  1. That would be Brian's latest creation, the Sensei. Crossbraced, airlocked...sounds like it's going to be a monster. Way beyond my experience level but I can't wait to see one fly. From the gossip I've heard, it not too much farther from being released. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  2. But at least it made great entertainment for the rest of us to watch you try to collapse it after landing a couple of weekends back! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  3. Heh. We hooked one! Reel him in, fast! Kevin, that's Raeford having some fun with the car Nathan left behind. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  4. We don't have to have a rigger supervise our main pack jobs here in the US if we're packing our own main. But it is supposed to be required if another person, who isn't a rigger, packs your main. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  5. Good points. Another thing to look for to be absolutely sure: Check the kill-line slack in the PC compared to the tapes. You can do this by looking through the mesh while holding the PC inverted by the bridle. If the tapes are slack and the kill-line is taut, it isn't cocked. It should be the opposite with the tapes taut and the kill-line having slack. I check this every time I cock my PC. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  6. You were soooo close. A good 4-way team goes thud thud. (Can't forget the camera!) A great 4-way team goes thud *turns point on the bounce* thud thud (Great camera waits to grab the last point) Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  8. Personally, I think that's pushing it a bit, but given the realm of probability, anything is possible. [Homer Voice] D'oh! [/Homer Voice] You got me there. I need to read and not skim before I post. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  9. Thanks for jumping in with that before I decided to, Kriss. I got what Jraf was trying to say. Remember folks, not everyone believes in the same god, some don't think he exists, and those who believe in the Christian god are a very small minority compared with the rest of the planet's beliefs. 10. I've got to vote for my own DZO, of course....Steve Guest at Skydive Hinton, OK. Nice guy, knows when to sit back and let the staff run, always has a great attitude. And while I only spent one weekend at Skydive San Marcos, I was really impressed with Phil the DZO while I was there. The DZ was very nicely run. 11. I would define it as a malfunction that was a direct result of an improper pack job. The most common packing-induced malfunctions would probably be line-overs (sloppy packing), bag-locks (sloppy stows), PC-in-tow (should have cocked that PC), and hard-pulls (stuffing a bulging, dead-rat of a PC in the pouch). I would say that Line twists and tension knots get a bit sketchier to define blame... They can both be caused by bad packing technique, but usually fall under the "shit happens" category. Examples we all know: Line twists caused by deploying while unstable, deploying with a dropped shoulder, radically non-symmetrical pack job, and not leaving enough slack between the risers and the last stow on the bag (This is what got me on my last cutaway). Just my $0.02 of an opinion, but I usually pack for myself anyway. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. I think Bill Booth said it best in this excerpt from his article Jumping with Underage Tandem Students For instance, a single lawsuit involving a USPA Tandem Master, jumping a Cypres equipped Vector tandem, with a PD reserve, and a Strong main, with no valid waiver, would most likely result in the end of Relative Workshop, PD, Strong Enterprises, Airtec, and USPA. Plus, of course, the foolish Drop Zone that was willing to "take the risk." If you haven't yet been sued for $10,000,000, then you don't have the right to say this is unrealistic. It is not only realistic, it is a near certainty. Think what would happen to our sport with all those companies gone. Not worth it in my opinion. 13. You forgot the option "Don't have an Airlocked canopy, but really want one" My next canopies to demo after I am done with my Stiletto will be a Crossfire2 (non-airlocked), Vengeance and a Samurai. From everyone I have talked to that has jumped said canopies, I will probably end up on the Samurai if the demo flies as well as everyone else says it does. I like the idea of a more rigid and efficient airfoil. While airlocks aren't any quarantee against turbulence and bad winds, I will take even the small increase in stability as an Oklahoma jumper. 14. On most PD canopies, the brake lines used on Spectra lined canopies is 825. If the brake lines and the other lines are the same size & thickness, it's 825 Spectra. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  15. Where tandems are concerned, the drogue isn't designed to add stability (it's only a small by-product), simply to slow the pair to a lower freefall speed instead of the "tandem terminal" speed you would have without a drogue. As for the not designed for stability part, I believe I read about that from RiggerRob or Bill Booth on here before. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  16. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Check this one out. $7850.00 a bottle. Hardy Perfection Fire, 140 Years Old Kris (I am in the wrong business...) Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Forget Freebirds, grab a Habanero's Grill burrito. I had one in San Antonio two weeks back and I have to say that it rocked just a bit harder than a Freebird's burrito... Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  24. I chose the "3-sizes" option on the poll as that is what I intended to do when I bought my Mirage G3 M4. It was supposed to hold a 170 tightly and I am packing a Stiletto 190 in there easily. The problem is I have tried a Sabre 170 in my Mirage and the container is too big to hold the size it was designed for. As it is, with my 190, my closing loop is less than an inch in size and could actually stand to be a bit shorter. I never thought about it when the container was new but now that I've had it for over a year I know there is no way I can use it for the "3-sizes" approach and will have to probably sell it this year. If you decide to buy a container for the same purpose I did, check the sizing with the intended canopies when you first get it or you may be in for a surprise.
