Have everyone lie and go without the documentation they will need to enter Kabul Airport? Send a SEAL Team to escort the bus? How about accept reality within the confines of the shit agreement Trump laid on us and play ball? Sometimes there are no perfect choices.

I support President Biden, primarily, because he isn't Trump. These are the sorts of choices one is often faced with in a rational world. As we don't live on a kindergarten playground, we who so chose Biden are mindful of the reasons that caused us to make the decision. So, no thanks to your constant invitation to act as if we just poked a beak through our shells and the future starts today.

At least three I know of first hand are smart people who have breakthrough infections. Sadly, I'm thinking the new normal is already here. Get vaccinated and stay boosted by hook or by crook. Hang with vaccinated people who can be trusted to not be too loose because of whatever the reason and patronize places that take masks and protocols seriously. Good for us that we have lot's of gay friends; they are all vaccinated and take things seriously.

Cheer up Tootsie Roll, SHTF and the party of God has won the day in Afghanistan. There will be no more abortions but lot's of mandatory religious study, heathens will be executed or worse, liberals are in hiding or running for their lives and no one will be taking any guff from the ladies. Well that was fast. Were they escorted to the Presidential Palace by the Afghan Army in ex-US Army lorries? At the end of the day it is the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Or was I should qualify, and 99.7% of the population are adherents of Islam. Seems to me they've simply traded an ostensibly enlightened Islam for a darker version. Fine. Peace be with them.

Already the heart string plucking is underway. Yes, the Taliban will make life miserable, and in some cases much shortened, for many. Innocents will die in masses, women will be enslaved, religious ignorance and intolerance will be the order of the day and misery will prevail. By any secular or western standard, conditions in Afghanistan under the Taliban will be beyond awful. The thing is that every Afghan soldier, every Afghan citizen and every Afghan politician knows that truth. If the Afghan citizenry and the Afghan Army aren't ready, able and willing to stand, fight, and die for their freedoms now, so be it.
