  1. Ontario Airport is closer, but its easier to catch public transportation from LAX. couple of options: Greyhound will cost you $10.50. From Los Angeles to Perris. Getting there is a trick, though: Public Transit: Customer wishing to use local transit can connect to a free shuttle bus from LAX terminals to Metrorail. From the shuttle bus, board a Green line train at the Aviation-105 station, transfer to a Blue Line train at Rosa Parks Station, and exit downtown at Metro Center, Seventh and Flower streets. (Be sure to purchase a "One Way With Transfer" ticket at the rail station, or you will need to purchase a second one-way ticket upon transfer to the Blue Line.) Outside Metro Center along 7th Street, transfer to a #60 bus eastbound to Greyhound Lines' terminal at 1716 E. 7th Street. Call (800) COM-MUTE for information. Shared Ride: Super Shuttle provides shared ride service to and from the Greyhound terminal. Call (800) 258-3826 for information. The greyhound drops you off on 4th street in Perris, which isn't too far from the DZ. Train: 1. take the shuttle from the airport to the Green line. 2. Take the Green Line to the Norwalk Metrolink station 3. Take Metrolink to West Corona 4. Take the Lake Elsinore bus (206 CommuterLink)to Elsinore. It drops off at the Elsinore Outlets. The Metro 22 bus from the Lake Elsinore outlet center goes to the city of Perris and drops off not too far from the DZ.
  2. my comments weren't directed at you. you were just the last poster.
  3. some teachers specifically request to work at problem schools or with problem kids. However, most don't want to, which is fine, because it takes a special kind of person to be able to succeed in that situation, and if you're not that person, there's nothing wrong in saying so.
  4. I just pointed out that "um...Anakin's only four years old. I don't think he's eligible to vote." They just said ok, apologized, and hung up, so perhaps a few other pet owners will get some amusing phone calls before they figure it out. LOL.
  5. LOL. I keep getting solicitation phone calls from the republican party. One actually asked to speak to "Mr. Anakin Koenig" the thing is... Anakin's my CAT! I guess they must've bought the list from the vet's microchip registry or something.
  6. 0:3:0 three hop n pops. The first one to avoid wasting a perfectly good packjob and get my rig unpacked so I could hook up the PD 176 reserve I was demoing. 2 more jumps on the 176, 2 stand up landings. hmm... maybe I should try jumping a 7 cell. it seems I can land it for some strange reason. LOL
  7. It flies and lands wonderfully. required a bit more toggle input to turn, and was more docile than my silhouette, which is just fine. I had two stand up landings out of two jumps, and I usually don't land on my feet. LOL.
  8. The people who loaned me the gear told me not to take it to terminal. it was their gear, so I did as they requested.
  9. no, not a cutaway. I borrowed square 1's PD 176 reserve, set up as a main. I had two great hop n pops with it. It's set up to open fast (slider with a hole cut into it), so jumping it at terminal would've been a bad idea. Course, this ended up resulting in a hop n pop from 8,000 feet, because of traffic below. Normally, I'd have had a bit of a skydive and pulled at normal altitude, but since I was instructed not to take this canopy to terminal, I pulled right away and had a nice long canopy ride where I got to play with it. It flew beautifully, and I stood up both landings. The PD reserve is a beautiful canopy, and I feel a lot more secure now that I've flown it. If you haven't hooked up a canopy that matches your reserve as a main, and you've never had a cutaway, seriously think about demoing a reserve as a main. It makes a ton of difference in your confidence in your gear. Square 1 didn't even charge me to jump the canopy.
  10. your advice is right on for smaller companies.
  11. August 14, tentatively. The vet said it should take 7-10 days to get her ashes back.
  12. If I support a candidate, chances are they've gotten a check from me at some point.
  13. could you post it here? I fly a silhouette, but have never flown a navigator. I'm a little curious.
  14. I did. My own contribution hasn't shown up yet, but I just made it last week. The list isn't extremely current.
  15. Probably. My IQ tested at 156 when I was in college, and I'd said as much in another thread. I was an aide in the psychology department, and when the profs needed someone to administer a test to as a sample, they liked to pick on me, because I was usually around running the computer lab. The damn test took a long time and I was really nervous knowing it was a sample for the students. but heck, I got paid for it. I believe it was the WAIS-III (Wechsler) test.
  16. ROFL! My Cat's name is Indiana! as a little kitten, the first hour that I had him, he climbed all the way to the top of the staircase, jumped over the stairs into the living room rafters, and found himself stuck 15' off the ground. my landlord had to go get a ladder, scruffed the kitten, said "C'mon, Indiana Cat" and put him in his pocket for the climb down, and the name stuck. the other cat is Anakin. I fully anticipate him going over to the dark side one day.
  17. hmmm... I find Elsinore WAY more scary than Perris. I guess everyone's got their preferences, tho.
  18. 1. The Princess Bride 2. Braveheart 3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 4. Raiders of the Lost Ark 5. Spaceballs
  19. I will be picking Icarus up from Cyndi tomorrow or saturday and taking her to the vet for cremation. It takes about two weeks. I need a list of everyone who wants in on the ash dive, so I know who to notify when we schedule it.
  20. oooh.... neat website! thanks much!
  21. sure, the USA has more killings, if you're comparing it to contries in Europe... thing is, we've also got a lot more people. to get an accurate comparison, you'd have to look at percentages rather than numbers.
