Timely. I just got home from work. This afternoon a young pregnant woman, 33 weeks gestation, came in after 4 days of vomiting....blood. She's positive for cocaine, and her baby's heart rate is non-reactive, which is bad. Of course she wouldn't let anyone monitor her baby for the first few hours she was there, and won't take an NG tube. She's had no prenatal care, though she has medicaid. I'm sure they're taking the baby by c-section about now. This is not an isolated incident. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. I would get my ER records if I were you. It's probably pretty plain in there what happened while you were in the ER. I bet the doc ordered those things you were charged for, but if the nurses didn't do them because you refused, I believe they would have documented that. The nurse's notes are the place to look. I would hope that the hospital would review those honestly for you, but it can't hurt to look yourself. It may take some time to GET the records once you request them, though. Fordyce, AR....population nearly 5,000. Actually there are more Baptists than Methodists, but going to the Methodist church....that's been my family's church for generations....keeps me in good favor. It does help coming back here as a physician, though. They seem to be cutting me just a little more slack than in the past. Oh yeah. I live smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt myself. Publicly, one behaves in ways that are appropriate to the community, and an occasional appearance in the Methodist Church with your famly doesn't hurt. But there are plenty of folks around who are very much like yourself, and ya' choose THEM to be your running buddies. You're always being watched in a town like this....always. Jen....you're obviously an intelligent woman. Sometimes, when you're not attacking people to make your point, I like what you have to say. I often don't agree with you, but I think that you make good points. But then you do this so often. Your hostility seems just about out of control. Unfortunately (and I think you might find this in your professional world if you don't find a way to temper it) people have a hard time taking someone seriously who can't keep from belittling people they disagree with.
