AP Exclusive: DHS weighed Nat Guard for immigration roundups
airdvr replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm confused. Is your point that we considered National Guard? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne -
Do you really not understand that the part of our culture that immigrants like the most is that everyone is equal, everyone has rights, and everyone has the same opportunity? At least in principle. If you think those are White Christian values instead of American values then you are part of the problem. True Dan but you can't ignore that those values originated from white christians who escaped persecution. They tried their damnedest to seperate church and state. Works most of the time. We still have that saying on the almighty dollar...it doesn't say we trust Allah. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

If it makes you feel better. Once again the left can't see the proverbial forest. Do you really think Stephen King, Nora Roberts, the late Tom Clancy submitted their manuscripts to a "sensitivity reader"? I'm sure Kurt Vonnegut was concerned about the sensitivities of his audience. What you don't get is we are now fed pablum that has been scrubbed of any references that some might deem offensive. Wow! Good luck with that. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Actually the big problem with leaks is verifying the information. I have zero problems with leaks but the media just throws it out there before it's been vetted correctly. From there the fake news folks twist it to fit their agenda. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Do you think authors and publishers should be forced to print material they disagree with? I believe that's check and mate, my good sir I'm certain you believe that... Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

In a business setting it makes perfect sense. That's not what I'm talking about. Big publishers wanting to clean their author's work is understandable, but the author may not want their work scrubbed clean. Hard to walk away from the deal if you need the money. Publisher wins, author succumbs, and once again the masses get scrubbed work. Quade...not so sure your SO would be impressed that your love letter had to be scrubbed. Please don't dent the planet. Proofreading looks for grammatical errors. Do you believe offensive material in the media should be banned? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

I don't think you know what the word "censorship" means. censorship ˈsensərSHip/ noun 1. the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Maybe you should explain it to me. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

CIA espionage orders for the 2012 French presidential election

Publishers are hiring 'sensitivity readers' to flag potentially offensive content http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/books/ct-publishers-hiring-book-readers-to-flag-sensitivity-20170215-story.html Newspeak for censorship. Miller's declaration of war to the population ... ?
airdvr replied to christelsabine's topic in Speakers Corner
If USPA rules required that - then yes, they should. However, that's not the case. Not necessarily the case of the Emoluments Clause either. But guess what? The Judicial Branch of government will decide the issue...as it is designed to operate. I don't recall seeing anyone here jumping up and down about the Clinton Foundation when HRC was Secretary of State. It's a good day. I learned something new and so did all of you. I wasn't aware of the Emoluments Clause and it seems all of you aren't aware of the checks and balances built into our system of government. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne -
Miller's declaration of war to the population ... ?
airdvr replied to christelsabine's topic in Speakers Corner
This oughta be good Sure, I generally support the USPA. Please proceed to your point. Since Trump should release all of his businesses so as to not have any appearance of conflict of interest do you expect the DZO's on the USPA Board to do likewise? Please don't dent the planet. Miller's declaration of war to the population ... ?
airdvr replied to christelsabine's topic in Speakers Corner
Seriously? All he cares about it his personal wealth. If he wasn't concerned about making money he would have properly separated himself from his companies. Why didn't he? Because he would have lost money (according to his own lawyer). All true...but it doesn't mean he ran for POTUS to "line his family's pockets". JFK's family worth adjusted for inflation would have been about 1 billion. The next closest former President is Bill Clinton at 75 million. Trump's 3.7 billion is so far above any other US President I have a difficult time believing he's in it for the money. Do you support the USPA? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne -

You sound as if you think that's something new in DC. Take a look at this list https://ballotpedia.org/Changes_in_Net_Worth_of_U.S._Senators_and_Representatives_(Personal_Gain_Index) President Trump is worth an estimated 3.7 Billion dollars. I don't think he's that worried about lining his families pockets. They're already warm. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne -

Miller's declaration of war to the population ... ?
airdvr replied to christelsabine's topic in Speakers Corner
Trump promised to release his tax returns. He promised that several times. Waiting. He promised to "immediately" repeal and replace Obamacare. Waiting. He promised to reveal secrets about Russian hacking. Waiting. He promised to appoint a special prosecutor on his first day in office. Waiting. He promised to drain the swamp and reduce the influence of Wall St. Then he packed his cabinet with Wall St. insiders. Clearly you have a deficient concept of doing "what's been promised". Do you really want to go on a tirade about a President's promise keeping record? Hasn't even been 30 days. BTW...I read in the paper today that Gitmo is still open. Please don't dent the planet. Miller's declaration of war to the population ... ?
airdvr replied to christelsabine's topic in Speakers Corner
Unbelievable. The tendency of the right wingers on here to judge whether a policy is beneficial or not solely by whether it pisses off liberals would alone be one of their most juvenile traits. The fact they've mostly spent the last 8 years whinging and moaning about the country being divided, and are now cheering loudest for the most divisive policies without a hint of irony - that puts it way ahead in the pre-school stakes What does that even mean? It's only divisive if it's not the direction you want to go. For 30 years I've listened to politicians telling us what we wanted to hear but doing very little about our immigration problem. I'm understanding why...they were too worried about getting re-elected. I'm not talking about D's and R's here either...they're all to blame. Trump pisses everyone off because he will do what's been promised and not give a rat's ass about pissing someone off. You guys keep forgetting about the other 2 branches of government designed to keep a balance. I have confidence it will all be fine...fine for me anyways. Jakee...your country has it's own immigration problem. What are you doing about that? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
