  1. Your main is not likely to deploy if disconnected at the 3-ring system. The force required to pull the linestows out the rubber bands should be enough to disengage the rings. (You do have tight stows, do you ??) Remember, your shoulder covers are open and the main-risers pushed out of position while your reserve deploys. Without disconnecting your main you have a far bigger change the canopy's will both deploy. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  2. DO NOT TRY THAT PROCEDURE You are travelling 110MPh and someone fired a planet at you. It takes to long Just breakaway and pull reserve. Why do we make some subjects more difficult than it is. By breaking away you ensure your main will leave without much resistance in case it deploys together with your reserve. You have a very big change your main will not even come out of the bag. What you do is primary your own decision. I will pull my breakaway pillow!! According to your profiles you guys are rather inexperienced. Please ask your local instructor about his oppinion Do not try to experiment. Current procedures have evolved in time till wath they are now. As simple as possible. Easy to remember, even in a high stress situation ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  3. Bill, why do you still sell tandemrigs to europe? We both know we are jumping with passengers well "below the age of majority" The tandem with the youngest passenger ever has been made with a Vector. On the other hand there has never been a serious case concerning tandemjumps in the Netherlands ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  4. Charge them $1000 and include a trip to europe! No problems here, I've done tandems with people from 10 till 80years ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  5. Agree, When in doubt (age/illness) let the passenger consult their docter. Jumped with a man at least 80 years old. He got approval from his docter. Het did better than a lot of younger passengers. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  6. Best thing to do is to do normal. Don't tell them you carry a parachute till they ask. Do not mention the cutter, simply state I do not know how it works. When they ask about jumping this airplane tell them it is not possible because of the high airspeed. You will be killed on exit. Whether that is true or not it does not matter. I travel on a regular base (sometimes with rig) and my experience about the security personal is that they are not really clever and can be lured very easy Take care with a vigil who knows it fires in the x-ray or in the plane even when turned off) (JUST JOKING) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  7. 75kgs.... That's 165lbs. t Sorry, you are right ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  8. If I was the packer I would have payed the guys jumping ticket. Malfunctions might happen sometimes but it it is clearly a mistake you should not pay the packer. You pay manoy and as a return you can expect a pack job packed with all the skills the packer has. Line-over or twist might happen (no discussion about that) but this is clearly an error In the past I've packed a lot of rigs and I allways gave "free reserve repack" at a rigger the jumper chooses. They never needed it. On the other hand packers gave me o couple of tandemreserves including one highspeed (monkeyfist on droque) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  9. Agree, low turns and canopy collisions Kill. Both happens under perfect open canopies. Gear issues are becomming rare, but as the label says: There might be a gremlin inside ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  10. Do it on a regular base, under any sport canopy I've flown from student canopy till Stiletto 107 (take care with the last one). Never stalled a tandemcanopy on purpose (No plans to do it either) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  11. Jumped a lightning 143 several times, also on terminal (with slider, bag and I rolled the nose) It was the first and only canopy able to break your bag on opening and your limbs on landing. It flares like shit. But as you gain more jumping expecience you usually get more clever (or insane) and I sold the canopy. I went back to my stiletto 135 for freefall jumps (did not do any birdman jumps with it) I would never recommend someone to buy such a canopy other than for CRW only. For other purposes like BM: buy yourself a nice opening and superb flaring Spectre ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  12. Happens a lot, Modern parachutes have a higher rate of decent than 13m/sec in a turn. For me it is easy to get the the second signal of flatline under canopy. Just make a radical turn, preferable with frontriser because this will increase the speed even more. It might be helpfull to add your canopy size and weight to this post: Stiletto 107 75 kg (156lbs) With a spectre 150 I have more difficulty to ring the flatline. DU NOT TRY THIS AT LOW ALTITUDE. LANDING AFTER YOUR CANOPY WILL CAUSE A LOT OF DAMAGE AND PAIN ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  13. 1) Break away 2) Pull your reserve One procedure, deviation will cause accidents. Keep It Simple ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  14. The question was prior to jump, not landing. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  15. Most important is a SAFE landing. That means - No student assistent in the flare! They need their hands to keep the legs up. - Stand-up is nice, but it is an extra risk for injury. I normally make a sliding, only if I say stand or walk we make a stand-up. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  16. In principle it is scary for a student to chop a canopy. They have never seen an entanglement. With a transfer you tell them there is an option to get your reserve out without cutting away first which is wrong. This is what I tell students: For students: Cut away and pull reserve. Take decision above 2000ft. Below 2000ft you do a complete procedure, but you are already in the danger zone. Below 1000ft you only pull your reserve (Best option out of 2 bad options, but you screwed up yourself) If you start a reserve procedure you finnish it whatever happens. Keep It Simple for your student. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  17. The mounts for the pro-track really suck. I improved mine with a layer of carbon fiber and never lost one or broke an improved mount ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  18. How many jumps on the lines and pilot? My stilleto 107 also did this sometimes. After a reline and a new pilot it never happened again. At the moment of reline the canopy was at least 800 jumps old and did not flare the way it should be. The F-111 pilot also had 800 jumps. I got this canopy for free so I tried a reline and it worken out perfect. Opens and lands as new, but does not pack as new. I don't know whether the reline or the new zepo pilot solved it, but i'm happy with it as it is now. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  19. I guess you use the old design BT80. On this canopy you have to roll the nose to prevent hard openings. This increases the risk of tension knots. The new design (last 2 years) has been made of a slightly different fabric. The openings at the front have been modified. And you do not have to roll the nose The canopy opens perfect soft (not extremely slow). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  20. 3 chops on EZ All line-overs. 2 were from a packer. (+ cleared one line-over) Always (too) slow openings. BT never had a strange opening/malfunction In each case the new ones open perfect. Do not know the SET. Only a few jumps on Sigma/Icarus and Twin. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  21. Take the job. It your life and you have to take care of yourself. It's either taking care of yourself of complaining your whole life like all those f###ing socialists do here in europe ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  22. If you have the change TRY. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  23. Oh thats why they asked me to train some al-quada passengers
  24. This is AFAIK and from the top of my head; the way I read the dutch regulations it is allowed if the manufacturer allows it If I read this regulations the way you do: - You have to have an AAD on a tandemrig, but you do not have to switch it on - You need a passenger harness but it is not forbidden to hook up during freefall. BULLSHIT if the regulations require a RSL you have to use it. Perhaps you should try a rig which eliminates this broken riser problem by DESIGN. If you think a safety device can cause a safety risk use a rig that does not have this device (if allowed) or has a monkey-proof construction ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
  25. Never disconnected a RSL on a tandem. (Not allowed according to dutch regulations Jumped Vector with collins lanyard and French ATOM. The ATOM has a RSL to both risers (LOR2). Activation of the reserve will take place after disconnection of both risers. Is this system that bad or are the US-manufacturers too proud to use this system. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
