Hola all, A couple of weekends back, one of the jumpers (Augie) at my DZ showed us a video from his old DZ (Greensburg, in Indiana) called "Back to the Earth" by Ben Yonker. The video was absolutely friggin' great, it was funny as hell, it had a lot of cool parodies (Pearl Harbor & AI if skydivers were involved was funny) a great soundtrack and awesome footage. It's not a commercial tape from what I understand but one that was put together for kind of a DZ "Best Of". The problem is that the copy he showed was pretty crappy and worn out. Does anyone from Greensburg know how I can get a clear copy? VHS would be fine, Mini-DV would be SCHWEET! I would like to get him a fresh copy for a gift since he is in several sequences & he has done me a few favors and two, I want a copy for myself! So if anyone knows, let me in on price, contacts, etc... Thanks!!! Kris

Send a PM to Pammi or Merrick, they both have one and really like them. Kris

Great. Where was this advice before my "Great Nitrous Oxide Experiment of 1988?" Let's just say that some friends and I played with an old Datsun B-210 4-door and some NO2. The results were interesting to say the least... Sigh... As soon as I pass 60K on my Tiburon she's getting forced induction. Can't decide if I want to supercharge (easy but not "Dial-A-Boost[tm]) or turbocharge (a LOT of internal engine work to prep the engine but damn does it make Mad Horse Power). Kris

Not quite. I bought it broken and paid for it & fixed it up myself. It was a few years old. Other kids had rich parents or paper routes or worked fast food, I worked on computers and kept a savings account. Ever since high school I have never had to ask my parents for a dime. Kris

Hey, JT! Is this the pic you were looking for?

Not quite. Back in high-school I had an IROC-Z 5.7 liter Tuned-Port. Ran out of gas at a bonfire party and drunk as we were decided to pour a couple of jugs of Everclear in the tank. It blew the shit out of the TPI manifold and pieces of part of the engine turned into shrapnel that tried to claw their way through the hood to ecape the madness. That was about 90-seconds after we started it up. In retrospect, looking at it from over a decade later, that was some pretty cool shit.

I have, with two of my ex-girlfriends just out of high-school. Funny end-note to that: They ended up dating each other a few months later.

The rooftop hockey scene, from Kevin Smith's "Clerks" Damn, I love that movie! Kris "That's nothing, one time I called this chick, 'mom.'"

Dave, buddy! You have to hook me up on that URL! Please! Kris

Hey, TequilaGirl! You're not the one dating Two-Names (Greg Rick) are ya? If so, small world and tell the bum I said, "Hola!" Kris

My rule if I have to use an unfamiliar rigger is to either watch him pack my reserve or to have watched him pack other reserves. I also talk to other jumpers about their work but make no mistake, riggers are people too and they can and have made mistakes. Your best defense is to know thy gear so that you have an understanding of what is and is not proper. Also, my rig is a Mirage in an M4 size for a PD-160 or Dash-M 181 reserve. I have a rigger that can pack my re-inforced Tempo 210 and my CYPRES in the rig and the flaps are flat. If I give it to another rigger and the flaps are bulging then I know that there wasn't a great deal of finesse used and that he isn't familiar with the two tricks that are used on overstuffed Mirages like mine to make them functional yet look good. This falls under the "Know thy gear" category again. Kris

I didn't like my Skytronic Pro. I had to have it repaired after a month and the turn-around was over three months. Totally unacceptable. My Pro-Track has been going rock-sold for well over a year now, even on the same set of batteries. I *know* that if I have a problem with my Pro-Track it will be taken care of quickly and efficiently. L&B definitely has made a lifetime customer out of me. Kris

Allen, Oversteer is pretty common on all ellipticals to some degree or another. Compared to the Stiletto's I have jumped the Heatwave would probably stop about 75-90 degrees from when I let the toggle up after a hard toggle turn. The Stiletto's I have jumped stop after about 15-30 degrees. The canopies were 190's loaded at close to 1.4:1 Kris

OOOHHHHH!!! ME! ME! ME! THANK YOU!!!! I like the bedsheet idea! And Jess, sweet one on the Opus suggestion. I thought I was the only one who still knew what Bloom County is. Hmm, now I could use Bill the Cat as an example of a day-old skydiver hangover.... Kris

Eardrums are bad, a ruptured sinus would be much worse and will require some pretty serious surgery. I went through the same thing last month, just do the same thing I did: tough it out and wait until you are 100%. The sport WILL wait. Kris

I put my name / address / e-mail and home DZ info in the warning label on my Stiletto. Used a fine-tip Sharpie and it seems to be holding up well. Kris

Wouldn't happen to have been Brandon and Beth would it? They rock. Period. Brandon has really been helping me out with my freeflying and he's going to do some canopy coaching with me this weekend. He was one of the people on the 15-way linked freefly record last year at Summerfest. Kris

Trust me, I understand the priorites. On my first cutaway (I've had two) I had just had the reserve repacked about 10 days early. It was still the best $90 I spent on two reserve re-packs (One the weekend before, one the next weekend

Pam, I am putting together a safety day at the DZ this year. Details to follow... Kris

Yup, what Farmer said. Use a C-182, IAD it, use a sniveller, don't take a grip that can't be broken without breaking you and TAKE A HOOK KNIFE! Also, you might want to give Palmer a call, he invented the thing after all (seriously).

Having jumped both a Heatwave and a Stiletto I can tell you that they definitely are in the same performance class. Also, the Heatwave I jumped had a vicious amount of oversteer that took some getting used to. If it wasn't for the manufacturing defect and the amount of time it would have taken to fix it I would have kept it instead of trading up on a new Stiletto. Kris

As soon as I can find someone competent to draw it I want Calvin & Hobbes freeflying (doing a mind-meld) or doing CReW on the outside of my calf. Kris

Sabre 210 loaded at 1.27:1 Kept it for 120-ish jumps then moved to a Heatwave 190 for a few jumps and now I have a Stiletto 190 that I am loading at just under 1.4:1. Kris

If Don (Skydiver51) doesn't read this first, PM him. He flies video and last I knew, jumps an Omega. Kris
