Before I got my dedicated server, I did sort of what rhuurr is talking about. I had the actual html pages on my ISP's allotted space. Then I put a bunch of images on one Geocities page, some more on another, and sound files on a third. It was clunky and annoying to maintain, but it was free. Doing it that way, as opposed to a completely geocities (or similar) site, is that I didn't have to have pop-up ads or forced banners on my ISP site. Justin My Homepage

Dave, I'm with you on the polypro balaclava. I wear one when it gets really cold. It goes fine under my pro-tec, even if it does make me look like a criminal prone to seizures. BTW, "baklava" is a greek/turkish dessert. Justin My Homepage

Brandon, I use JumpTrack. I wouldn't say it is necessary in any way, but if you are a tech-geek, then go for it. You can get graphs that give you information: http://www.jennandjustin.com/skydive-jumplog-graphjump.asp?jumpindex=63 If you record what you are doing, you can see how different things effect your speed. All I want to do is watch the videos. Is that so much to ask? Zennie's server timed out on me, and Phree's croaked too. I guess too many of my fellow DZ.com'ers are hitting the sites. We ought to work out some sort of plan for this kind of stuff. A lot of us have server space and bandwidth we could share. If we could get the files ourselves , we could put up more mirrors. From everything I've read about owning a DZ, the best thing to do is shoot yourself in the head at the beginning. It is less painful. But if you are a glutton for punishment, go for it. When I get out there some day, I'll jump at your DZ.
