More exciting news from that known hotbed of enlightenment, Mifflin County, PA.

    covid-19

Don't bet the farm. Once our Bubba's find out they won't be getting play time with the sheep if'n they get Covid they'll be beating down the doors, instead. Brilliant marketing by someone, methinks.

    covid-19

Look at you! For some strange reason you got you some old time religion now that your immunity is kicking in.

    covid-19

Of course, even though churchgoers are infected at rates greater than everyone else they can continue to rely on Jesus, and the United States Supreme Court, as their vaccine.
  5. Have you sorted out how many were likely Trump voters based on locations?
  6. Well, as the saying goes, you can put your realized hopes in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first. Good for me I won't be around for the I told you so's but I do not see the capacity in American or any western style democracy to govern a billion people. much less billions. And no, I am not forgetting about India. As an aside, I might note that you didn't foresee smarter people.
  7. The market isn't pure efficiency. Have you studied what $15 an hour, say split between two part time or gig economy jobs, will buy in your area for someone not living with their divorced mom? Rent, car and insurance, medical insurance, clothes etc..? 15 bucks an hour for someone who just wants some extra hours on the side is fine. But if it's to support yourself, or maybe a kid, too, that's a different thing. Especially in a country that does not provide universal health care or a real safety net if hell hits.
  8. A few years ago there was a fair bit of buzz in the Turbine Aircraft DZO world about the pilot shortage. I pointed out, as gently as I could, that there was no pilot shortage; there was a paycheck shortage. Some folks couldn't get their heads wrapped around the idea that the person with a 5 or 6 figure education who was responsible for a million dollar aircraft and 16 lives 25 times a day might just need as decent a pay check as their top TM. Now that the vaccine is readily available to any who want it I'm in agreement that the unemployment subsidy needs to come to an end. But so should paying people 7 bucks an hour.
  9. Logic? Didn't work. Money? Nope? Explain the science? Fugehdaboudit. Now, this might work: "Researchers from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine say that their study found men who previously did not suffer from erectile dysfunction but developed it severely after their COVID-19 infection." I'm thinking we are on the way to herd immunity.
  10. Got me. But if Brent say's it's true I'm not arguing.
  11. I'm of no mind to give the US voter a scintilla of credit. 74 Million+ of them would have us still under his yoke. Out of curiosity, how do you see human society in 1000 years? Will it still be a disparate array of nations of unequal size, wealth and power as today? One big homogenous democracy running like an oiled machine with liberty and justice for all? Sort of, it seems to me that China may have sorted out how to govern large numbers. I simply don't see how our system scales up.
  12. Poor baby. Your hero status voided with the closure of your two Cessna DZ and now, without a sycophant in sight, you are reduced to posts like that. So is Biden behind these Russian cyber attacks that are also associated with an invasion of drugs? Both, as all know, were never known before his election. More interestingly is this news that Mexicans are shipping guns into America! Bastards! And for sure he is to blame for any level of enmity between the Palestinians and the Israelis. I'm thinking that before the weather improves and it's fun for them you need to take your kids survival camping again.
  13. And Canada and America. All western nations are burdened by the illusion that weapons that will turn to rust in 20 years are the measure of success and power. Yes, the F-22 is amazing but so was the King Tiger tank. All nice but numbers matter more. "The highest Generalship is 'to compel the enemy to disperse his army, and then to concentrate superior force against each fraction in tum' ". Sun Tzu
  14. Sorry but the shit really is hitting the fan, just not the one blowing cool air in your direction. Step back for a minute and survey the political landscape in America. Elsewhere, too, but not right now. Trump isn't gone. We are far from done with him or Trumpism. Liz Cheney is gone, good riddance, for defying the former president. But so what, really, thats a time blip. Fast forward 50 years, if you will, when the US population will be 500 Million. Do you really think that we will have added 175 million smarter people who are all voting and acting in their true best self interests? I don't, that's for sure. The more I look around the more I think our experiment in rule by the people is time dated. It seems to be that, like in ancient civilizations that lasted thousands of years, the only way to control the masses is by autocracy and the concentration of wealth in the hands of their princes. That must be why autocracy is on the rise world wide. At a certain point the number of rats on the rock require sterner measures, seems to me.
  15. Usually. Anytime a person needs 3 question marks to ask a question is a great tell. Yes, you are wrong. Not at the level of the surface but below. Our problem is that as a society is that we create criminals to incarcerate and that we give the incarcerators a profit motive. It is just that simple.
  16. This bit is interesting. So a man is intentionally hit by a bus. But can you believe the media coverage? We're all like so OMG!
  17. Neither does current President Biden. Nonetheless, thanks to his gifted and inspired leadership the awful 25% tariff on French wines has been suspended.
  18. Quite possibly. I once started a paper intended to demonstrate that index fingers were the culprit but, and this is all on me, I lost track one day pointing at a glazed donut with double sprinkles at a Dunkin Donuts. I was falsified before breakfast.
  19. You're probably right but the night I did some lines in Casper it seemed to me that everyone was on the same page.
  20. Damn interesting map. Apparently wherever there are people where are gun related deaths. Any other common denominators?
  21. All true but this is Speakers Corner. I have, admittedly, achieved a certain degree of financial security through an odd combination conflicting of galling hypocrisies and inadvertent good works. From what I hear, you went to school. Happy though we each are with our respective outcomes I, as humbly as I can, respectfully submit that those among and above us who are somehow able to scrape together another $50 Billion or so while my favorite sushi chef is collecting dinner at the local food bank ought to be paying a crap load more. Especially if it is futile and punitive.
  22. Jokes on you. You've been arrested and released on bail. Well done and very well played. Thanks!
  23. Some day's there's an apocalypse under every rock. I suggest setting your clock back 24 hours and just watching.
