Roy does rock! Glad to hear about your new toy. Don't forget thy BEER! Kris (Yeah, so my Mirage sits in the bed next to me when I'm not at the DZ... What's so strange about that?)

Okay, this guy had to be a former turbine driver for a really busy & windy DZ somewhere... Warning, page contains nudity... You've been warned. Kris

Okay, okay... I'm man enough to admit that I own "Hudson Hawk" on DVD... Kris Darwin: I'll torture you so slowly you'll think it's a career. I'll kill your friends, your family, and the bitch you took to the prom. Hawk: Betty-Jo Biarsky? I can get you an address on that. George: Rome - I had my first bare-handed strangulation here. Communist politician. God, I miss Communism! The Red Threat? People were scared, the agency had respect, and I got laid every night.

I agree, Phree. We run Crosswind as one of the "babysitter" movies on the lounge & hanger TV's at my DZ. It never fails to get "ooh's & ahh's". I think my favorite part is the scene with the Flyboyz jumping the smoke cannisters. You can see where they were on the hill during some of the footage by the smoke trail and the footage of them spinning a Maypole with the smoke just plain rocked. Kris

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "A Charlie Brown Christmas" yet. Sigh... Kris (Off to find the ugliest tree...)

Houston ROCKED! I finally made it home so here is my report: Brandon and I arrived at the DZ at 2:30am so I immediately crashed in my car. Woke up about 8:30 am and the place was already packed. Everyone that I met was very friendly and in no time, the Otter was spooling up. I did the waiver thing and then asked to speak to a rigger. A friend of mine just sold me his 1 year-old CYPRES for an absolutely AMAZING deal but my rigger was unable to fit it into my M$-sized Mirage with my Tempo 210. The manifest girl hooked me up with their rigger, Tom. He told me that since it wasn't his pack job he would have to repack the reserve too, then he told me he could do it right then and there. I had to ask him to repeat that last part, I must have been deaf... Nope, I heard right. He repacked my reserve, installed the CYPRES (the rig looked better than before after he was done) and tried to charge me $45. Now, his willingness to jump on it on a busy Saturday with an obviously already-tight reserve was worth a bit more than a measly $45 so I give him a huge tip as thanks. He's a really great guy, let me watch the work and did a first-class job. Brittany is still a hottie and damn can she fly. She had no problems keeping up with me, the human bowling ball, which is impressive when you realize that she's 100 pounds soaking wet. Did some great jumps, had some great landings, surprised the shit out of some older guy as I came surfing past him at a pretty good clip (sorry, thought it was Trey

Here's your request, Pammi! Also, if Merrick isn't artist enough to help you make your own heart like in the picture, let me know. I'm here to help. Kris (I'm goin' to hell for that one...)

At my DZ, we just purchased a dozen or so new Skymasters a few months ago. They are 200's, 230's, 260's & 290's. Since that time I have noticed that our students are getting much better at canopy control and because of the way they fly (more like a true ZP since they are a hybrid canopy), students seem to have a much easier time transitioning to an all ZP canopy such as a Sabre. As far as the openings go, all of ours have been sweet & consistent with closed end-cells only happening VERY rarely. Kris

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Dash-M has Spectra lines instead of Dacron Lines. Kris

Yikes, Ann! That's not how we do things here in Oklahoma. We try to help each other out the best we can. Usually for just the cost of a jump ticket, usually not. Depends on the person. Granted, we don't have a huge talent pool to choose from but we have a few gems. I have been getting a few coached freefly jumps from a guy named Brandon Chouinard at my DZ who is helping me on my sit. Some may ask, "Who the hell is Brandon Chouinard?" He's the guy that was part of the world-record 15-way head-down at SDC last summer and is regularly asked to fill slots on dives with people like Mike Ortiz & Rook Nelson. He's a great guy and usually won't let me pay for his jumps when he has helped me. I wouldn't mind paying a large fee to someone who is great and can actually instruct but it is still nice to see really talented people help out because they love to see others grow in the sport. Not because they are so blinded by the dollar signs that they forget that they can barely fly themselves or are just in it for the free lift ticket. Kris "Flailer 4 Life"

Hey! Anime is not just animation. It's a frickin' religion! You could at least show some respect for my pagan beliefs and spell it right...

