  1. Right on. I wouldn't borrow gear from a friend OR a gear store that I couldn't afford to replace if I chopped. I'd have to charge it, but I could do it. You don't want to be up there thinking "I can't chop because I can't afford the repack or if I lose the canopy or freebag..." You should not put yourself in a situation where finances help you make a life or death decision. If you can't afford to replace it, don't jump it. If you do lose it, you'd better replace it. I've had TWO friends borrow my car and crash it. My reaction: "Are you ok?" when the answer was "yes" my next question was "is my car ok?" When the answer was "no" I didn't even have to ask them to get it repaired. They simply asked the name of the shop I would like it towed to (Solesbee Automotive in Yorba Linda, please) and said they would cover the bill. AND they even covered a rental car for me during the few days my car was out of commission... all without me even having to ask . now THAT'S a friend.
  2. it should be your friend's responsibility to replace the canopy.
  3. its beautiful, but it does look like an engagement ring. I can't see the stone real well from the picture, though.
  4. Well, I had all of my AFF instructors at Perris tell me to get some good, solid RW skills before moving on to freeflying. I enjoy RW, and freeflying sounds intriguing, but it can wait a while.
  5. LOL... so true... I would LOVE to date a guy who knew how to swing dance, or even better, would go to lessons with me.

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor. PltSgt MITCHELL PAIGE Medal of Honor 1942 2/7/1 Solomon Islands The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the MEDAL OF HONOR to PLATOON SERGEANT MITCHELL PAIGE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS for service as set forth in the following CITATION: "For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous gallantry in action above and beyond the call of duty while serving with the Second Battalion, Seventh Marines, First Marine Division, in combat against enemy Japanese forces in the Solomon Islands Area on October 26, 1942. When the enemy broke through the line directly in front of his position, Platoon Sergeant Paige, commanding a machine-gun section with fearless determination, continued to direct the fire of his gunners until all his men were either killed or wounded. Alone, against the deadly hail of Japanese shells, he manned his gun, and when it was destroyed, took over another, moving from gun to gun, never ceasing his withering fire against the advancing hordes until reinforcements finally arrived. Then, forming a new line, he dauntlessly and aggressively led a bayonet charge, driving the enemy back and preventing a break through in our lines. His great personal valor and unyielding devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service." FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT
  7. what got me into researching Bush's environmental policies was his plan to open the Arctic to drilling and logging. he and his administration are loosening environmental regulations regarding logging, drilling, and endangered species protection across the board.

  10. lol. California. VERY high cost of living, and sucky job market.
  11. Soft contacts only. Never, Ever do anything that you could get hit in the face wearing rigid contact lenses (hard lenses or gas permeable lenses). I know two martial artists who are blind in one eye because of impacts while wearing rigid contacts. Could be the same if you get kicked in RW or have a bad landing. if you wear rigid contact lenses, please be very careful and consider a full face helmet.
  12. well, I guess he's figuring that he's loosening a lot of the environmental restrictions, so sooner or later, we'll have to go somewhere else, and the moon and mars are as good options as any.
  13. you have two options, trainwise, from norwalk. a 4:41, and a 5:46. I ride the 4:41 myself. You pick up the "Green Line Shuttle" at LAX. There is also a green line station at the corner of Nash St. and El Segundo Bl, if you prefer, but the shuttle is easier. Take the shuttle to the Aviation Street Green Line station. Get on the green line. Take the green line to the 605/105 stop (end of the line) and take the "Metrolink Shuttle" to the Norwalk metrolink station. Take either the 4:41 or the 5:46 metrolink train. Do not take the train that shows up between those two times. It goes to Irvine, and I don't want to drive down there to go get you! LOL. Get off the train in West Corona, which is about a mile from where I live. I'll give you a lift the remaining 40 miles to Perris. Taking the green line and shuttles will take time. Sometimes they all show up right away and it takes 30 minutes from LAX to Norwalk. Other times, it can take two hours. Public transportation here is not nearly as reliable as it is elsewhere. Give yourself plenty of time and bring a good book.
  14. 1. Locate Mule. 2. Train mule to not be afraid of freeway traffic. 3. Trek along the shoulder of the 5 freeway, south, til it intersects the 91 freeway in Buena Park, CA. 4. proceed with above driving directions.
  15. oh... if you don't have the car thing covered: Take the bus from LAX to the green line. Take the greenline East to Norwalk. Take the bus from the green line to the metrolink station. Catch the 91 line Metrolink train (will say "Riverside" on it.) Get off the train at the West Corona station. Call me to come get you and take you to Perris.
  16. Best way to get from Marina Del Rey to Perris. Sepulveda south to the 105 Freeway 105 freeway East to the 605 Freeway South 605 South to the 91 East (stay on 91 for a LONG time) 91 East to the 215 South 215 South, exit D street Take D street south til it dead ends, turn left on 11th street (turns into Case Rd.) Turn Right on Goetz Road. Perris Valley will be on your left.
  17. I take aciphex every day. Tried Prevacid. Tried Prilosec. Tried Nexium. Tried Zantac. none of em did jack. Aciphex works for me, but if I eat something I shouldn't, sometimes I can still have problems. I have to watch out for greasy foods, and foods with high acid to begin with, like orange juice or coffee.
  18. um... I hope that last was addressed to Kramer, not me, since those were his legs in the picture.
  19. its more like the job market in california just kinda sucks right now, so most of them are going back to school. I'm going to school too. I'm just holding down a full time job and keeping my own apartment while I do it. Its harder, but its easier than living with my parents! We get along, but we get along a lot better when I'm not living there.
  20. RICE: REST ICE COMPRESSION (Ace Bandage) ELEVATION Go to the doctor. Get x-rays. make sure you didn't break anything. Then, follow doctor's orders. If its a sprain, STAY OFF IT! Use the crutches, or the air cast, or whatever they give you, and obey them to the letter. I didn't. It took six months of physical therapy to undo the damage I did by walking on a sprain. Caused a buildup of scar tissue that reduced flexibility, and I'm a martial artist and a dancer. Had I been on crutches for a few weeks instead of jamming my foot into toe shoes three days later, I would not have had to shell out all that cash (insurance didn't cover it) or waste all that time with physical therapy. Ignore all that shit about "working through the pain" if it hurts, your body is telling you something. Listen, and obey.
  21. I'm 25 and usually date older guys, simply because most guys my age are still living with their parents. Not that that's a bad thing, but I've been on my own for five years now, supporting myself, and they've never had to do that. That seems to cause a huge difference in maturity level.
