I can relate... after 15 yrs of martial arts, I just can't seem to get my body to want to PLF! Too many years of having aikido style breakfalls drilled into me. My instinct is a forward shoulder roll, which does work, but you get tangled in your lines. So far, I've walked away from every landing, though... even ones that I flared 20 feet too high, and ones that I didnt' flare at all. I really need to keep practicing my PLF, though, because its a much more efficient way to fall with a rig on your back.

Tam Lin. There's a hundred websites out there that talk about it... classic celtic poem, tons of symbolism. EASY to understand because it tells a straightforward story. and... you may want to memorize how to spell "interpret" teachers like that.

get a series of cool photos and make your own!

Not having ID is a totally valid reason for a DZ to turn someone away. Without a photo id, they could be: 1. underage and walking around with someone else's logbook. 2. trying to use someone else's credit card to pay for jumps. 3. of age, but uncurrent, and trying to avoid recurrency problems, so using someone else's logbook. 4. a problem jumper they'd been warned about trying to use someone else's name. without a valid way of identifying someone, it is completely understandable that the DZ won't let them jump.

My instructors have advised me that I would be better off with doing a jump or two as often as I can, even if they are a couple of weeks apart, rather than taking 60 days straight off. I am going to listen to their advice and jump whenever I can.

Put him on trial in the UN. If the US tries him or orchestrates a trial in Iraq, our impartiality is in question.

out here in california, the ACLU went to bat for a christian youth group on my high school campus. the school was trying to say they couldn't hold a prayer meeting during lunch, and the students thought otherwise. ACLU lawyer agreed. School decided rather than battle the ACLU, the club was allowed to meet at lunchtime. The reason the ACLU doesn't typically need to go to bat for christian groups is that: 1. most of the time the christian groups have and prefer their own lawyers. 2. many christian groups are ALREADY given priveledges not granted to others.

Yup. Sounds like a plan, Michele!

Why isn't Angelina on that list? Most of my karate buddies are NUTS over her. -
menorahs and islamic symbols don't belong in public schools either. you either let everything in or nothing.

MICHELE! You're a wonderful, generous, caring person who ANYONE would be priveledged to be able to call a friend. You have an amazing gift with words and always know just the right thing to say when someone's dealing with a tough situation. You phoned me, at the time a complete stranger, and left me the most wonderful phone message when I rode the plane down on my level 2 and was feeling terrible about myself for it. Your phone call helped me get up the courage to go back to the dropzone two days later and try again. I can honestly say that if it weren't for you, I may not have continued to jump. When I got involved in a situation you told me not to get involved in in the first place, you helped me deal with the aftermath without judging me, and didn't even once say "I told you so" even though you had. You shouldn't need to have someone or something make you feel important, because you are important just by being who you are!

I keep seeing the abbreviation S&TA... what's it mean?

I call my friend Sean. He knows exactly what to say and exactly the right way to say it when I'm feeling down. And he has absolutely no ulterior motive to say it. Everyone should have a friend like that.

I love the sky van... I like doing one of those "just run out the back of the plane" exits. I also like a floating exit on the otter.

is that Uly with ya?

are you wearing a camera helmet on an AFF 1?!

well... when I really want a self esteem boost, I'll go into the karate studio and teach a sparring class and jump into the ring with my students. nothing like doing something you know you do well to make you feel better.

its a wonderful book! honestly, it really helped me with my relationship with my dad. He can be very rough and critical, and the book helped me understand that those are HIS issues, and I really don't need to borrow them.

Michele you are such a sweetheart! call me and we'll chat.

I took prevacid for 3 months. didn't do shit. I was one of the unlucky ones who had to try: 1. OTCs 2. Zantac 3. Prilosec 4. Nexium 5. Prevacid 6. Aciphex finally found Aciphex, which worked wonders, and my f-ing insurance company wouldn't pay for it. they wanted to put me back on prevacid even though the doc called them several times and told them it didn't help me! I overheard him SHOUTING at the insurance rep saying "All the medications are NOT the same! That's why there are DIFFERENT ONES!" LOL. Nice to have a doctor who is really a patient advocate. Finally, I switched insurance companies, and my prescription is now covered. I hope you don't have to go through all the shit I did, but now that I found the right medication, life is good, and I can eat pretty much anything I want to, as long as it isn't right before bed.

my guess is she meant Lawyer.
