hehe... me too. I was a goth in high school/most of college. Now, I have to play the professional at work, but I still wear a lot of black, and I LOVE my doc martens.

Only one more level to go...

-
I'd also add: Cock the pilot chute if its a collapsible one. I know a guy at perris who just got his A not too long ago... had two mals in one weekend because he forgot to do this. OUCH!

Learn primarily from your instructors. Ignore what you read here, aside from the personal experiences, which can help you prepare mentally for AFF. Your instructors will teach you everything you need to know about staying safe in the air. There are too many things here that are misleading or just plain wrong. If you read something here that interests you, ASK an instructor about it. That's what they're for. Have fun on your AFF!

well... call her doctor and ask for suggestions. this is what my dad did to his aunt: call the doctor. explain what's going on to the doctor, and make an appointment for her. go over to her place unannounced, tell her you're going out to lunch. once she's in the car and you're driving, tell her you're going out to lunch...right after her doctor's appointment. boy was my great-aunt pissed... for about an hour. when she found out that the cough that was bothering her wasn't a major problem (was just bronchitis and easily fixed with antibiotics) she was quite relieved, and all was forgiven, and a nice lunch was had by all. best of luck!!!!

If she's flying out of LAX, you can try this: drive to lot C. Park there, and take the free shuttle over to the terminal. They are handicapped accessable and will help with wheelchairs and the like, if she has a chair. They drop you off right in front of the terminal, so there shouldn't be too much walking involved. If you take less than two or three hours, parking at lot C is free. Best of luck, and I hope your mom feels better!!!! (((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))) and {{{{{{{{{{{{{VIBES}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Money is one of the main reasons I'm not teaching anymore. The other two reasons are politics and parents who think that no matter if I sent home eight progress reports and made ten phone calls home in a nine week long quarter, and their kid continues to refuse to do homework or classwork, somehow its still MY fault that he fails. I spent more time babysitting than actually teaching. Now, I teach martial arts, and if little Johnny doesn't want to participate, he can sit his tail down in the corner until he's ready to rejoin the class. Money is one of the main reasons I'm applying to law school. The others are a genuine interest in the law, and a genuine desire to help people. Am I in it for the money? Hell yes! but I'm also in it for personal satisfaction, and there's no law that says your job can't be profitable AND personally rewarding. And yes, I've done some internships and some law clerk stuff, so I do know what I'm getting into, and, I'm looking forward to it.

I got some cool stuff... a sewing machine from my parents jump money from my grandmother and my friend christopher told me he's going to pay for two days of gear rental for me, so I can finish my A license! (one day of gear for birthday, one day for christmas).

it fits. I have the same helmet and both protrack and prodytter fit fine.

can you post some samples of other things you've done?

virtually every movie out there is filmed at least in part somewhere else. If you want to boycott movies that are filmed outside the US, boycott every single major movie. The US is becoming more and more industrialized. It is VERY difficult to find large open spaces that permit filming. Getting permits to film on government land, especially a national park, which contain a lot of the wide open spaces that are left, is extraordinarily difficult.

a gift certificate for a day at the spa for her, a friend, and her mother. or, do something really cool, like buy tickets for you and her to go to an amusement park or something. something that lets her spend TIME with you.

Nightingale hangs her head and mourns the kittens.... You can't tease the gentlemen like that, Kat! Think of the kittens!!!!! -
mine's down to my waist. when it gets so I can sit on it, I cut the bottom couple of feet off and send it off to locks of love. my hair's still so long that most people don't even notice I cut it! LOL.

Billvon for the rantoul save. Michele for her wonderful encouragement of newbies and Skybytch for trying so hard to keep us all on appropriate sized canopies!

I don't have a tree. I have two kittycats who would find it WAY too much temptation, plus I'm not dragging a big tree upstairs all by myself, and a little tree kinda defeats the purpose, yes? so, I have a yummy smelling wreath instead from Trader Joe's that makes my apartment smell like christmas trees, and its well out of kitty reach.

contact the department of housing and urban development (HUD) for information. At least, that's what its called in california. dunno bout elsewhere. And then, if you still like what you hear, contact a real estate lawyer to explain to you exactly what you're getting in to. Once you are armed with all that knowledge, then attend the auction. I have seen people really happy with the way things turned out for them, and I've also seen people take major financial blows because of it. It can be a really good thing, but a really bad thing too. just be careful.

A thought for Newbies Giving Advice
Nightingale replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
an excellent point. The experienced folks on this forum are very good about pouncing on misinformation. If everyone is encouraged to post, not so much advice but a "this is what I would do in that situation" post, then everyone has the opportunity to learn. The person posting what they would do has the chance to get feedback from more experienced folks as well. -
oh... someone asked me to define what I meant by issue... for example, if someone posts an attachment that is NSFW and doesn't mark it as such, you can report to mod so they know about it. It can also be used to report a technical problem, or someone being outrageously rude.
