Doesn't matter. That info is mainly used for marketing research anyway. A sales reciept (and sometimes a credit card statement) is the only accepted proof of date-of-purchase when it comes to warranty repairs. We definitely see eye-to-eye on this one, Andy. If one of my students mentions the phrase "two-stage flare" I cringe, then correct them. The phrase I use is "dynamic flare" because it is a flare that is constantly changing based on need. BirdMan recommends 500 if you want to learn to fly it on your own with no instruction, and only 200 jumps (with great currency) if you want to learn to fly one after being evaluated and taught by a BM-I. Unacceptable. Period! I don't care if the exit light is on or not. If the spot isn't correct, I'm not going. Remember, people, you are responsible for your skydive, even for your spot. I will definitely waste "thousands of feet" if the spot isn't right and you had better belive that I or my group will be asking for a go-around if the spot is such that there is no way possible to make it back to the DZ. If it will do capture then you should be able to use it. The catch is what can you use it with...? If you're using the software that came with the card, no problem. But check and make sure that it is supported by Pinnacle Studio or Adobe Premier if you decide to use one of those programs for editing. USB 2.0 is currently rated only 80Mbps faster than IEEE-1394(FireWire). But, here's the catch, supposedly no USB 2.0 device has ever been able to transfer at their top rated bus speed of 480, 420-440 seems to be about the limit. FireWire is already road-mapped to 800, 1600, and 3200 transfer rates with FireWire2 (125Gbps) right around the corner. The big disadvantage of USB is that it requires a controller (the PC) to do all of the work and initiation to the USB devices. With FireWire, everything on the pipe is a device, including the PC. They operate in a true peer environment and the comms protocols are controlled on a per-device basis. USB 2.0 is also inferior in how it allocates bandwidth to devices. If you have three devices connected on a USB bus, each is allocated 1/3 of the available bandwidth even if that device is not being used. FireWire bandwidth is allocated by need and priority.
