    Jack- you're going to hear this over and over and over, and you're not going to believe it, but keep saying it to yourself until you do believe it, because its the truth: ITS NOT YOUR FAULT. There is nothing you could have done to prevent what happened, so please, try not to look back into the past searching for things you should've noticed, because there is nothing there. All you can do now is thank the powers that be that you were able to help him in time, and concentrate on getting help, not only for him, but for yourself, your daughter, and the rest of your family too. I know you said you were planning on seeing a counselor, and that is one of the best things you can do, for your whole family!     sure, regulation sucks. but, because most of the injuries and fatalities are canopy control related, its getting to the point that the USPA needs to regulate it, or the FAA will do it, and we probably won't like the FAA's version of regulation.

    Personally, I'd advise flying. Southwest has been pretty good about rigs, from what I've heard, and I flew to vegas a few weeks ago from Ontario for $59.00. I checked the greyhound and they're $38.00 from Vegas to Los Angeles. Direct only. You can't get off in San Bernardino, you have to go two hours past and get off in LA. Then, you'd have to either: 1. find a ride from downtown LA to the DZ, or 2. take the train to san bernardino or riverside, and then find someone to come get you. Either way, a pain in the arse.

    wasn't skydiving related, but yes. To this day, she still doesn't speak to me, but she's alive, so I'm okay with that.

    if all DZs were under the same requirements, like they are for the A license, you wouldn't have had that issue with your canopy. You'd either have not gotten it in the first place, or you'd have a letter/waiver from your instructors saying you're competent, and therefore permitted.

    also remember that for every person who posts something here, there are many more who read your post and are thinking of you and your family, but just aren't quite sure what to say.

    since they specified that the restrictions could be waivered by an instructor or S&TA, if you're a good canopy pilot, you'd have nothing to fear.

    your response was to me, and I have more than 5 jumps, thanks. It seemed like she was just looking at the camera for fun, so it looked like coaching might benefit her more in the long run. that was just my take on it. Again, she did not just ask for camera flyers and coaches to respond. it was an open question. anyone could answer her, and she can pick and choose who she wants to listen to. There was no need to be rude.

    dumb question... if you're getting the camera just for you on solos, how are you going to film yourself to see what you're doing??
