We? What and who are we? I think we need our combat arms vets standing up and calling out the administration. You know just as snowflakes like John Kerry did. But will they?
-
Yep, it was a booger. I told a niece it was a Tattoo of the Southern Cross and went up in her estimation, same as a Facebook Like I reckon.
-
It's a cool place. Quite a bit of Green washing, though, and I was quite surprised at the number of cats and dogs. I did get my first Tattoo there swimming with sea lions. Being too cool I decided to show one some free fly moves, dove to the bottom and promptly speared myself on one of the big Sea Urchins they have. It's never to late in life to be a dumbass. The deep fried Scorpion Fish is good grub, for sure.
-
The penguins there aren't much of a show but swimming with the baby sea lions is beyond cool.
-
I intend to as well. Seems like 3+ days there and the same days back for 3-4 days of standing on ice staring at penguins and sea lions and it ain't cheap. I don't doubt the nightly talking to's are awesome though.
-
Yep, and the good Senator is so gosh darn hopping mad over it that he's trading in his Tesla. That'll show 'em. So when are you and your SOF buddies going to get hopping mad?

You need to chew the leaves with a little baking soda. (from the internet.....)

And Green Tea Tree extract mixed with dead mouse paste. In news about real medicine with proven results, Coca Leaf farmers in Bolivia are pushing to market the leaves worldwide. Yum.

I read it and just like the rest of these woe is me, I didn't vote for this, Trump voting farmer stories I come away with the same opinion. Fuck you. And this time around good luck scoring $28 Billion in subsidies to make up for Trumps stupidities.
-
True, but that was before the discovery of Homeopathy which fixed everything.
-
Guy loses $200 Billion in the market in one month and can still flip $100 Million to Trump for future favors. Of course the average Trump voter has lost enough in retirement money, or asset value, or business income, that they are already headed to the Dollar Store for the same cheap Chinese seconds that cost 10% less last month. Jeez, who could have seen this coming?

As if just being a Wombat isn’t cruel enough.
-
Absolutely: there's a real reason we don't see a lot of Goth dressing adults these days. I'm not sure there is so much daylight between opinions here as the forcefulness of the dialogue seems to indicate. I simply cannot recall any posters thinking that kids should be allowed to transition based on their feels, their parents simplemindedness, or a psychologists delusions. I think the consensus is that true medical conditions that are fixable are reasonable upon serious consideration. In my view, men who want to serve their times in a women's prison, while an attractive proposition at first blush, shouldn't be facilitated with medical procedures nor should known biological men be allowed to compete against biological women in school sports. That said, after the fact XY chromosome surprises, that would likely be a devastating discovery for the individual, should never be an opportunity to practice ones asshole skills or craft preventive social policies beforehand.
-
No argument from me there. But to be clear if it's one of those confused biological situations where parents and medical doctors are trying their best to make an early on decision for a child that avoids a psychological disaster later, and there are never guarantees, you are good with the efforts?

I think you stated that when working with a lethal service, nobody gets a pass. Of course, that's not to mean du, bitte, it means everyone around you ie., packers, parachute sewers, aircraft mechanics, or even the desk girl who checks your reserve card for the date because that's all they need to do to claim legality and then casually wraps your boogie band around your bridle. If you have done this a lot, and you have you have, then like the rest of us you have on occasion held your nose and given a pass.

I once had a flap jack screw fail on a Turbine Beech on jump run. Because it was apparent I asked and kept the exits to small groups. No Biggie. On landing the trick was to control airspeed while the lazy flap lowered. With respect to Stacey, white, black, or otherwise it's a tricky bit to work out and most young flight instructors wouldn't have a clue.

We get back to varying definitions. Winsor is right when he states that: "We get back to varying definitions". Same as when we're advised that we are talking past one and other. Of course those are the reasons why the concept of DEI was borne: varying definitions and talking past one and other. He's also right when he points out the possible injustices that such concerns might cause. We proponents are more concerned with the actual and countable injustices that birthed DEI. But then I'm not sure I've ever been harmed by the idea.

Fair enough. But how does that work in practice? An ATP is an ATP and 10,000 hours are 10,000 hours, right? In addition to your PhD is someone tasked with reading your dissertation and making a judgement call? What about at the pizzeria? Is it immaterial who gets to be assistant manager? Have you ever gone skydiving?
-
Absolutely. It'll go to the Oregon Supreme Court where our worthies will rule that copies of the law must be posted in every school bus and passed out on Halloween, too. Then off to the US Supreme Court where sanity rules and they will be rightly incredulous that any fool can't see that with only ten rounds in your magazine and a miss rate of just 80% it will take only three Fentanyl crazed MS-12 gang members to overwhelm any nice nanna so unfortunate as to be unable to defend her quilt collection. Thank God for God thanking.
-
In my view, you could not be more correct. I have striven to practice that truth in every position of power I have ever had and take it on faith that you have done the same. Certainly we both know others who are not so much motivated by conscious as by laws and that's not only too bad it's also why we try to level things out in life. Of course, who might actually be the best candidate for advancement based on potential vs. someone with more experience and impeccable credentials is not an uncommon decision in business and has disjointed many noses, for sure. So I think the idea that we need ideas like DEI is the biggest problem with it.
-
Of course it's institutionalized: asking pretty please don't lynch the colorful college students didn't work. Seems to me that if unqualified folks were constantly being unfairly elevated in private business the system would self correct. In our public institutions, just like the world around, we're fucked.
-
And you'd be right in every situation where their advancement above you was unequal. The issue is, as there will never be a system that applies fairness in all situations, does this DEI idea actually cause more unfair kneeling than can be accepted against the balance of increased fairness it promises. If it's felt that any are too many and that's that then we need to either harden up or try something else because the old way of trusting each other to apply societal benefits on a fair and equal basis simply wasn't working.
-
The argument being made is that given our history DEI is a pathway to Equality, Merit and Integrity. Sure it's messy but outside of white suburbia there are a few otherwise nice but pointy hat wearing folks who need a solid framework jammed down their throats to quit being assholes.
-
It’s not already happening?

While NATO still exists and we're threatening your territorial integrity maybe Canada should invoke Article 5.
