I played the Star Spangled Banner for high school events, and yes, most people don't know the proper way to sing or sometimes even play it...however that leaves a little room for personal expression, but not much...(I played the flute and piccolo, yeah, yeah, I was a flute player......)... I find people who sing it or "scream it" like Tyler to be annoying and I personally find the SSB to be more appealing when sung and played in a "traditional manner"...And yes, there is a "traditional manner" to the song, but obviously that has been debated...
