    What gives?

Sorry, but I don't understand. 1. How do you get out of your rig? 2. How do you get back in? 3. Why??? Blue skies and happy landings!
  2. Y'know, that's the second time I've heard of that in the last few months. The guy who told me about it tried it and it worked for long enough to get his data off of the old drive. Beats me what it does for it but regardless what you do in the future, back up your data now! Blue skies and happy landings!
  3. Likewise but somehow I don't think my 69 year old dad would appreciate sitting on the floor! Blue skies and happy landings!
  4. I did Land's End for a buddy of mine. My criteria were that the company have products that can't be obtained "everywhere" and that they be useful. They sorta seemed to fit the bill. Blue skies and happy landings!
  5. Thanks, Mike. Kinda makes me feel better about being unappreciated when I got back from overseas. Here's to you and everybody else who appreciates the sacrifices of the real men and women of the armed forces... Blue skies and happy landings!
  6. I'm getting ready to do the same with my folks. I'm watching the weather and am waiting to ask them to come visit the DZ until I know it's jumpable. I vote for the first option; they gotta see you do it. If they have the "Whuffo you jump outta a perfectly good airplane" attitude (like my dad), they have to see that it's "perfectly safe." Edited to add: The next time the Caravan's in town I'd like to offer to buy my dad an observer ride. I think he might enjoy watching it, especially once he's seen it up close and personal at ground level. Blue skies and happy landings!

    Going #2 at work

Are you kidding? I've been known to take stink bombs into the can! Blue skies and happy landings!
  8. Just a reminder for all of you to stay safe on the ground in Eloy... Blue skies and happy landings!
  9. Actually, yes. Would you believe that was the first place I thought of? Yikes! Blue skies and happy landings!
  10. That'll be popular at the DZ. Good pick! Blue skies and happy landings!
  11. It's raining. Can you tell? The 12 STIs of Christmas Blue skies and happy landings!
  12. Classic! Blue skies and happy landings!
  13. That would be the time I got turned around when tracking and tracked over someone. After I landed and got to replaying the way I went barrelling by them, I had the jitters for days. My lineover cutaway on my first solo was no problem. This one, though, really messed with my mind. Still jumping, though, and I learned a *lot* from that one. Blue skies and happy landings!
  14. They CSed us in Basic Training so we'd have respect for our chemical protective gear. Stuck us in a little building so full of the stuff there were clouds. We stood around in our protective gear until it was our turn. One at a time, we'd pull of our mask, take a deep breath and holler out our rank, name, social and which unit we were with. It was so think you'd see clouds of it coming out of people's mouths. Some guys weren't phased a bit; the drill sergeants had them do it again and they weren't bothered at all. Me? I couldn't breathe. Nasty stuff and boy did it burn. The pain would finally go away and then you'd scratch yourself through your BDUs and rub your eyes and... Whoop, there it is! Blue skies and happy landings!

    i SHOULD BE NAKED!

Bingo. With my propensity for being hard up, I don't even wear tight pants. I can't imagine walking around naked. And if there were naked women around? They'd better make Phyllis Diller look good if I'm not going to embarrass myself... Blue skies and happy landings!
  16. I'm with you, Angela. I don't know of plans for anyone to go caroling and even around the office the atmosphere is more "business as usual" than holiday cheer. The whole Al Quida thing is getting out of hand, too. (I think they had a hand in the earthquake today. They seem to be suspected in everything else...) It's a bummer that the spirit seems dampened this year. On the bright side, Christmas decorations seem more unique and colorful this year. Blue skies and happy landings!
  17. Check epinions for reviews by ordinary folks to find out what cameras people do and don't like. Blue skies and happy landings!
  18. Just received this e-mail from a friend who lives in Grover Beach and is scheduled for a hysterectomy next month: We now know that our cat is a great early warning system for things like earthquakes. Miss Valentine is still shaking like a leaf. I have never felt anything like it myself, and remember that I was on an upper highrise floor in San Francisco for a major quake there. This one takes the cake. We are fine. Amazingly, nothing broke. Lots of things fell and moved around, but nothing broke, at least that we've found so far. Email working better than phone at the moment, so thought I'd send this message. I'm just glad this didn't happen while my surgeon was operating on me ... Blue skies and happy landings!
  19. USGS spokesman says mountains running south of Cambria/San Simeon may have been pushed up about a foot. Streets in Paso Robles are an absolute mess. No fatalities reported. Blue skies and happy landings!
  20. Talked to friends in Santa Maria. Power's out and the stores are a mess. Listening to a live feed from MSNBC, someone from Cambria called and said Hwy 46 has cracks and is no longer flat (he estimated 6-12" differences in height at some cracks). Templeton has reported a building collapse but I haven't heard anything definite on it. Jewelry store in Paso Robles completely collapsed No news from Diablo nuclear power plant (which sits on the San Andreas fault) 40 aftershocks Edited to add the last snippet. Blue skies and happy landings!
  21. I'm still feeling the aftershocks in Santa Barbara. I'm starting to get seasick! Blue skies and happy landings!
  22. Those of us in the middle of the state always expect earthquakes to hit north and south. This ain't fair! I hope Hearst Castle fares all right. You know stuff was dumped all over the place. It's bound to cost a lot to fix it up again... Blue skies and happy landings!
  23. From the Southern California Earthquake Data Center: The earthquake and aftershocks (30+ already) Specifics on the earthquake Edited to make clicky... Blue skies and happy landings!
  24. Nice to know I'm not the only ratter out there, Kris. Growing up I had some fish for a while (guppies and the like) in a 10 gallon tank and there were always 1-3 miniature poodles cruising around. After I left home I had two boxers, just put down a dachsund, have a 60 gallon aquarium with African cichlids (Malawis for those who care) and last weekend we picked up three rats (will get a fourth soon). Blue skies and happy landings!
