  1. I like his stance on the environment, specifically the ANWR. I like his ideas for funding education. I like that he believes Ashcroft has encouraged the violation of civil liberties, and that he plans to rectify this problem. I like that he supports completely lifting the ban on gays in the military. I like his support for civil unions. I like his stance against discrimination based on sexual orientation. I like that he supports a woman's right to choose. I like that he has stated he will only appoint pro-choice judges to the supreme court.
  2. I don't care either way. I think the election will be run just fine, so whether the UN is watching or not would be irrelevant.
  3. the post addressed the portrayal of skydiving by the media, which recently (King of the Hill, and some news reports) has been pretty bad. we don't want people to perceive our sport as more dangerous than it really is. that's what I was talking about. I don't give a damn who wants to start what club or why.
  4. because if we have a really bad name, the government is going to want to regulate us.
  5. oh... and if they go to Maui, take the Trilogy tour. Catamaran over to Lanai, snorkeling, lots of fun!
  6. all my suggestions are in this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1100872;search_string=napali;#1100872
  7. if that is seen by park security, they will be removed from the park.
  8. disney does have a guest dress code, but its basically the "shirts and shoes must be worn" thing, along with nothing rude printed on clothing. No bikini tops for women, and no "costume like apparral" like cloaks/capes and fishnet stockings.
  9. if someone complains, disney can and WILL escort people out of the park if they are a "detriment to the family atmosphere of Disneyland". They don't much care about couples, gay or straight, holding hands or kissing, but much more than that will get almost anyone booted out of the park if someone sees.
  10. that's pretty normal for the simpsons. the show's basically a political satire.
  11. disney as a corporation tends to be very conservative. I used to work for their casting office in Anaheim, and that was my experience.
  12. I'll be there at least one day.
  13. you need to check your HIV facts. Many HIV positive people, especially in Africa, have been infected by their spouses. Many in Asia have been infected by their government. Children have been infected because their mother was HIV positive when they were born. People have gotten HIV from blood transfusians, from cheating partners who promised monogamy, and from other sources. It's been transmitted to health care workers from accidental needle sticks. it isn't just something someone can catch from "whoring around."
  14. I don't care who anybody else wants to marry as long as they're adult and consenting. Period. oh... I think my cats want to be pets. They've gotten outside. They always come home of their own choice. I don't have to chase them.
  15. I would draw the line in a situation where either or both parties are not consenting or are not adults or both. Oh... as for the goldfish argument, an animal is not capable of providing consent. beyond that, I don't really care who marries who.
  16. Get involved. It doesn't always have to be about the goal, and you can learn an awful lot through osmosis on "fun" jumps. GEt together with a local organizer and go on some 6, 7, 8, way type stuff. It might not be the most sucessfull jump, but it will be fun, and it will teach you something. I do learn a little from each jump, but I feel like I could learn more if I had one particular skill to focus on at that time. I don't want to be debriefed all the time, I just want a skill set to work on rather than to just have my goal to be "be a better flyer". I need to know how. *** Next time you see me at Perris, lets make a load. We'll grab 2 or 3 others that wanna have some fun, slap on the grippers, and go. When all is said and done, you'll probably walk away knowing just a little more, but also having had a GREAT day. And sometimes THAT'S what it's all about. ok! lets do it. I'll be at Perris on the 24th.
  17. I'd like to, but I don't really know the beginnings of how exactly to do all that, and fumbling around in the sky with another newbie who doesn't know either probably isn't going to help much. I finally stopped going to two way camps, because it seems like all we ever did was chase each other in circles around the sky, getting absolutely nowhere. It's like two white belts trying to teach each other how to spar. I'd like to pay a coach, but that's a little pricey, and I'm saving up for canopy school, which is probably more important. I wish I just had a list of stuff that I could bug better jumpers about once in a while. In karate, I had my technique chart, and I would pester a higher ranking student every so often to show me something on the chart. I knew exactly what I didn't know, so I knew what to ask about. With skydiving, I feel kinda lost.
  18. Frankly, I don't care what anyone else wants to do in their bedroom, provided all parties are consenting, adult humans.
  19. I'm trying... but I don't know what I need to learn. heck, nobody even told me Mantis existed til I randomly went to a 2 way camp it'd be nice if we had some kind of skill progression written out, like for the A license, listing stuff like mantis, centerpoint turns and such. something to tell us what to do next.
  20. Yes! and its made me feel completely lost after I got my A. I see people doing 4 way, and look at myself and say "I want to be there!" but have absolutely no clue how to get there, what I need to learn, and where to start.
  21. did you read the whole article? he had a paragraph in there bashing Edwards too.
  22. Marriage SHOULD have nothing to do with the government at all. But as long as it does, it needs to be open to all citizens, gay or not. People object to a gay wedding being called a marriage. fine. call it a civil union, but call everyone else's a civil union in the eyes of the government. As the supreme court has stated, separate but equal isn't equal. Give everyone equal rights, not special rights. Its your union. call it whatever you like. it has nothing to do with me. nor does anyone else's union have anything to do with either of us.
