  1. I'm trying to justify having digital music stations on my cable and getting XM too... but no 5.1 on the cable stations... I'm surprised I'm even awake right now - we were up to 2 AM putting it all together and testing the levels - boy, it sounds amazing. Listened to Peter Gabriel this morning - wow! I think I'll go home and get drunk just listening to tunes Jen Arianna Frances
  2. ooh Dave, you just gave me a great idea! Ives, I must test the new system with the Charles Ives 1 & 4 Symphonies CD I 're-found' last night! Ooh, I don't even like Ives all that much, but I might if its in 5.1 surround Funny you should mention Charlie Parker - we were just saying we should pick up one of his on vinyl soon. I have a CD, but vinyl and Jazz were just meant to go together
  3. So I've spent alot of money this year on skydiving... way too much actually. My husband on the other hand stood by idle while I spent all our money Tonight that all changed, as we walked into Tweeter center (a high level electronics store) and walked out with a brand new Bose home entertain speaker system, a Yamaha XM Ready AV receiver ampli-tuner (audio/video) and lots of cabels and brackets. WOo HoO!! Our living room is now the mecca of home audio. With our new DVD-Audio player and turntable I never have to leave the comforts of my house to listen to good music. I'll be having dreams about this system for the next month. Even the sales guy said he'd never seen anyone as excited as me in the showroom before (ok, so it was his second day, but I'll take it as a compliment ). Gonna put on some Miles Davis soon - followed by the portishead CD I just bought. Everyone's welcome to come over for a listen, just don't step on the cats Jen Arianna Frances
  4. Ditto... I had to come here to find out I could actually do something after tandems Jen Arianna Frances
  5. Practice. Practice. Practice. It gets better. Jen Arianna Frances
  6. I've been doing alot more weight training for my upper body since starting skydiving - not really sure if its helping yet, but can't be hurting. Yoga is definitely a plus! I find I have to do alot of stretching after a weekend at the DZ. Jen Arianna Frances
  7. Its actually the Sphynx cat. http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/sphynx.html Jen Arianna Frances
  8. There is no exam for the A license in the US now. mdrejhon is not from the US. Jen Arianna Frances
  9. : 9 : 1 3 totally cool 4-way jumps on Saturday... I think I know what I'm doing next season 4 2-ways with Tracy. 1 3-way with her and Boxman (hehe fun!). 1 12k hop n pop to finish off the weekend. I don't think I could have spent the weekend in a more fun way. I love this Jen Arianna Frances
  10. Come to Jumptown. The weather is looking good for tomorrow - as we're getting the rain out of the way now I see your a free flyer. We've got some AMAZING freeflyers at JTown who will jump with you - and some up and comers who are always looking for folks to jump with. If your interested in RW - Boxman is back load organizing this weekend. Lots of packing area and the otter gets loads up fast. It'll be busy this weekend If you see me - say 'hi!". SAMBUCA!

I love the stuff - my dad got me hooked Its a bit of an aquired taste though Jen Arianna Frances
  13. I love my whuffo very much - but we were married before I started skydiving and he supports me and is very proud of me. Without his support I wouldn't be skydiving. I think thats a large part of the difference when dating whuffo's - the support. Jen Arianna Frances
  14. The tunnel in NH is supposed to be ready in February (famous last words) - have a feeling that will be whats closest to you. Otherwise, tix from the north east to FL were dirt cheap this past winter. The only down side is that its difficult to get 'last minute' tunnel time in Orlando due to over seas groups coming over for training etc. Plan ahead. Tunnel time is great for training. The last time I was in Orlando I saw a guy that was EASILY 350 lbs. in there. Granted, he didn't have much room, but he was there. Jen Arianna Frances
  15. heh I've got 2 people on AIM - my hubby and a kid I work with. My score is a big fat 0 Arianna Frances

  17. You can still get vinyl - we buy records all the time, new stuff too Jen Arianna Frances
  18. A band releases a new set of songs, on cd (or my current fav, DVD-Audio) or MP3, or vinyl or whatever. Would you call it their new album or their new record? I'm trying to settle a dispute with the old guys at work Jen Arianna Frances
  19. DZ.com is special in that way - the only credability someone has is their license number or dropzone, so its needed. Granted AggieDave's been here a while and everyone knows him, so its not needed in his case. When someone uses that information its called Blackmail - which can be a crime. Its happened to me, I hope to god it doesn't happen to you. You won't know a sense of insecurity until your employers are called and your SS# is stolen - things that ARE NOT found on the internet in your profile unless someone is looking for them. But if it does happen to you - I'll be sure to not have any sympathy for you Jen Arianna Frances

  22. I don't see this as only a money issue. LIke most parents, I'm sure they want to see her finish school and begin working int he real world as a responsible adult. Skydiving accidents happen, even as students. She can't well finish school and fully participate in the real world as a parapalegic can she? Don't say it can't happen, it has and does. Parents spend hundreds of thousands of dollars raising children for 18+ years - whats the problem with waiting just a few more when you can fully support yourself? Trust me, the sky isn't going anywhere. In the mean time you can learn as much as possible about the skydiving world and do tandems when money allows. You'll notice the time will go by faster then you though and when you finally have a paying job and can blow ALL your money on skydiving you'll be better off for it. Skydiving is expensive. In my first year I've already spent over $7000 on gear and jumps (and I don't have many if you notice), let alone tunnel camps and traveling. Do you have that lying around? Cause chances are pretty good you'll be spending that much in your first year too. Wait until you can afford it on your own. You'll be safer for it. Jen Arianna Frances
  23. huh? I thought we were talking about skydiving here... I know Ron was... Jen Arianna Frances
  24. If your parents are working as hard as you say they are to put you through school - CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY! Me and most of my friends had to put ourselves through school - you musn't understand how lucky you are - thats great! My friend Kathy finished school with $60k in student loans to pay back - and she now works as a social worker If I were you I would do what my parents ask - they're saving you A TON of money. The sky isn't going anywhere, wait until your done with school and can afford to put yourself through AFF quickly. Otherwise, being a broke college student, without financial help from the rents will make jumping pretty infrequent, and thats not safe. Good luck, Jen Arianna Frances
