I've got to agree with Zenister. I've had a CP necklace get snagged once on exit on a King Air door. It broke at the clasp. The week before, someone at the DZ convinced me to stop wearing my packing tool around my neck. That one was Cypres loop material with the steel leverage bar. If I'd been wearing that and it snagged I'd be dead. Never wear anything on your neck during a jump that's stronger than your neck. Now, for the rest of the thread, as for what I wear I have a great purple/silver/white CP necklace that Pammi made me, and also a tattoo. Jeff, In a captive-bead setup, the bead is held between the two points by pressure. The ends are slightly pointy, and there are two small dimples (for lack of a better word) on the bead itself. I have 14ga niobium rings in my ears with hematite beads. To remove them, I just pop the bead out (after much cursing and pressure) and then slide the hoop out of my ear. I'm sure the RSL would have worked fine were it not disconnected. Sometimes, shit happens. I had a student I put out of the plane come up to me after landing and their RSL was disconnected. I know it was connected because I go over the front of their gear in the Cessna right before exit. This is why backup devices are not to be relied upon.
