Release him to the new government, once the country is relatively stabilized, and let the government try him according to the new constitution for crimes against the Iraqi people.

A way to sort events by DZ or by state would be useful as well. -
Gun Shop Guilty in Child's Shooting Death?
Nightingale replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
bout the only way the gun shop should be responsible is if they sold it to the man KNOWING full well that he was going to re-sell on the black market. -

There are kids out at Perris all the time. the DZ even has a swing set for them. I don't mind kids at the DZ, provided either a parent or a sitter is with them at all times. Otherwise, its damned dangerous to have unsupervised little ones running about when there are planes and runways and swoopers and nobody to keep the kids out of harm's way. Two weeks ago, the plane had to abort a landing because there was a kid on the runway. At least, I think it was a kid. I would hope adults have enough sense to stay out of the way of a landing plane, but who the heck knows.

Suppose Abortion becomes illegal..what then?
Nightingale replied to Bodyflight.Net's topic in Speakers Corner
OC prevents ovulation. The reason you have a period at all when you're on the pill is because stopping the hormone pills makes you bleed. Got nothing to do with whether or not you ovulate. -
I've seen the ad on hotmail too.

Suppose Abortion becomes illegal..what then?
Nightingale replied to Bodyflight.Net's topic in Speakers Corner
My cousin has diabetes. She was diagnosed only a few months before the rape, and her disease wasn't under control very well at that point. Pregnancies for pre-teens are dangerous simply because a twelve year old is a lot smaller than a 15 or 16 year old. Sure, "back in the day" a lot of 12 year olds got pregnant... and a lot of them died in childbirth. -

if it was your daughter, what would you have her do? -

The baby was completely innocent and didn't ask for that situation... my cousin was ALSO completely innocent and didn't ask for that situation. -

Personally, I'd never have an abortion unless my life was in great danger, and even then, I'd think long and hard. I've made my choice. I'm not going to advocate taking away others' ability to choose for themselves. I'm not pro-abortion, but I am pro-choice. Here's another scenario: My step-cousin was raped when she was TWELVE. She got pregnant. Carrying a baby to term at age 12 isn't healthy. Its dangerous medically, especially for my cousin, who is diabetic. Can you imagine what it would do emotionally and socially. Can you imagine what people would say to her, especially if they weren't privy to the whole story? What would you "pro-life" folks tell her to do? And no, I'm not going to tell you what my cousin did. That's her story to tell. What she's said I can tell you is that she and her parents made their decision after consulting with their pastor and parish priest, and acted accordingly. Oh... and for those of you who were advocating that a man should need to sign a consent form before a woman could have an abortion, what if the situation was a rape? Would a woman still be required to have her rapist sign a consent form?? Ideally, my take is "make your choice before you have sex. If you don't want kids, don't make choices that can cause them." However, we do not live in an ideal world, and everyone is not granted the opportunity to "choose" if they will have sex. I have made my choice, and I will not tell others how to make theirs. I'm not in their shoes, and therefore, I do not have the right to decide for them. I only hope they make their decision with careful consideration of ALL options and consequences. -
My instructor goes head to head with local grapplers/BJJ on a regular basis. The grapplers are the ones who end up bloody. they keep coming back to OUR school because they want to learn what he has to teach them. Kenpo works. Its saved my life.
-
I wasn't talking about NHB/UFC stuff. UFC, which is the main No Holds Barred (but it really isn't) is very much geared towards having grapplers as winners, since the strikers can't use most of their arsenal. Most kenpoists don't bother entering UFC because the rules are so stacked against strikers. As my instructor puts it: "what the hell would I want to roll around on the ground with another guy for? just hit him and be done with it!" UFC is a waste of time for anyone who isn't a grappler. I was referring to main martial arts open tourneys with sport karate "sparring". Recent Kenpoists who've kicked ass: Ryan Huntley Jamie Matthews Tara VanDeusen These are just off the top of my head, but you can google the names, I'm sure.

American Kenpo is more chinese than japanese... encorporates circular motion, joint locks, soft tissue targets. In a very basic explanation, Mr. Parker took the kenpo he was taught by William K.S. Chow and brought it to the mainland of the US, and adapted it to American streetfighting. So, while the basics (punches, kicks, strikes) are traditional, the way they're used is unique to Parker Kenpo.

Help? Someone who knows about group and individual health insurance...
Nightingale replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
in California, health insurance options are up to the school district, or school or diocese, in the case of private and parochial schools. Lew, you teach at a private school now, yes? -
Yep. Bill "SuperFoot" Wallace. Larry Tatum ran the Parker school for Ed Parker for many years. He's one of those guys who you see across the room and then he's hit you like a ton of bricks before you even saw him move. Damned amazing.

Another example of Republican abuse of power and cencorship
Nightingale replied to PhillyKev's topic in Speakers Corner
why should newspapers be tax exempt? they're a business. -
Jeff's a nice guy. I've met him at a couple of tournaments. He can MOVE. Bill Wallace is another... I think probably the best kenpoist around right now, though, is Larry Tatum.
-
One of the things I like about kenpo. We train for the street. Tourneys are a very distant second. Ironically, kenpoists tend to dominate open tourneys.

That was the most awful experience of my life. I was having CONSTANT heartburn. Bad, awful, doubled over in pain heartburn. And I couldn't see a damn doctor. My regular doc had already done what she could (prilosec, nexium, etc...) and said I needed to see a gastroenterologist, since the ER had already ruled out a cardiac issue. Three freakin' weeks of constant heartburn. Three freakin' weeks of sleeping in a chair because I couldn't lay down because that made it worse and eating nothing but bread because that was about the only thing that wouldn't make it worse. Two freakin' weeks of waiting for the insurance paperwork. One week waiting from the time I was allowed to make the appointment until they had a slot available to see me. Then, the doc looks at my test results, switches my medication, and I haven't had heartburn since, as long as I stay on the meds. Its sad when someone can tell a doctor "I have the means to pay you. You can even see my bank statements if you wish. PLEASE, see me!" and they refuse because your insurance might not cover it.
-
most doctors will not see you if you say you don't have insurance. I couldn't even get a specialist to make an appointment with me without an insurance referral. Me: if the insurance doesn't refer in time, I'll pay cash. Secretary: sorry. we can't schedule appointments without insurance authorizations. Me: I need to see a specialist. Like tomorrow. I'm in a lot of pain. Her: sorry. its policy. *click*

LOL! Well, if you've been official navigator on family road trips since you were 8, on account of your mother being map-impaired, and your dad likes to take long drives across the country, you get pretty good at knowing where everything's at.
