  1. It's a simple formula...are you contributing money or not?
  2. I get that you're trying to bait me but I'm not gonna bite.
  3. This is the thinking that keeps us divided. I can assure you that for every dirty Republican pol there is a Democrat counterpart. For the better part of my 61 years I've watched congress sell us out. If you think the real problem is Trump you are very short sighted.
  4. Nice try with the attempt to make the post sexist. Why does it have to be a woman? Does this fictional person have a job? Are they paying taxes?
  5. I get what you're saying...but being a functioning member of society and contributing means you're not on the government tit. Nor does being on Social Security. I know some of you will dispute the SS claim, but it's an agreement between the government and the people to pay in to a system that was supposed to take care of you when you retire. Retiring on SS is not being on the tit.
  6. Government doesn't pay for anything. They simply redistribute our money. You're only on the tit if you aren't a functioning member of the society that produces the money the government redistributes. Something liberals seem to have a difficult time understanding.
  7. You don't seriously believe the Rs are bad and the Ds are angels do you?
  8. When it's all said and done the D nominee will be Bloomberg. It's so plainly obvious the DNC wants him as their candidate. It will be interesting to see if the D strategy of nominating a progressive from New York will work this time.
  9. I don't think taped closed door depositions is the same as presenting witnesses.
  10. Please. That was a case of needing to get some attention.
  11. I know you live in CA so you're to be forgiven if you think you understand the mood of the country.
  12. So we really are going to ignore the discrepancies in the Key West graph. Got it.
  13. When did I say she pissed me off? I couldn't care less what she does. Her constituents, on OTOH ought to.
  14. Sorry...in the case of the People vs. William Jefferson Clinton... On January 25, Senator Robert Byrd moved for dismissals of both articles of impeachment for lack of merit. On the following day, Representative Bryant moved to call witnesses to the trial, a question the Senate had scrupulously avoided to that point. In both cases, the Senate voted to deliberate on the question in private session, rather than public, televised procedure. On January 27, the Senate voted on both motions in public session; the motion to dismiss failed on a nearly party line vote of 56–44, while the motion to depose witnesses passed by the same margin. A day later, the Senate voted down motions to move directly to a vote on the articles of impeachment and to suppress videotaped depositions of the witnesses from public release, Senator Russ Feingold again voting with the Republicans.
  15. You can marginalize Pelosi's actions all you want. She just threw a hand grenade at the progress of women in the last 50 years.
  16. So we're just going to ignore 45-50 and 1990-2010? So it's that Miami is sinking? OR is it AGW? I get cornfused.
  17. NOOAA says the sea level has risen about 2.6 inches since 1993. Global sea level has been rising over the past century, and the rate has increased in recent decades. In 2014, global sea level was 2.6 inches above the 1993 average—the highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). Sea level continues to rise at a rate of about one-eighth of an inch per year. So 6 years later it's another inch? Let's say 4 inches. So not 9 inches...4 inches. And you expect me to believe that a 4 inch rise in sea level is causing flooding in the Keys? Looks like it's not the same everywhere in the world. Global sea level trends and relative sea level trends are different measurements. Just as the surface of the Earth is not flat, the surface of the ocean is also not flat—in other words, the sea surface is not changing at the same rate globally. Sea level rise at specific locations may be more or less than the global average due to many local factors: subsidence, upstream flood control, erosion, regional ocean currents, variations in land height, and whether the land is still rebounding from the compressive weight of Ice Age glaciers. Looks like it can get higher and lower depending on many things. Let's take Key West. Oh look! Between 1945 and 1950 it was as high as it is now. What happened then? Oh look again! From 1990 to 2010 it was lower than average. I guess global warming started after that.
  18. So you can't answer my question. I'll ask it again...how much has the sea level risen in this area?
  19. How much has the sea level risen in that area?
  20. Flooding in the Keys is not a new phenomenon... https://www.floridamemory.com/solr-search/results/?q=collection%3A"Florida Photographic Collection" AND subject%3A"Floods--Florida--Monroe County--Key West"&searchbox=1&query=Floods--Florida--Monroe County--Key West&year=&gallery=0&search-type=
