  1. If you're planning a trip from Eloy to Winnipeg in January you don't need an ICE vehicle, you need therapy.
  2. Worse, it makes the rest of us look bad.
  3. Oh, I don't know. With any significant purchase I factor in what I can get on a cold rainy day at an auction and depreciation is a large component of that reality. You're certainly right that he'll not quit his search for a fatal defect in the idea of progress until he hits a winner. Maybe EV drivers are getting laid less often or lower property values in the neighborhoods they buy houses, maybe their Moms love them less or something. Got me, but if there is a scintilla of evidence we'll be first to read it here.
  4. Me too. Now I need one like I need a sharp stick in the ear but that was the same standard that caused me to buy the pick-up truck that I hate to take downtown and try parking but that I can use to haul or tow everything that I never haul or tow. By golly, I think I'll take advantage of that government program that allows me to write off 45% of the cost in year 1.
  5. Some things seem to occur at speeds too fast or too slow for some folks, I reckon.
  6. No there is not, or do you often just stop and hang it over the bowl because FUN?
  7. So complex hydrocarbons might have other absolute and potential uses besides once through the tailpipe? Who could have guessed?
  8. Not much imagination there mostly owing, it would seem, to a what do I get from it now mentality. Fine, I guess. Space exploration has been a winner, seems to me. As I've written here I think sending humans into space at this juncture has a crappy cost benefit ratio. However a Trillion dollar program to send serious probes to Europa and Enceladus might yield amazing discoveries with a lot of money left over to build even better telescopes than the JWST and other cool stuff. Also, we could ramp up the launch schedules and production so that multiple expensive things were happening coterminously. That's just for one angle. Sorry if you thought I'd come up with automatic curb recycling machines that also neutered stray cats.
  9. I was hoping for something from your imagination. Mine runs wild, as you know.
  10. Okay, so to set the table, can you imagine a single Trillion dollar government program that might be worth the gamble?
  11. For sure, but the reality is that this transition isn't about you, today, a paid off car, or your own personal fun factor. It's about new technology and seeing how it can fit beneficially into a better future. Remember dial up internet? If the wizards had taken your world view we'd have ditched it and stayed with land line phones, fax machines, and 8 track tapes. You are welcome.
  12. I don't want to wait hours either, but if I was home more it wouldn't be an issue. A bennie for my chief pilot is charging his beamer at work. Also I sleep, intermittently sure, at night and wouldn't count that as wait time. More importantly, I fricken hate car road trips. Couple hours to the coast or the desert is plenty long enough for me so the whole waiting to refuel rigamarole wouldn't fit my program. Really, for as much of yourself as you've revealed, it wouldn't much hamper you either. And you are home more.
  13. Dang tootin', as our lost gun loving compadre BillE might say, until every kid is armed no one will be safe. Or as ol' Ron said once the crossfire in his church would be crazy if anyone pulled a gun. Yep, and yes he said that, and he was right! Until school shooters start fearing the crossfire in art class or recess from armed and ready kids (their CS teachers won't carry) the carnage will never stop. We need a national "Rittenhouse" law where you are required to be armed at every age and are held liable if you don't immediately assault whenever you suspect you can be of help.
  14. What more can be said? Pinellas County Sheriff's Office CNN — A 14-year-old has been charged with murder after being accused of fatally shooting his older sister on Christmas Eve during a family dispute over gifts, Tampa Bay area authorities say. His 15-year-old brother has also been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot the younger brother in retaliation for the shooting of their sister, Abrielle Baldwin, 23, the Sheriff’s office of Pinellas County, Florida, announced. The dispute began when the siblings, along with their mother and Baldwin’s two children, were shopping for presents on Christmas Eve and began arguing because the 15-year-old felt his brother was getting more gifts, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said during a press conference Tuesday.
  15. Fuck everyone! Can you hear me now? Do I win?
  16. Same as regular sex, just more of a surprise.
  17. What are you in a wad about, actually? Re-designating Venezuelans? Should we be sanctioning Mexico into de-stabilization or just invade them and send our troops to their southern border? The reality is that the conditions that create economic migration aren't a hell of a lot changed since your relatives left Africa (that's right, you weren't chased out by "others") except that now we are compounding the natural effects of entropy with hundreds of years of conquest, colonialization, and just being our natural asshole selves to each other. The bottom line is that there are a crap pot more rats on this small rock than there was in the good old days and it's only going to get busier at the borders of the haves. Merry Christmas to you, too.
  18. I'm certain at least your job is safe or were you planning on opening an Arepa truck?
  19. Yes, I have. I'm 6 months out and fully functional. I was actually out of the sling at one week with full ROM and a month. There are a variety of procedures so you need to do research. You also need to be willing to travel, maybe. I chose the procedure developed by Felix Savoie at Tulane but my surgeon was Ryan Simovitch at HSS in Florida. I read all of his publications and, of course everyone else's too. I also interviewed surgeons in 5 states to discuss procedures and devices. I also examined closely the implant manufacturers and decided on the Exactech devices as best for initial results and also for revision if necessary. Feel free to PM me for what I might have learned as you start learning.
  20. 100% of the people who were granted the apartments and homes of deported Jews supported Hitler, too. It is never, goddamnit because I hate the expression, black and white. There, I wrote it. It's always more nuanced, more complicated, and really, more interesting.
  21. Whoopdedoodle, for him. I think he voted for his wife in the last election and Trump before that. He's a hypocritical asshole who could have done anything meaningful besides crawling on his belly like the snake he is to Mar-a-Lago to beg forgiveness.
  22. Some robust physical barrier. Do you suppose tear gas, water cannons, a hard line government, and nearby Croatia helped out? You offered nothing because you have nothing but Fox news talking points.
  23. Would that make it a Triple First?
  24. Go for it, give us your no brainer plan for securing our borders. Tell us how you would do it, who you would do it to, and how you would pay for it. That's just for starters, so don't be surprised if the impossibility of your solutions generate a few more questions. The other two points I'll ignore. For sure you would drill for oil wherever it can be extracted, by any means and at any cost, because FUN! and and snowflake concerns be damned. That, and you have shown in spades already that you believe any investment in science that doesn't pay off in 15 minutes is a silly waste of money. So please ignore those two and just give us your secure borders plan.
