I was. What does that have to do with anything?
-
I don't despise the Health Care System of other countries. I'm all for single payer here.
-
Relax Nancy. I didn't predict any of this. I was way wrong in the beginning and admitted as much.
-
True. But if you're 80 or compromised at this point you have a pretty good understanding of what steps you can take to minimize exposure. And, I'm willing to bet that the 80 crowd might be tired of having their lives upended in the last 2 years. They don't have that many left.

So you don't think my son would encounter difficulties? It doesn't matter what my view of the real world is in this example. No way we're going to Macy's. I think he'd be more of a Kohl's kind of guy.
-
Don't think I'm not envious of Joe's ability to live that life. But don't mistake my envy with a lack of appreciation for my current surroundings (although a bit less snow would be OK). It's just not doable for 99%. I still question his viewpoint though. But I think I would do that even if he lived in...I dunno...Detroit. After sixty even if you're in excellent physical condition. Medical issues can surface at any time that make an active retirement a dream. 12 years ago I was totally taken by the island of Bequia. I told Rox we should find a way to live on a boat there. 2 weeks after returning to the states I had a heart attack. Had I been in the southern Caribbean I probably wouldn't have survived so I have a keen understanding of how health can change the plans.

We've reached a point in this fiasco where everyone knows what they personally need to do to lower the odds of contracting. Time for the mandates to end. Live your life however you'd like. Wear dresses.
-
If my son decided he wanted to wear dresses I'd be OK with it, but I'd also explain to him the difficulties he would face in the real world.

We've spoken before Joe. You know I've done some travelling as well. But I also live in the real world. You live in fantasyland and I'm glad you can afford to do that but when you don't have to hustle daily your POV is skewed a bit.
-
Instead of you three having this mutual masturbation session about where you'd rather live why not just be like Joe. Get on a boat and run away from the real world. BTW...https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/costa-rica-travel-advisory.html

Hopefully soon you'll be able to afford to live in the US again.

Hi jerry, Defense spending pales in comparison to Social Security and Medicaid.

If you think 30 trillion is leverage for investment you need a new financial advisor https://www.usdebtclock.org/

It seems to me that we've doubled down on government spending for social programs over the last 70 years...and then some. We're so far in debt I would consider it dangerous. How much further should we go? In 1952 social programs accounted for 1.2% of GDP. By 2010 it was close to 5%. I didn't get into the past 2+ years but it was phenomenal.

Comparing a quote to the Constitution? If you mix apples and oranges together with some wine you get a nice sangria.
-
That's great. A 70 year old quote. Think things might have changed since then?
-
The original question was S v C. Probably too vague for it to not wander off like it has.
-
So we're switching to healthcare now? I'm in agreement that the US system needs to move to single payer. Wouldn't make us a socialist country however.
-
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Let me know when you're cured.
-
You're confusing economies,,,deliberately too.
-
Now of the things on your list are socialist. They are paid for by taxes.
-
A political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
-
When the young'ns wouldn't ever consider using a rig that doesn't have an AOD (yes, i know) or an RSL.
-
Show me a socialist government that is working or has worked.
