, or just roaming and crapping in our flower beds, the rationale for saving them and then setting them loose again.

In the dreamworld, maybe. First there is the pesky problem of finding some someone. A quick look at the current organizational chart reveals that we only have one someone with the demonstrated ability to beat Trump. Then, of course, you'd need a consensus to take a break from self aggrandizement between Ralph Nader, Robert Kennedy, Jill Stein, Marianne Williamson and, for all we yet know, Rooster Cogburn, too. If averting really was that easy everyone would be doing it.

The problem is that it's not only the US it's virtually everywhere on the planet. Apparently it is innate in our species this desire to be a serf, seemingly to whomever makes the offer. Even our fervently democratic president is a serf to the christian god and desires a thumb print of ash on his forehead once a year to prove his fidelity to the true King. There is simply no reason, save disregarding the evidence before our eyes, to believe our species is destined to live in equality.

There are other types of American primacy and aspects of them to like or dislike. I have been out there, and here, saying we should be afraid of the autocratic trend for a while. So I'm pleased that WaPo is coming on board. Often I'm told to relax. Fair enough. But to be honest some of my neighbors commentary isn't much different from my neighbors barking dog.
-
And not be uppity about it, too.
-
I've heard that too often. Not only does it not take all kinds but there are several kinds we can well do without.

If you don't vote for Biden and Trump wins then you own a part of his victory.
-
Salt of the earth you are, some of us pay for the roads and police that make private schools accessible and safe and do so when we don't have any kids. So whoopty f'n do. By the way where do you think that voucher money would come from? Donations from Libertarian sponsors?
-
Species bias? Trap and release has never worked. For example, every weekday morning collection vans drive the neighborhoods collecting kids who are then released into a colony of kids where they do little harm. Has that worked? Nope, there are more of them all the time.

The American Bird Conservancy believes that TNR not only doesn't work but in fact can make the problem worse:

So really, it's just another immigrant getting their just desserts.
