  1. Hey. Any of you other net-admin type folks out there know how to get a MS Exchange 5.0 server to 5.5? The only media we have at work is for 5.0, even though our system is 5.5. I see service packs to get from 5.0 to 5.0 sp2 and from 5.5 to 5.5 sp4, but nothing on how to get from 5.0 to 5.5. I looked on the MS site without finding anything really helpful. I posted to the MS Exchange newsgroup, but haven't gotten an answer yet. We have a license for the software here at work, but the consultants who set up the system before I started working here were pretty bad about leaving documentation and even the software they used to set up the systems. On a related note, how have people found Exchange 2000? Eventually, I'll get a copy to evaluate here, but I haven't done it yet. Thanks! Justin My Homepage
  2. Remi, I'd heard Bomber was doing selected parts, but not that they were going to actually start making complete rigs. That is interesting news. If they go back into production, the parts issue should be mitigated fairly well. If I see old Reflexes going cheap enough, I just may pick an entire one up as a second rig/parts rig. Who knows. Thanks for the update. Justin My Homepage
  3. As bizarre as this sounds, I'm jealous of all of you and your problems with your rig manufacturers. I have a used Reflex, and Fliteline (the manufacturer) went bust. "Poor customer service"? I have no customer service. Someday, I'll buy a new rig, but it won't be for a long time. So in the meantime, I just hope I don't lose anything or damage my rig. Justin My Homepage

  6. I can't believe anyone beat Skybytch to this post, considering the title. Unbelievable!

  10. Skybytch is the moderator of the canopy size forum, right? Also, anyone with post-loading of more than 1.1:1 will promptly have extra paragraphs added to their posts for safety. Justin My Homepage
  11. 1) What is the lowest you have intentionally exited an aircraft (i.e. no emergency, fallout etc)? About 1000', but that was static line. 3200' freefall hop-n-pop. 2) What is the lowest you have gone WayLow intentionally (i.e. no loss of altitude awareness) ? 2500'. I'm a novice, so I try not to go too low intentionally. 3) What is the most stupid/dangerous thing you have done in freefall? Losing altitude awareness. 4) What is the closest you have come to killing yourself? Good question. It could have been my tree landing, or the time I scraped a UPS truck in my car doing about 75 in a 15 zone. That was years ago, and I've mellowed a lot since then. 5) What gives you the biggest kick? Skydiving-wise, everything. I'm still learning. 6) How many times have you been grounded? 0 7) How long is the longest grounding N/A 8) What do you get grounded for? N/A 9) Any other comments………………….. Nope.
  12. Since we are talking about diving, I figured I'd throw a link up. http://www.jennandjustin.com/photos-reefex-intro.html It has stories and pictures about Operation Reefex. It was my Army scuba boondoggle. Weirdest thing, swimming down and seeing tanks almost in formation on the ocean floor. Justin My Homepage
  13. Congrats, Tee! My checkout dives weren't in a Canadian lake, but they were in a cold Pennsylvania quarry and we didn't have wetsuits. So I completely understand about the shivering thing. Is your certification Naui, Padi, or something else? Justin My Homepage
  14. There are all sorts of jobs, and you do stand a good chance of getting one in writing. But you have to be patient. When I went to enlist, I told them I wanted a specific military job, and I wanted airborne training. It was airborne journalist (MOS 46Q, I think) or nothing. They told me I could get a $5,000 bonus if I wanted to be a cook. I reiterated exactly what I wanted, and that I'd accept nothing else. They told me it wasn't available. I stood up to leave, and amazingly, it "became" available. I'd just have to wait a few months for a particular slot. No problem. So I signed on the dotted line for my specific job and training. There has been a lot of good info on this thread. I wish I'd had it when I was thinking of enlisting. People have put in so much effort to be open and honest that I won't even start with Air Force or Marine Corps jokes. Justin My Homepage
  15. Joe, Like mwthomsen, I was in the 82d at Bragg. I got there by insisting on Airborne training when I enlisted and being in an unusual job field. In my MOS (Military Occupational Specialty), basically everyone that wanted jump school could get it, and end up at Bragg sooner or later. However, there are no guarantees beyond what is specifically stated when you sign up. Honestly, I wouldn't think too much about the Knights. I've heard it is competitive, and that you can only spend part of your enlistment there anyway, even if you make it. So you better like whatever job you sign up for when you enlist. As to whether you have time for fun-jumping in the military, it depends. You might get stationed somewhere where the nearest DZ is hours (or a continent) away. That would suck, but it could happen. Or you could end up with a mostly 9-5 job at Bragg where you could jump your ass off. You could also get stationed there but be deployed/field training so damned much you still wouldn't be able to jump much. It could go any way. I doubt you are too old to join up. Another thing to think about is the fact that enlisted soldiers don't make squat. You certainly won't join for the money. If that is really important, then forget it. Basically, if you want to serve your country, that's fine. It can provide an educational "character-building" time in your life if you feel like you are in a dead-end. But only do it if you would be willing to spend your whole enlistment far from a DZ with crummy pay. If you are willing to gamble that you might be able to jump, then fine, but don't count on it. 16. Nothing like using the supplies you already have on hand, right? Justin My Homepage
  17. Clay, You're right. There is a choice. But not a sensible one. The cost of proving our case would have been way higher than the cost of the ticket. I checked with a lawyer friend. And there are plenty of things I could do to "get back" at the cop. But why? The satisfaction I might get wouldn't be worth the risk of getting busted for a bigger offense. And it really just isn't worth the time. Justin My Homepage
  18. Most of the time, I like the cops. But sometimes they do things that infuriate me. One night about 6 months ago, an on-duty cop in a cruiser rear-ended my wife. In about 5 minutes, there were like 4 more squad cars there. One of the "impartial" officers wrote the ticket... to my wife. It didn't matter that the cop had been speeding and possibly running without his lights on. They wouldn't give her any insurance information, and sent her on her way without a copy of the accident report. They botched everything from the get-go, and really soured my wife and I on the police for awhile. Luckily, the insurance company was pretty understanding. They seemed to recognize that the cop was doing a "cover your ass" by giving my wife the ticket. If they hadn't, then it would have been considered their fault (which it was), and gone on their record. And as annoying and pure bull as it was, she just paid the ticket. Trying to go to court against a cop with 4 more as "witnesses" would have been hopeless, no matter how justified. So chalk one up for the bad cops this time. They screwed us and there wasn't much of anything we could do. Justin My Homepage
  19. Ouch. Sounds like you rode that mal down way long before you cut away. Sorry things didn't work out for you. Let's hope Viking has some better luck.
  20. Tee, thanks for the link! That is good stuff. I first heard about the mantis in Skydive U. I did 6 Skydive U jumps at Cross Keys about a month ago, but haven't had much chance to follow up. I'm going to try and practice some this weekend. Justin My Homepage
  21. Clay, I never said that you had VD or that you were bitter. I just think that would be the end result of following your advice. And wisdom, like beauty, is subjective. Justin My Homepage
  22. Phree, Thanks for relaying that story. Another thing for me to think about. Justin My Homepage
  23. Viking, Just ignore everything Clay has to say about relationships. Otherwise you'll end up a bitter old single man with lots of venereal diseases. Justin My Homepage
