    Maybe, maybe not. The European Defense Material Industries, while excellent producers, will need to ramp up capacity which will take a lot of money and years. For a bonus, from whom do you suppose they'll need to turn to for weapons while they make up for going on the cheap? You guessed it, the USA just as your own country does because Australia also relies on uncle sugar for the serious kit and just now bumped your defense spending up to a whopping 2.02% of GDP so you can continue to contribute your annual one half of one percent to the world defense bucket.

    Probably there isn't anything now that will stop China from taking Taiwan, the Spratley's, or anything else they want. We can only hope that Europe can keep the front lines in Ukraine steady to keep Russia from re-arming while all of Europe gets their military capabilities up to speed. What a shit show. Trump is giving Europe to Putin and Republicans in Congress are standing up and applauding him while he's doing it. Unbelievable.

Truly, your view of what is happening in world politics today is as relevant, by comparison, as your belief that old 20 man formations are relevant to skydiving today; that is to say ossified.     I'm half convinced the knucklehead is thinking it would work to divide the world up three ways with Putin and Xi. His ludicrous Canada for a 51st state, buy Greenland, rename the Gulf of Mexico etc. seems like his usual telegraphing. Of course South AMERICA is already well named and we only need a Middle AMERICA. Cutting off Ukraine just gets Putin a few steps closer to his end of the deal: Europe. and who could be surprised if Taiwan falls to Xi in the next couple of years. Sadly, our (former) NATO partners went on the cheap spending on defense (I'm looking at you 1.37% of GDP Canada) and may not be able to muster enough will or material to thwart Putin now. It's a real mess, that's a fact.

I say that as someone who told my dad he couldn't fly my airplanes anymore until he got a BFR when he was 75. I say that as someone who needed to step in and say that a good jumper could jump his new 96 when he was 75 and consensus was he was too old. Maybe in another decade or so you can make some similar judgements and be right but not now. 50 is young and to you 70 is ancient. I've been in both sets of shoes. You don't know what you can not know.

    They've got him by the short hairs, obviously. Russia is on the ropes in Ukraine. The only way they escape is if the US throws Ukraine under the bus. In fact it's so obvious that it defies sensibilities that our pols cannot see it. Hopefully, after we're gone, and should be, the next round of DaVinci's and Newton's will prevail.

    Not claiming anything. I consider it a distraction and won't be sucked in by the misdirection. As I have repeated ad nauseam the election was about Trumps failings not her successes. I fully suspect that had she been elected she'd have pulled in very competent people to support her Presidency, like a good leader should, unlike the kow-towing band of dim wits and sycophants Trump selected. Nor would she have destroyed NATO, weakened our Democracy, or sucked up to Putin. Mostly she'd have held the line for a while is my guess. And yes the deficit sky would continue to fall and our bloated bureaucracy would still be working from home etc. etc. But at least when better leaders arrived things would still be repairable. I'm actually surprised you're so excitable. Stay chilly, Democrats are no more of an immediate danger than that asteroid coming by in 8 years or the millions of others that pass by all of the time.
