with the state of the world, it probably won't be just six months. Every reservist I know out here has been called up and is serving active duty.
-
depends on how bad the break is.

your handle is stuck in velcro. even if there's no loop attached on the other end because the RSL or CYPRES deployed your reserve, the handle will stay stuck til you pull it off the velcro.

Should students be allowed to use audibles?
Nightingale replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
might be a good thing, if they're set for the hard deck only, so the students don't rely on them. I set my audible low now, most of the time, so I don't rely on it. sometimes, if you're freaking out or zoning out, hearing something can knock you back into reality. -
I love my silhouette. Great openings, flies great, easy to pack. Its been a wonderful first canopy. In about 50 jumps I've put on it, I've only had line twists once, and it was from my own lousy body position. No other problems, ever. I've heard it called "PD's best kept secret."

unless you really move a lot, buy. you're at least building equity with your money, and unless the market's crazy high when you buy, you can probably sell for as much or more than you paid for it. Plus, a home loan builds your credit, while renting doesn't.

drop me a PM if you like, and I'll put you in touch with my best pal Sean who'd be happy to tell you both the good and bad of being an enlisted marine. if you're married, though, definitely have a long heart to heart with your wife and see how she'd feel about you shipping out to war. Its something that's killed a lot of marriages, so she'd need to be behind you 100%.

Get a lawyer. I used to lease in california. Companies will go after you for this, because "normal wear and tear" is ambiguous.
-
LAX isn't bad either. You can get to Perris from either airport using public transportation. LAX just takes longer.

it really depends on your teacher. go to www.martialtalk.com and you can ask the kung fu guys there to help you find a teacher in your area, and do some research into other styles if you wish. me, I'm partial to kenpo. You have to pick a style that works for you. Pick an instructor you're comfortable with. Beware of any school that: promises a black belt in a certain amount of time tries to rope you into a contract immediately charges more than about $100 a month has a lot of five to ten year old black belts running around.

red ink scares kids......give me a break
Nightingale replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
when I was teaching, I always used green instead of red. It was just easier on my eyes. -
Its actually a really pretty canopy, if the buyer doesn't mind some pink... Pink Pink White Teal Teal Teal White Pink Pink

I have a silhouette 190 I'm thinking of selling. It has about 800 jumps on it, and got a new line set less than 100 jumps ago. Good condition. a patch or two where the twigs at elsinore snagged the topskin. dom 1999. I have no idea what I should ask for it. I've seen pricing formulas for ZP and for F-111, but the silhouette is a hybrid canopy so I don't know what category it fits in, if any. Anyone got any ideas?

How many protesters were PAID to be there?
Nightingale replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
there's probably no good way to know. probably not many. I know that all my new york friends and family are protesting at one point or another. I also know a few people who are flying in to protest. None are being paid. Why pay people to protest when people will do it for free? -
I don't think it will affect the election results much... most people who are going to vote have already decided. This election has been incredibly polarized for a long time. Most people who will be watching either convention are watching it either because they support the candidate and want to hear more, or are wanting to know what the other side's up to. People that are politically motivated enough to watch the convention made up their minds months ago.

my first jump on a spectre I damn near chopped because it took so long to open. I had my hands on the cutaway handle and was just thinking "peel..." and it opened.

With the way Bush treated me (and his own staff!) when I met him (he was speaking at my school when he was seeking the republican nomination the first time around), I would never allow the man in my living room. He was demanding and rude. Wasn't so much what he said as how he said it. Orders rather than requests, even for a glass of water.

sometimes, its simply a logistics issue. If a lot of people are expected for a memorial service, many times its best to have an open memorial service for anyone who wishes to pay their respects, and a private funeral for close friends and family to say their goodbyes. Its a fairly common practice, and if it's what her family wants, that's what they should do.