I have never received nothing but exceptional service from Tony & Kate at SkyKat. They truly do stand behind their products. Kris

Schweet! Looking forward to meeting you, Zennie! Although I will warn you the limited RW I do is only with students so I suck. But at least I'm honest about it and I am getting better at chasing almost anything after working with students.
-
Well, I'm from Oklahoma but I'll be there.
-
Well, folks. I just found out that Skydive Houston is having $12 jumps so I will be there this weekend (1st & 2nd)! Anyone else going? Kris
-
Heh. Thanks. We haven't met yet but I hope I get to meet you when I get to Texas. Yup, Brittany warned me about those guys and told me to talk to them when I get there. I REALLY want to try a downplane sometime. Hopefully I don't get injured in the after-hours antics like Slappie.

*** I'm skipping my B, I can use that license money for jumps, and going straight to C...only a few more jumps [\quote] Sorry to burst your bubble, Dave, but you can't do that any more. You have to get each of the licenses in succession, you can't skip one like you used to be able to last year. Kris

Actually, I'm a Linux zealot and my other PC is an SGI O2 running IRIX but I have to give my $0.02 and clear up some mis-information... You can take ANY of those IDE hard drives off the shelf at Best Buy and put them in any Mac that's a G3 or above. The 8 36GB 10K-RPM U-160 SCSI drives that I just bought to make my video-RAID came out of a Mac that was running as a file-server and my nephew is using my old Maxtor 60GB ATA-100 hard drive from my Athlon box in his Mac G4 just fine. If someone is just looking for something to cut video on, go for the Mac, it will be cheaper for the performance, period. For a PC, you will probably have to buy the Fire-Wire card ($60), good video-editing software equal to the Mac Stuff (I'm not talking Ulead Video Studio, think Adobe Premier & Adobe After Effect = $serious cash) and enough processing power to cut & render the video at the same speed the Mac will ($=you don't want to know). You'll need at least a dually-processor setup to keep up, trust me. You can still get MS office & other popular work-related software for the Mac but if you are just doing video, the Mac is the way to go and has the absolute easiest learning curve. If you ever want to play serious games, then you may want to think about going the PC route as the PC is still the undisputed king of gaming. Nothing a Mac has will touch my GeForce3 when it comes to running Unreal, Quake-3 or other games flat-out at 1024x768. As for upgrades on the Mac, the SCSI adapters, video-cards, ethernet adapters and storage I have seen are all competively priced compared to their PC counterparts and Mac's from the G3 on take the same RAM as PC's do. You will pay more on a Mac for processor upgrades though (if you can get them) but they are generally plenty fast as is. Mac's are not specialized on the hardware any more. That was true when they were still using the NU-Bus but they're PCI now and a lot of PCI cards for the PC will work in the Mac. I do believe that Apple's harsh licensing strategy is the reason we're all not using Apple's now but then again, Apple has always been exceptional at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory even though they truly do have the superior product. Check with Merrick, he just got one. I took a look at his a few weeks ago, the workmanship seemed top-notch (good, reinforced stitching, etc.) and it looked great too... Kris

*** Ya just had to include a link that poped open 8 windows huh Kris.... [\quote] Argh! Sorry about that! I modified the link to go straight to the movie. Kris

I don't know about Destiny's Child but Rage Against The Machine made me think. If you have to think about it, you do. I have. His name is Juan Valdez and I have him handcuffed to my Krups Espresso machine. Hmm, I got one free with Juan. As long as the names do not include: Cletus, Peggy Anything, Bubba, or any girls name ending in "iqua" Sometimes we're just painfully shy. Other times, we just don't want anyone to guess where the plutonium is hidden. Ahem.

Okay, since we've taken it to this level I guess I'll add this in... So I took my nephew to go see Harry Potter last Wednesday (Allright! You got me! He was my excuse to go see the movie) and here is what I saw on one of the previews: The scene opens up on a gothic mansion during a lightning storm. Familiar orchestral music wafts through the theatre (think Danny Elfman). The announcer is talking about there being a time for heroes, real heroes and that time is now. Pan to a room with a figure looking out into the storm with two very pointy ears. The music crescendos to the point where we recognize the Batman theme and we're thinking it's the new batman flick... Nope, the lightning flashes to reveal Scooby Doo. A fully CGI, looks just like a real dog Scooby Doo, and he talks. One of the best trailers I have seen in a while. Info here: Scooby Doo Link to teaser trailer: Trailer Geez, I'm such a kid at heart. I can't wait for this one to open... Kris

ARRGH! Curses! Foiled again!!! I would have gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for you kids and your stupid talking dog! Kris (Whoa, Saturday morning cartoon flashbacks are cool!)
