  1. I understand how barcodes work, it was a metaphor. You continue to miss the point. I've said it repeatedly: it's not the issues so much as it's that Trump is an odious scumbag willing to harm anyone for an iota of personal gain. I will make money from his policies but I was happy to leave it on the table in exchange for being represented by an adult not a name calling bully who is both stupid and wide open to manipulation. It is there that we are different.
  2. How Wiki-smart of you. I must say, now that Trump's win has emboldened you to come out of the shadows I've learned a great deal. Mostly that I wasn't wrong at all about how different my world view is from that of most Trump supporters whose world views seem to have more blank spaces than a bar code.
  3. I'm guessing TF is that discrimination by a governmental agency is forbidden by the 14th Amendment. The issue is that we all seem to have our own views as to who is the discriminated against party. In Ron's interpretation, apparently, anyone not washed in the blood of Jesus Christ will do.
  4. Damn she can be uppity at times. You really should have pointed out her complete ignorance of sexual fluidity in ancient Greece as a whole and also how the Spartans managed their sexual anger. For sure she needs to learn how to play nice.
  5. To be clear I am no longer going to bother. I can easily see this new normal out lasting me. I know those with kids and grandkids are going to be hopeful and that’s sensible for them.
  6. Spend $100 on cancer surgery and see if that gets a lot worse. Unless you’re willing to spend moonshot amounts of tax dollars it will stay intractable. You think Musk gives a rats ass about the homeless? Of course a huge tax hike on the morbidly wealthy might help the financing but that isn’t why he’s helping America.
  7. At the end of the day you voted for a convicted felon. You agree he’s odious but you held your nose and voted for him in the hopes that his VP and Billionaire fanboy, both who are obviously in it for themselves, might do some good. Trump, you think, with his Supreme Court enablers will temper his worst impulses? You are in for an awakening.
  8. They would, we won’t. They win, we don’t.
  9. Look, I don't expect you to get where I'm coming from because what I believe and what motivates me falls in most right wingers blind spot. I concern myself with the welfare of others when I vote. Also, I am simply appalled by Trumps behavior. He is inarguably a crude vulgarian, a puerile fool, and a dangerous narcissist, and that's just to start. No matter how much money he can provide to me by and through his policies, and I stand to benefit, I do not want him representing me or my country. He is embarrassing. To me character matters.
  10. Owning real estate in Blue States is now a net positive, methinks.
  11. I'm thinking a go fund me or something. Maybe thoughts and prayers, too.
  12. I've been troubled with this reply and trying to sort out what to say. The idea that 10-11 million people might be wrenched from their lives, undocumented or not, and the invariable large number of innocents who will be swept up as well doesn't bother you just doesn't sit with me. These people are your fellow human beings and having fellow human beings is what makes any sort of society possible. Fortunately your callous disregard for your fellow humans being deported has little chance of happening. I guess that is what makes me weak: I could never vote for anyone who held such a view no matter the advantage I might gain.

    Trump

Winsor, my deepest apologies. I now understand that you are making funnies, but we sadly are still coming around. I had the honor in Türkiye, but it was no pleasure, of standing in line for several hours to see the Beard of the Prophet, and several important swords and assorted gizmos. Most memorable was how we were quickly moved along when the blessed artifact was coming into view. The gizmos were available for extended staring. (sagfe)
  14. Thank you for making crystal clear what I only suspected. No doubt when you learn that we don’t have a department of deportations staffed with 20,000 officers or a fleet of deportation aircraft and that there aren’t any countries jonesing to take their share of 11 million people or that the United States doesn’t drill baby drill but that companies do and they already have 9000 leases if they wanted to drill but haven’t you’ll find something similar to post for our edification.
  15. I'll concede, and have done so here repeatedly, that we missed a lot and Harris was far from the best candidate possible. But what is nonsensical to me is that the right seems unable to address Trumps criminality and unfitness in any serious way. For example, do you believe January 6 was a "love fest" as Trump has stated and will you be proud to be an American when he fulfills his promise to pardon the lot of those convicted of actions that resulted in 140 police officers being injured or worse?

Bernays states the obvious, so in that sense he's right. Suderland simply uses the ancient idea of alchemy to argue that perception is reality. AKA Marketing 101.
  17. It's all over but the crying. But I'm not crying, I'm repositioning. I now live in an every person for themselves country so I will adjust. Everyone should dry their tears as soon as possible and recognize that it's not just the next 4 years but likely longer with or without Trump. They need to realize that our Supreme Court will become a permanent extreme right institution. Exhibit one of our stupidity was Connor, Exhibit two was RBG. Exhibit three is likely to be Sotomayor.
  18. Sure, but in reality our deep diving into that sort of analysis is about as useful as reading the nutritional label on a box of crackerjacks: interesting for a moment but we still bought a box of junk by being stupid. And I'm not talking about MAGA heads, I mean we liberals. We simply do not know how to read the room. We all thought that reasonable, rational people would discard Trump based on his odious character and simply didn't care that Harris had a bad message and started way too late. Biden owns that, for sure. If he would have telegraphed his intention to be a one term President the mandarins would have had time to come to grips with reality, maybe. There should have been a field to choose from, bottom line. So we totally screwed that up royally. I don't blame Latino men, Black men, or suburban women. I blame us. We blew it with our hi-falutin ideas that take nuance to comprehend and do nothing to address the price of eggs on the shelf. DEI is a noble idea, and I believe it's the right way to live, but in an election it's also an anagram for DIE.
  19. In many cases it means packers, TI's, and grounds people. But never in the case of a DZ where folks are concerned about our southern border. And too often they are making so much money they are buying houses out from under Doctors and Lawyers.
  20. Sorry, I assumed you voted. You say John lives a good life, I disagree. He drives a little old car without a roof and plays with toy airplanes, and wears a Christopher Columbus hat. Frankly, I find that sad. But he did used to be someone and deserved a fat payday for all of the work he put in to do what he did. The question is: who should pay for it all, individuals or society? Would you be cool with a national program that covered tuition at community college for an AA and then a state college for the rest of the ride?
  21. The system of realtors raises the cost of Real Estate. You are a very real part of that machine, are you an important cause of the high cost of real estate?
  22. You wrote the book, tell us why.
